Re: What are you reading?
I'm reading In the Miso Soup by the other Murakami. It's good so far, but I keep returning to this one bit where the protagonist's girlfriend remarks that a recent murder victim didn't seem to be killed in a Japanese way. How on earth do you kill someone in a Japanese way?

What? But I thought the people at Sakuracon only liked JAY-RAWK, GIRUGAMESH, GAYMIN and OH DDR...
Obviously I won't be able to see this, but maybe it's a sign that they could come to Europe next year. If they're prepared to send Berryz to America, it doesn't seem all that unlikely.

Her outfit is weird but awesome and so is the squelchy synth noise. It's nice to see her doing something a bit different. PV is a bit generic, but it's H!P, so whatever.

I read this last night and actually decided to give you a shot to edit this sentence before I responded, but you didn't. I feel forced to address it. Idols are not real people? Huh? Whoa, hold up. I agree with you. Voyeurism is a form of abuse. I have a lot of problems with Heavy Rotation's video, and it certainly presents a demaning male fantasy. I was tired when I made my post and it was out-of-line. I apologise. As I've said, I find AKB problematic in many ways. I still, how...

Re: Momusu drops one last album before JunLinEri kick the bucket
It's been a couple of days and the album's mellowed on me, but I don't think it's any major disappointment. It's more rushed than their last two, but at worst it's a decent stopgap until they release something else. It's relatively cohesive, and it's got at least 3-5 album tracks I could see myself ...

I'm excited, but I maintain that this whole affair is pretty misguided, especially after seeing how young they all are. MM does not need a maturity gap that wide.
Still, a couple seemed to be decent-ish singers, although Tsunku will probably pick the worst, knowing him.

Ugh, Ashiato is not doing it for me. I generally don't like alternative-style idol music, and this is no exception. It's not bad, just fairly dull. But then I don't much like most of her work with avex, and I'm not especially inclined towards the label to begin with.

Re: Momusu drops one last album before JunLinEri kick the bucket
Very brief track-by-track based on my first impressions of the full album: Onna to Otoko no Lullaby Game (AL ver.) The greatest asset of this song is the fairly awesome main melody line, so the extended intro does this song justice. It's never going to be remembered as one of Morning Musume's greate...

Ah, now this is more like it! Pops, burbles, squeaks, electric guitar and the Rubberface in the lead. It's nice to see MM move out of their string stage (which I honestly think peaked over a year ago now) and back into bubbly synth/electro-pop.

PV preview here. It's not so great (pretty cheap looking, weirdly), but the full song's alright. Senbatsu is pretty all over the place because it was decided in a jankenpon competition. Preview of the "orchestral" album version of Onna to Otoko no Lullaby Game. It's pretty much the same except for an extended introduction, which is somewhat predictable but still works. The song's not brilliant, but this is my favourite version of it. The synthpop Sayu song is still the b...

Yeah, but it's not officially counted, like in the UK, so it's not really a "record". They count consecutive Top 5s, Top 10s, etc., but not Top 6s. That's what Ap meant, if I'm not mistaken.

I did not expect this album to be good, but I've liked both album tracks so far, especially the Sayumi one, and the covers are...really quite good, actually. Don't make me hopeful now only to punch my soul when it comes to the crunch, UFA!
