I've been watching clips of Kpop Star whenever they appear on AllKpop and every time one interests me I must report on it.

Girls singing Fame. They are pretty good. Contains the same girl from the Adele performance. So I guess they grouped the girls together and made them sing?

I should pay more attention to this show, but as a general rule I hate these type of shows, even the American ones. Only thing I noticed is that these girls are very, VERY average looking. I want them to succeed, but I know in doing so they'll have to drop their weight and tart themselves up and that's just sad. :<

In Japan it's okay to let yourself go a little. In SKorea, you gotta be a stick.

SNSD is going to be on the american talk shows Late Night Show with David Letterman and Live with Kelly.

The Boys is such a shitty song. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' /> I will watch for the possible train wreck that will ruin all crossovers or the possible awesomeness that will spawn the boon of girl groups making a comeback in American music.

I absolutely hated The Boys when I first heard it, but I think the English version is better than a lot of other Asian attempts. I hope they perform it on Letterman. Also, how are they gonna interview the 20 of them on our puny American talk show sets?

When they had that Access Hollywood thing, some of them sat in front and some in back. I imagine it won't be hard since Tiffany will be doing all of the talking with a little input from Jessica.

Yeah, no, I would be excited if they weren't performing The Boys. Instead, I anticipate secondhand embarrassment.

The last english interview I saw the others did a fair amount of talking. Several of them are getting pretty decent with it. I don't know if there will even be any sort of interview though, cause all I saw was that they were going to perform. I guess there has to be some sort of interview though just so people don't think it's as totally random as it would be.

As for SNSD, there is no song of theirs that would actually make me give a rats ass about them coming to America, but The Boys is one of the absolute worst out of a lot of "worsts."

Do you know if this show is filmed live? I'm pretty sure the last few have been prerecorded which would have made it easier for the others to speak.

In other news, Big Bang are making a comeback and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by the immense creativity put into the teaser image.

Right, they'll probably talk a little on Kelly but don't expect anything on Letterman.

Ugh. That seems like such a bad idea. No one knows who they are AND they're performing a terrible song. I don't think they're going to leave a very good impression.

Man, that Big Bang image must've taken them weeks to make, that's sure to draw some new fans!

Also, I've been listening to Kpop for about 12 years, and I STILL thinks its one of the dumbest things ever that they call releasing a new album as a "comeback." Reminds me of KISS and the Rolling Stones, who have had about 5 farewell and comeback tours, but they actually stayed inactive for long periods of time in between, unlike these Kpop artists. I can't tell if it's just bad Konglish or a really lame way of over-emphasizing the fact that something new is happening to add fake buzz and importance to the event.

I think G-Dragon said something about how waiting to come out with a new album longer than 3-4 months is a death sentence of total irrelevance. So in that respect I'd probably have to guess that 3 months in K-pop time is like 5 years of absence in the rest of the music world. Add 2 years per month following that.

I dunno. That's how I rationalize it! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nceman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':danceman:' />

Does anyone else hate the mini-album thing in Korea that's a result of that? I'll probably hate it forever. People are always praising K-pop mini-albums albums for being so "cheap", but they fail to realize it costs a company less to add pages to a photo book than to produce another 6 songs. It's clever marketing, but with the online CD prices rising every day, I begin to see the bullshit in buying them (especially considering how cheap they actually are at face value in Korea).

The only thing that bothers me about mini-albums are when companies decide to finally release a full album, and it's just all the minis put together. Good recent example is Miss A. Their full album had TWO new songs on it.

And while we're discussing mini albums, I heartily do not recommend Dal Shabet's.

Thought this might interest a few of you. Kpop groups from 1996-2011 Boys and Girls and everything in between from Soompi.

And I'm sure Aueg will like this. Musically speaking. Watching and listening to the evolution of Kpop is pretty interesting since I basically know very little of the 2000 years, except for i-13 and B.E.G. (but I didn't learn about B.E.G until more recently so they really shouldn't count for me.) And next to nothing about the boy groups.

I saw Hwayoung's wardrobe malfunction article on allkpop and assumed yet again they were blowing shit out of proportion, but indeed it was an actual nip slip this time. That sucks for her :( Especially with how fucking repressed netizens are they're going nuts over it.

I saw that performance, and it took someone with a really sharp eye and good screencapping skills to see that. If you hadn't known it happened before watching, I don't think most people would have caught it at all. No one seemed to even notice until the screencap start spreading.

She's not the first idol to have a nip slip, but I think she'll be okay because people generally like her. No one liked Nam Gyuri because she was kind of a bitch.

HwaYoung was much cuter pre-bowl cut. She is a very pretty lady, just poorly styled.

She's 18. I call younger women "ladies" frequently. Additionally, if the implication is that I was creeping on her... I hate to disappoint, but I am a straight female with no interest to muster up for this person. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

You are a lady until you are married and then you become "Mrs.". It's traditional southern etiquette! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... lesson.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lesson:' />

Who is this chick and why is she speaking for Girls' Generation?
