Yay, Snoop Dogg! One of the few rappers I actually respect! Though I don't know if he can still spit rhymes these days (pre-finals week brain can't think of a better way to say this).



I'm thinking original title is literally what the new titles are going to be for the English versions of those songs. I really liked TRICK, so I'm hoping they do a good version for me to be able to sing along to in English.



In any case, I'd been waiting for news of this forever, so I'm happy they're actually doing it after all. I finally caved and downloaded the Korean album today (a few hours ago, as a matter of fact), so I'm hoping all the English stuff impresses me just as much.

I know there's probably actually a difference between track 1 and track 13, but I'm kind of amused by the idea that they'd just start putting in multiple identical copies of The Boys to fill out an album. I must say that these sorts of blatantly extractive management practices are making it a bit more difficult for me to stay interested in SNSD. Not that this would be my first exit from the fandom...

I forgot to post this. HMV are the only one's who've got it up right now with the full tracklist, in case anyone feels the need to own this. Release date says January, but since it was supposed to already be out, I wouldn't hold your breath.



CD Japan has the same tracklist minus the remixes, but it also says postponed so they might be updating it later.

I don't think he's ever been a good rapper. He has great stage presence and he just... performs/delivers/acts well. His persona, I guess that's the way to put it. I've never been a big fan of him though, and we all know lyrics are subjective and you can't have rap without some beef. The last song I remember him in that's somewhat recent is that Katy Perry song and he was easily the worst part (of an already badannoying song)



But SNSD and Snoop TROLLOLOLOL I want a redone PV where we have to see our heavenly maidens gyrate around him like a typical video girl for the reading pleasure that would ensue. Oh man, watching the fandom blow up like that would be glorious (but bad news/demeaning to the girls, so I guess it should never be done.)

I'm upset that they feel the need to put a rapper into The Boys to begin with--and I haven't kept up with mainstream music since '08 which is ancient in the music scene--but all the insert-raps I've heard since then and now have all had nothing to do with the original song, and have had an alarmingly higher amount of LESS to say overall. The best example I can think of is Sophia Fresh's "What It Is." Probably not a mainstream song, but it has got to be the best example of what I'm talking about where a rapper comes in who says absolutely nothing about the original song and does it terribly on top of that.



And if this is the quality of random feat. rappers these days, I'm so cool with their never touching another song again. Hell, at least the "The Boys" song SNSD will actually promote doesn't have a rap in sight--just Yuri, Yoona, Hyo, and Sooyoung's random marching band section which is scream-talk in time to the music instead of rapping anyway.

On December 20th, Girls’ Generation will have a worldwide release of their maxi-single ‘The Boys’ simultaneously through iTunes and subsequently through various Korean music sites on December 21st.



In order to put in more perfection to the album, the release date of the maxi-single was postponed and the girls recorded the single along with world known hip-hop artist, Snoop Dogg. Besides Snoop Dogg, a new artist under Interscope Record’s, Lil Play is also featured in the single.



On January 17th next year, through Universal Music Group, a special album which also consists of ‘The Boys’ will be released in America, Europe, etc. The special album is released specially for overseas fans who encounter difficulties to obtain Korean version of the albums. It will consist of songs from Girls’ Generation’s 3rd album and other Korean version of their songs.







So it looks like there won't be English versions on the album release. Which makes the changed titles even more confusing.

Given the insanity of the last few NYC Kpop events (tickets for the free concert and the line for the 2NE1 concert which was already pre-screened by "winning" tickets online beforehand), this ain't happening for me. I'll stop by after work, but I expect absolute madness in a relatively tiny store. Lolling so hard. One English song? God. Why didn't they treat the US market like they did Japan and cover some songs in English and maybe write some new ones? I think SM sees JYP and YG approach to their carefull approach and think because they are so big and mighty they can just sweep in and steal all the thunder. Of course it isn't going to work. They would just be a flash in the pan in the whole scheme of things. SNSD are just the tip of an iceberg. The only thing they'll accomplish is the average american thinking, Oh I didn't think Asian people could sing. Unless of course they actively try and promote the group for reals.
