Right now, I am watching the '86 version of Little Shop of Horrors. So far, I like the older one better.

Saw Cabin in the Woods and it was freakin' amazing! The less you know about it going in, the better, but it's definitely not an average horror movie.

Watched Memento on BR.

A movie that is the second and third time watching just as fascinating as it is the first time.

I went to see The Cabin in the Woods, but when I got there, it was canceled. Some technical problem with the projector, they said. I'll try again tomorrow.

edit: Went again last night and saw it. All I will say is that is the best thing since toast and you will like it.

Re: Movies

It took me nearly exactly one year to watch the Battle Royale Director's Cut.

I bought the Limited Edition last year on April 19th, but for some reason never watched the Director's Cut, the main reason why I bought this version. I got it for 15 GBP back then from Amazon.co.uk and now it's worth three times that or even more, depending on where you buy it and in what condition.

For me personally, the Director's Cut is the definitve version of the movie. It adds 8 minutes of new scenes into the movie that explains the characters and especially the groupings in the movie a lot better. It does slow down the pacing however.

So if you just want to have fun with your friends, show them the Theatrical Cut (also incl. on the LE).

However, if you want to re-watch it and like the movie, the DC is absolutely the version you should watch. Especially if you haven't seen it yet.

Also, just noticed I actually got #667 (from 5000 LEs)... you know, the neighbour of the beast. Pretty cool, definitely never gonna sell this one ! hah

#3708. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/yawn.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> And I regret not buying the BR version now.

And yes, Director's Cut is the way to go and the ultimate version of this in many ways ultimate movie.

Really? I've come to not hate the director's cut, but I find it vastly inferior to the original cut. I don't think the new scenes really add anything and the added CG effects are crap.

The BR doesn't really have a better picture quality when compared to the DVD, so I think it doesn't really matter which version you have.

I love Zatoichi 2003 (the one with Kitano) a lot and that has one of the worst CGI blood I've ever seen. I don't really care too much about it, nor would it be something that'd make me dislike a movie (or version) more than the other.

I watched the Avengers. Twice. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hahaha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hahaha:' /> What can I say, what can I say? I'll probably see it a third time with my little brother next weekend.

The only complaint is that

1. Villians motives are stupid.

2. ScarJo had too many speaking lines and it was painful when she was paired with the better actors, especially Middleton's excellent Loki. We need a stand alone Loki film just for him. Marvelous! I know I am adamant about my hatred of ScarJo, but it's really painful for me to watch a film with a female superhero that's supposed to be as awesome as the males get outshown badly by the males. Ugh, it's Hollywood and why I have a huge problem with Hollywood.

3. Don't even get me started on whipping her hair weapon.

The rest is awesome. The most fun I've had at a cinema in a long time. I want a Stark/Banner film too. Their scenes together were awesome and made me fangirl. I'm still not feeling Chris as Captain A. In fact, he was neutered in this film. He doesn't seem nearly as powerful as he is in the comics. And he lacks the stage presence the other heroes have. (Then again, I'm not too fond of him in the comics either so I don't really mind him being second fiddle to Hulk, Iron Man and Thor.) BUT even Hawkeye was more badass than he was. Dial-an-arrow was sweeetttt!

I was also raging at my theater because some asshold didn't shut off their phone. And it went off RIGHT in the "card scene". I'm getting all sad teary eyed and all of a sudden some jackhole's phone goes off.

Fucker didn't even ATTEMPT to silence it. So when the second viewing happened, I was glad to finally hear the conversation though the overall mood was ruined because I already knew it was coming.

I wonder what Thor says after the drapes line because both viewings had audience laughter covering it. One of the best lines in the film though.

The trailer for DKR is hilarious. At first I was digging the use of music and then...

"I'm not supposed to get into the car with strangers." (This line pisses me off for other reasons that I will spare the rant, but in a nutshell I hate it everytime it's used it's not funny it's not cute it's the female equivilent of a shoddy/horrible pick up line)

"it's not a car."

L.O.L.O.L.O.L.

I also can't believe Bale didn't change his Balevoice after the flack he got for it.

Loki's motivation was stupid, but it was a perfect motivation for Loki since, at heart, he is a jealous, petulant child. His whole scheme was basically a temper tantrum.

I didn't mind ScarJo in this one, which is saying a lot since she pretty much Koharued IM2. I thought Cap was great, but he's my second favorite comic character. He did get short-changed, but the first cut of the film was 3 hours long and it sounds like a fair bit of it removed were Cap scenes. For example, there are scenes of him just walking around the city and seeing how things have changed, and apparently there's an scene where he reunites with an elderly Peggy Carter (the woman from his movie). I liked Ruffalo's Bruce Banner far more than Bana and Norton's version, and EVERYTHING with Hulk was solid gold.

Thor was the one that I felt was a bit out of place. He was great in all his scenes, but he just seemed to have far less to actually do in the movie other than his connection to Loki. And, yeah, Loki totally needs his own film. It's saying a lot that he's pretty much the only villain in all the Marvel movies (other than Magneto) to actually survive the films.

Also, I watched the movie four times in four days. I haven't seen a movie that much in theaters since the first Jurassic Park.

And the line that no one heard because of laughter in all the showings I watched were Hulk's only words in the movie after his "conversation" with Loki.

I got to hear that one in the second showing~ Puny God.

I hope that extended cut makes it to the home release.

I can see it another 3-4 times before t he run is over. I think that may risk overloading it, but it's a really fun flick. Kudos to Whedon for that one.

MAJOR CREDITS SPOILERS:

The schwarma scene at the end was gold. So awkward! It reminded me of those old construction photos where they're just sitting t here eating looking exhausted.

And HOL-EEE SHIT THANOS! THANNNOOOSS!!!! OMGOMGOMGOMG!

You know the "end" end credit scene was shot only a few weeks ago, after the Hollywood premiere. It's not in the overseas versions (unless they went back and added it). I didn't know it even existed the first two times I saw it since I though that the OMGFUCKYEAH mid credit scene was all there was.

I enjoyed Avengers much like everyone else, but I felt like some bits were kind of poorly developed. It was a perfect fun weekend movie, though.

Made the person I was with stay for the post-credits scene. Worth it.

I had to go to the bathroom SO bad that I only made it through the first post-credit scene before bolting to the ladies room. I tried!

I love the Hulk in this movie. I have no idea how they could make a stand alone movie with ScarJo. I think that would be a mighty boring movie to be honest. Through from the wiki page, they are thinking about it. (Please no.)

I've never seen any of the Iron Man movies, nor did I see the Hulk or Captain America. I only saw Thor. So it was sort of trying to patch things together how this all came together. I'm sure if I saw them first this movie would have had more of an impact. And I fully intend to watch Iron Man, one of these days. I do love Robert Downy Jr. I just don't know why I haven't brought myself to watch the movies yet.

Also, for people in the know (since I am not). Who was the guy at the end?

I saw the Avengers over the weekend and fell in love, but now I'm unsure if I saw the right after-credits thing? Was it just the thing with Red Skull (?) after the title credits or was there something after the boring credit roll?

The chances of me seeing it again are very high. The only "gripe" I had was that some of the CG stuff was too much like Firefly's with the fidgety rack-focus and shaky-style. Just a little too much there, Joss.

spoilers for the after credits of the Avengers:

The guy after the credits is Thanos, pretty much one of the most powerful villains in the Marvel universe. He's been around for decades, but gained huge popularity in the limited series "The Infinity Gauntlet" (which was also one of the items in Odin's throne room in Thor). He will most likely appear in the Guardians of the Galaxy picture Marvel is working on now, and will transition into some huge storyline that brings their Earth and Cosmic movie stories together.

Actually, just watch this, to get up to speed on him.

I don't know if it's just a major coincidence or more than that, but the movie Dainipponjin ("Big man Japan", horrible translation) had a very similar after-credits scene.

It was also about super heroes and they were also sitting around a table, eating:

I hate that female superheroes have never had iconic portrayals in film. But I guess that's only a dream of mine because they will always pick the new hot young thing (TM) to play the character. ScarJo's scenes in Avengers were the worst, especially the scene she had across Hiddleston and her opening scene. I did like Maria Hill, the small bits we got of her.

It's not like they're many iconic female super heroes to begin with. There's Wonder Woman for DC and Storm for Marvel, as far as casual fans go.

Although I do think in a few more years and with 15-20 pounds of muscle on her, Victoria Justice would make an awesome Wonder Woman.

Speaking of superhero flicks (Loki is awesome btw, but we all knew that and PQ's link reinforces it~ <3) Iron Patriot has been spotted on set of IM3. I'm... feeling UGH about it. Look, stick with Extremis and Mandarin. Don't go bringing the Armor Wars storyline into it. Dammit Marvel stop trying to make the films exactly like the comic books shit don't work that way son. I'm now on "Please Don't Be Another Spiderman 3" watch.

Supposedly there's problems with using the Mandarin because of the Chinese market. Lame.

And while the concept of Extremis was cool, pretty much nothing happens in it as far as plot. Hell, you can watch the whole motion comic on Netflix in a half hour.
