I'm seriously considering buying the vinyl LP of thier first album. I finally listened to it for the first time this week, and they have officially become my favorite idol group. Everything they do is so perfect!

I just really, REALLY miss Akari. That girl added a lot more to the group than she gave herself credit for.

The MV.

It is everything I could have hoped for. Can we get a Kanoko solo MV where she just rocks out on the guitar the whole time?

I'm still not really liking it. I like the PV and all, but the way they are singing it's kind of grating to me. I'm sure this is awesome live, but I don't think I could sit through a listen to it on my ipod without the PV.

There are no words for how great this PV is. It might be my favorite PV of any group of all time.

PQ, I agree that the vocals are pretty grating. The solo lines during the chorus are the worst for me, other than that I enjoy it. I think there's just something so ridiculous, epic, and fun about the song that I can get over it.

Also, those figurines are just unfair. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ryalot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cryalot:' />

Grating vocals don't seem to be anything new to MomoClo, so I didn't really mind it. I find it to be a little charming that they don't try to be perfect singers. If I had anything to complain about it would just be the lack of ridiculous choreography and antics to match such a frantic song <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hatthe.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whatthe:' />

Since it made EmEl happy that I said I liked the songs earlier, I am here to jump on the bandwagon. That PV is a delight. Maybe if MM had more space pirates I'd have stayed on board. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... dammit.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':dammit:' />

So now that the full single is out...

I have to say that the instrumental is off the mutha-fuckin' chain! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nceman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':danceman:' />

Marty Friedman really killed it in this song, and it surprised me how much of this guitar god's work was somewhat covered by Momoclo's vocals. I can easily listen to it as a completely stand-alone track and have my face melt every time.

So much awesome in one release! LOST CHILD isn't bad, either <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... umbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I kind of wish we had a instrumental + choral vocals as well. Lost Child's instrumental shows its mystic feel, but the vocal processing on the girls really adds to the song.

I wonder what these "c-sides" are leading to. We went from Bionic Cherry to DNA Rhapsody. I fear there will be a half-clone/half-cyborg next.

I feel so behind since this is the first video/single I've actually listened to. I kinda like these girls! They've got the whole Riho yell/sing thing going on, but it's cute.

Now I need to go find the rest of their stuff. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nceman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':danceman:' />

Momoiro Clover was on a battle show last night, doing two battles.

Momoclo and some comedian doing a real-life reenactment of the opening of the anime High School! Kimengumi. They, of course, lost because the other team's reenactment was better imo. (BTW, the other team's anime is Dokonjou Gaeru).

Haruna Ai x Momoclo (sans Ayaka) singing Ikuze! Kaitou Shoujo. They won this battle. I didn't like other team's choice song anyways.

They are getting more TV exposure now. Tonight they are on a dance show, I think (I wasn't paying attention of the ad).

For all of their faults -- and there are so many that there is no conventional reason that this group should still be around -- I love Momoiro Clover. Seriously, if you've ever wondered what a group of five Rika Ishikawas would sound like, or five Asami Konnos would dance like, Momoiro Clover is it. And yet I can't stop watching. Everything is so over-the-top ridiculous and fun that it works. Even though I'll probably never make a Momoclo playlist, the fact that they exist makes me happy.

Sayu and most of 9th+10th gen went to see MomoClo's concert today - which I'm pretty sure means they were there at the same time as Em-El :D

Also, I watched that SDK appearance last night, thanks for pointing that out! I didn't even know it existed in the first place. Major points to Momoka for the wasabi sushi. I hate wasabi too and would never have actually eaten it xD Also Reni's deep sea fish face is the greatest thing ever.

So that's who got all the good seats... <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ryalot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cryalot:' />

The first concert included all sorts of guests (AKB's Sashihara Rino even sang her upcoming single). There were so many guests, it was more like a variety program than a concert. But the main attraction was new solos and unit songs like last year. And they sold the songs on a CD at the venue!

Kanako's was a great improvement from her last solo, but I always was angry at that song for not really playing to her strengths. This backed by a live band, The Wild Ones. It had a surfy feel and fun audience participation. If it exploded into rock like it felt like it wanted to, but that doesn't really fit the band's genre I suppose.

I can't decide if I like last year Shiori's better. But this is an updated image. It still has the sweet sound, but there's slightly less naivete replaced with a slight coolness. Almost sounds like an actual soloist's song.

SAASAKI! OI! SAASAKI OI! Aarin got Maeyamada again this year, so she wins again (only because Akari wasn't there to defend her title of which song I liked the best). It's about Ayake being a rebellious teenager. It's wonderfully catchy.

Momoka's is 100 times better than last year's ballad. But I don't like ballads. She performed a funk song with Zainichi Funk backing her. She had a lot of cute interaction with the frontman of that band. The performance was sadly marred by them putting her in brownface <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /wacko.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> It looked stupid.

Reni had another traditional-Japanese sounding song. It's not the fierce enka voice of last time, but a pretty, fluid sound. It's pretty great to listen to.

Aarin always gets Maeyamada, but he didn't leave the others out. He gave them the unit songs. Both are hilarious. Shiori/Kanako's is a cute song about not being able to share a bed (Kanako is always fighting in her duets!) Maeyamada

Reni/Momoka's song complain about wanting to be supported more by their company. As the Stardust logo flashed on the screen the whole song. They complain about getting hard to say solo parts, etc. At the end they showed pictures on the screen where they had drawn all over their manager's face. Maeyamada

"Trout Sushi for Three" returned dressed up for the 60s again. This time their cover was a Japanese version of "You Can't Hurry Love" (恋はあせらず)

The second day of concert was a normal concert. It was their first time doing an arena concert in the middle of the arena. That stage did all sorts of tricks. It spun, trap doors everywhere. AND THEY SPRUNG OUT OF IT for Wani to Shampoo and Mugen no Ai! The first time Momoka didn't stick her landing, then Reni didn't stick hers. The second time there were fireworks! So dangerous, yet so awesome. Their new costumes were pretty awesome (With Dragonball scouters and lasers everything!) During Wani to Shampoo, they dropped copies kanji tests for the sky that they had made them take.

Enough babbling.

They performed their new single (June 27). It's a fight song. FIGHT! SO SO! It's "PUSH", the song that's kind of featured in their Lotte Ice Cream commercials.

Also 8/5 is Summer concert in Seibu Dome. They want 30,000 people. You're all gonna meet me there, right? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... pyeyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

No reason not to. Probably BluRay also. The BluRay of the Christmas concert topped the bluray charts in its first week.

Here are a bunch of videos from news reports on the concert. The first video is the longest and has footage from both days (mostly day 1). The second one actually talks to the girls and has footage of the solos.

01. Nagisa no La La La - I wish it would've had a punch to it. But it's still a nice chill song.

02. Namidame no Alice - I'm going to admit I like this type of song. This would've been a single for someone in the past.

03. Aarin wa Hankouki - Ahaha this is great. The beat is club but the melody is all idol. I like this dissonance. It reminds me of something that would appear on a DDR game back in the day.

04. Kyouiku - Funk is always fun but the instrumental almost outdoes Momoka.

05. Tsugaru Hantou Tappizaki - Traditional is nice. Her song seems more difficult than the others and she handled it well.

06-07. These unit songs are always fun.

Ranking of Solos -

Shiroi

AARIN! OI!

Reni

Kanako

In fact! The composer of Shiori's song actually is a composer whose heyday came in the 80s. He did a lot, but here's one of his main idols (Akimoto Yasushi lyrics alert!)
