I find this hilarious considering Tiffany got a huge backlash several years ago which ended with SNSD getting black oceaned after she said that SNSD is one unlike Super Junior because SNSD wasn't made for subunits.

I always figured that remark got blown way out of proportion like anything fandoms want to hate someone for. I figured she literally meant SJ and SNSD were different because SJ had subunits and SNSD didn't. Now they do; no issue there.





Anyway, I love all members of Taetiseo and don't mind the uncreative name in the slightest! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /weeeh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':weeeh:' /> I'm gonna enjoy this, so hopefully they put in a good effort for SNSD's K.R.Y.



Though, now that I think about it, I'm surprised they didn't throw Jessica in there over Tiffany or something since she's almost always more of a lead than Tiffany.

I always figured she meant it exactly as she said. Debut era Tiffany was to put it plainly, a stupid bitch. She had lots of little scandals for insulting people. She insulted a senior singer, Super Junior, DBSK's fans. She pretty much has chronic foot in mouth syndrome. And no matter how hard I try to like her, I can't after I watched her embarrass Seohyun at SMT NY.

I heard her American mannerisms didn't translate well into hypersensitive Korean respect sensibilities, but I find it hard, especially in the Kpop fandom, to accept accusations of bitchiness when fans are way too invested in hating or loving these people.

The only links I'm going to be able to find out are the melodramatic ones. Because clearly her fans aren't going to keep up anything that reflects badly on her. I've just always found the attitude that some kpop fans have hilarious. Because if a guy idol says one wrong thing, it will haunt him forever. But, if a girl idol says something bad, and you don't immediately drop it and go back to talking about what a goddess she is, then you're a butthurt fangirl who is just mad because they're closer to oppa then you'll ever be.

I don't hang out in the Kpop fandom, so not sure what you're referencing there, but I simply don't see anything bad in those clips. I can see how they can be misconstrued as bitchy--and yeah, maybe they're not the nicest portrayals of Tiffany as can be had on TV--but... I dunno. I guess that's all I see? I just have an immediate so what reaction. I've said worse things on a good day about other people, so how someone chooses to perceive Tiffany based on those clips is entirely up to them from my point of view, because those clips are neutral.



But hey, I dislike Jessica for no good reason, so I don't care how someone chooses to hate or love anyone either. I'm just happy Seo will have less people to compete for screentime with. Or just saying the correct lyrics. It's not like she's telling him he's stupid for not knowing it.



@showraniy; I don't have a problem with Jessica, but I think some people dislike her because of her rather apathetic and bored look in shows etc.

I wouldn't call Tiffany a bitch. While she's never come off as the brightest person, nothing about her seems like she's intentionally malicious either.



And yeah, a lot of people don't like Jessica's attitude. I know she's the 'Ice Princess' but she mostly comes off as tired and dazed rather than icy. Kind of like she's just not aware of or paying attention to what's going on.

Oh, I don't hate Jessica by any means. I just don't like her. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol:' /> She's likeable, but I think I just dislike her Fujimoto Miki attitude--she's one of the front girls, but doesn't seem to really work for it or care. She just feels undeservedly on top when some of the other girls work much harder. I think people who view her as cold are misinterpreting her aloofness though.

I don't know if anyone here is a Hyoyeon fan (she's my favorite member), but she's going to be on the second season of Dancing With the Stars. It's far less idol saturated than Immortal Song, but Hyunah was on last season and it was cool because she did dances that normally you would not see Hyunah do.



So, I'm excited. I'm glad Hyoyeon is getting to appear on more shows alone.

Does anybody else feel like the appearance of subunits marks the beginning of the inevitable end? I'm betting that SNSD now disbands within two years. Of course, I predicted that for Morning Musume more than two years ago, and they are apparently still around...



Anyway, if we simply must be given subunits, then I would have preferred the originally rumored Taeyeon/Jessica/Tiffany unit for a bit more personality, interpersonal drama, and vocal color (Seohyun and Taeyeon have a fairly similar timbre in my opinion). The TJT unit would then be followed by a triplets unit (Yoona/Yuri/Seohyun) and a leftovers unit.

Afterschool has their subunit and they seem to be doing just fine. But then Afterschool is the Morning Musume of Korea so it's expected they would have subunits.



I expect T-ara to be the next group to get subunits, what with all the girls coming in. They need more work you know, because they are such a lazy group.

The mini is better than I expected, and I now see why SM went for the member selection they did. I feel that there's something lacking though, and I think it's that the girls don't quite have strong enough voices to pull off some of the songs. Also, the upper limit of their ranges (Taeyeon's in particular) are being sorely tested and it just doesn't sound that comfortable. But hey, at least this means they were being ambitious instead of playing it totally safe.

The only thing interested about this subgroup? The girls singing. When you're top SNSD songs are all pretty much sugar pop ear worms, you forget these girls can actually sing.



MV was standard SM fluff. The song isn't growing on me yet and I've barely listened to any of the other mini-album songs. So far it's forgettable. I haven't found anything that stands out for me yet.

I disagree. I don't think Twinkle highlights their voices. They seem to be straining to reach several of the notes.

This subgroup makes no sense to me. Why would you give them 6 background dancers to make a total of 9 girls dancing around?



Part of the reason why I like SNSD despite not caring about the individual girls is because there are so many of them. I don't want to care about them, and I don't want to see any individual ones (or even a few of them) featured more. So to me this subgroup idea is meh.



I love that one of their songs is about a library, though.

I'm convinced that the subgroup is pretty much to keep Taeyeon from cutting someone when the full group gets their next cutesy K-single. She's pretty close to Tiffany and they work well together; then you have Seohyun is a strong supporting addition to any intra-group lineup. For a wannabe solo vocalist, the mini offers a pretty decent selection of ad lib fest opportunities that aren't overly saccharine ("Library" excepted, but that is just such a fun DDR-sounding track). Stylistically speaking any of the tracks off the mini could have been a B track for the full group (with the possible exception of "Twinkle"), but they couldn't have been executed to the same standard because of the problem children in the dance line and the overly differing timbres of the full vocal line. See "Mistake" which is also an ad lib fest but just isn't that convincing, or "How Great Is Your Love" which is a snoozefest.



I don't think they're reaching out to new fans, though, in the sense that there probably isn't a reason to care about the mini if you don't already care about the individuals behind it.
