According to FAQ, Cuca has no qualification to have an audition for the 11th gen.

Cuca is "小学4年生" now.

You know everything. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> But what does this mean in English? That she's not old enough? Because I could have sworn she turned 11 last month.

Oh, okay. Thanks.

I think it's grade specific, not age specific. They're looking for 5th graders and older, and she just started 4th grade.

Hmmm I am completely unsure what to think. I want (as everyone said) a singer...although there is great potential in 9th and 10th, and someone older. Completely agree with you all. What about Sara? Can she audition again? I don't know the specifics of auditioning again. I know some people auditioned multiple times, but is it because they didn't make it so far. Also, where can I watch updates and stuff on the audition process? I want to be updated on it all where I know who is who and personalities. It seems I am left out of a lot conversations.

At first I read that as Sayu graduation and I was like holy crap here comes Baby Musume. I feel like I won't be interested in MM that much anymore. They're all too young for me and they get younger every audition. Except Haruna, I was happy an older girl got added, but then I realized she's a big ball of fail.

I bet they announce someone's graduation after they introduce 11th gen.

Ehhh, we used to average about 3 singles before there was a lineup change back in the day. Momusu will be fine. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... umbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> It's kinda refreshing.

Yeah, I know, but I kind of like having older girls in the group to balance out the vocals at least. Haruka, Mizuki, and Riho can at least hold their own, but I feel like they'll never get a chance to find their niche if Tsunku's got all his energy focused into adding new weight to a ship that kinda needs a crew to steer it right now.

Guess I might be too entrenched in the JunLin days when there was an equal amount of strong singers to balance it out.

Yeah, but usually that girls leaving. This is the first time we've had so many girls being added so fast since like 5th gen.

I agree that MM will be fine for fans that follow the girls a lot, casual fans may have a hard time getting used to new faces all the time. Ah well! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nceman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':danceman:' />

Seems like Karin Miyamoto is a lock for 11th gen. They've been pushing her a lot recently, and I have to believe its for the purpose of adding her to Momusu. Every generation needs an ace (Riho, Haruka, etc.), and Karin can fill that role easily.

So its probably Karin and 1-2 other newcomers. One of them will probably be older, to give the group some balance age-wise.

I'd like to not think Karin is a shoe in, just because If she doesn't make it. I don't want to get my hopes up and feel sad about it, kinda like Sara.

Unless Tsunku and UFA live under rocks the should know that from a fan perspective that Karin is needed in the group. She has fans, she can bring in fans that were lost with Risa and Aika. There is no reason why they shouldn't add her.

Unless of course they REALLY are trying to make her a soloist. That's the only explanation as to why they would keep denying her a group.

Either way, I love auditions and can't wait to get my hopes built up just to see them dashed away. Image Good times, I've missed them so.

Ace is kind of a useless term since people have different definitions of it. And people thought she was a shoo-in for S/mileage as well, so I wouldn't count on it.

I suppose by "ace" I mean someone who will be instantly popular with the fans. Usually this is due to talent.

Riho and Haruka are far and away the most popular members of their respective generations. They were also the fan favorites during the auditions.

Karin is already popular with the wotas. If Mixi rankings are any indication, she's more popular than any members of S/Mileage second generation. She's pretty, a good singer, a good actor (just watch Reborn) -- she has no major downsides.

Adding her to Momusu is a no-brainer. Making her a soloist is too risky. Just look at Kikkawa Yu, who seems to be struggling, despite her sizable talents and major label support.

I don't think the fact that they're pushing her as an egg has anything to do with whether or not she gets into a group. It's not like Mizuki got a big push right before being added to MM. It had been quite a while since her brief time as a Shugo Chara Egg, and I don't recall hearing anything else about her. Admittedly I don't follow the eggs too much, but I don't remember hearing all about Take-chan or Rina doing a ton of stuff before they were added to S/mileage.

Also, I've yet to see anything that says "eggs are allowed to audition" which makes me sad. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> As much as I love Karin and would rejoice at her being added, I don't think there's any real way to predict the weird decisions that get made at audition time. The fact that Karin got passed over entirely during the last round of auditions makes me wary too. What would be the reasoning for taking the girls they did back then (10th gen MM + 2nd gen S/mileage) and saving Karin for later?

The problem with Kikka is that they waited too damn long, they didn't have her debut within H!P, and they've made all of her best songs b-sides. People forgot who Kikka was while she was doing a big nothing between Milky Way and her solo debut. She can't really feed off of the core H!P fanbase, because she isn't fully integrated with the other girls. She should have been a full participant in the Hello Concerts, getting segments on Hello Pro Time, running around with Mobekimasu, interacting with the other H!P girls . Take advantage of what you have. If they wanted to instead get her liked by the general public and avoid the H!P wota stigma, they should have put her less-cutesy idol songs as a-sides instead of b-sides and tried to snag some anime/tv tie ins, something. Buut instead she's stuck in between and can't get any good promo from either side. If they do the same with Karin, I'm sure she'll be in the same boat.

Mizuki hadn't done anything other than Shugo Chara and even then, I'm pretty sure most people still had to go look her up when they heard she was joining. Akari was in Shin Mini Moni (people might have known her more though since she's Maimi's cousin) and Rina hadn't done anything.

On the other side of things, Noto Arisa is an Egg who did a ton of stuff and still never actually debuted in H!P. There's just no guarantee.

Maybe they'll bring Dayeon out of wherever they've been hiding her and try the foreign girl thing again. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /crazy.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

No comment on the H!P limbo game, but I'm just overjoyed that Sayu is leader. I'm torn between wanting a huge MM and wanting maybe two people for 11th gen instead of 10th and 9th's four. I'd say one, but yeah, we've seen how that's ended up before. Competition for spotlight in a room full of ten other girls keeps the girls interesting and creative with ways to stick out, so I'd hate to see them stagnate and get complacent again. I have no opinion on Karin, but if she's talented enough to give the other MM girls a run for their money, I'm willing to say yes to that.

Either way, bring on the auditions! This is the fun part of being an MM fan. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /crazy.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Apparently you need to be at least 10 years old on April 1st, and her 10th birthday was on April 28th.

Too bad H!P couldn't make a small exception for her.

I totally forgot she was Maimi's cousin! I'm surprised there's never any mention of this, or more joint activities for the two of them. I can't say I've ever seen the two of them interact.

Yes. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I loved the Onna ni Sachi Are -> Otoko to Onna lineup (aside from Koharu) because overall they sounded great, they were good performers, and they generally got pretty good songs. It was a mature group that had members who worked really well together. But in terms of personality... the complacency factor was huge. Even the girls who did have lots of personality made less effort to show it off. These days even the older girls are working hard to stay relevant.

I'd kind of like to see a 12-15 member Musume, but only if they go back to splitting up the lines the way they used to. It's okay to have some front girls, or to put out a Mr. Moonlight/Roman every once in a while, but I liked it better when each girl at least got one solo line in the singles. We saw more of them in the PVs and on stage, and I think it helped the girls stand out. It also breaks things up, and it doesn't matter as much if a few girls are weaker singers because not every solo part is some long belted line. If we get an even bigger group and half of them are lucky to even be in a duo line, there's not much point in having all of those girls around.

Edit so I don't double post:

Yes! She writes her entries on paper and her mom types them up for her. B'awww.

Honestly, as much as I love Cuca, I think it's better that she wait for 12gen. I didn't realize she was quite that young, and as adorable and talented as she is, just barely 10 is really damn young. If girls that young have to be idols, they should be singing nothing but MiniMoni. As dedicated as she is to MM, I don't think there's any risk of her losing interest or going off to AKB or something in the interim.

I've never seen Akari and Maimi interact either, but the age gap might be why. If they're close UFA should have them do something cute together.

Also, poor Ogawa, being the only girl in Shabondama to not get an actual line.

I... don't care. =/

I still don't even know the 10th gen kids, except for Ayumi because of her beautiful eyes.

And I completely forgot about Haruna, who was my favourite during the auditions, until I just came a cross a pic of here and Ayumi.

I'll watch some of the audition clips probably, just out of curiosity though.

I'm not at all surprised about the auditions, I saw it coming especially since two members just left instead of the original one. I'm excited!

I agree with Cuca though, no matter how much I would love for her to be in now, it would be better if she waited. I don't really think Tsunku would even consider adding a 10 year old, then again you never know.

If they're going to make MM huge again, they should really bring back Hello!Morning and follow the same model as its original form. Karaoke games where you get sprayed if you are left with the last line, absurd games where the losers don't get to eat, random stuff like when they're blindfolded and have to identify the item that is being dangled in front of them, and of course, the bus skit. An occasional amusement park with haunted house night vision camera works too.

Considering the ages of most of the group, it's their duty to put this group into goofy situations on a weekly basis. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /noway.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':noway:' /> Make it happen!

Oh auditions again! So many new girls!!! Sayu's reign has begun as well. I wonder who'll get chosen. But to all that Karin speculation, I kinda feel like if Tsunku wanted her in, she would have been in already.

I think they felt she was a little too young during the last auditions or lacked the finishing touches.

They want her to come into the group and be the singing ace from day 1.

That would be great if the current lineup has the natural charisma to make it work. I'm not saying they don't because I really don't follow the group anymore, but that's what made the old Hello Morning good.

This is exactly why Idoling!!! and AKB succeed right now for many people, is they have the chemistry and the venue to display their chemistry in fun and entertaining ways. I haven't seen that much of either Idoling or AKB's TV shows, but what I have seen has been absolute genius and I see tons of screen shots of episode I didn't get to watch, and the stuff is priceless. Their shows seems to be more or less exactly how H!M was in its glory days, with the games, skits, vacation episodes, performances, and just general group exposure and fun. It must be pretty bad for H!P nowadays that they can't get any station to give them a slot, because Idoling!!! and AKBINGO have already been on the year for around 7 years each now.

I'm not sure they had enough interesting/funny people to make a "live" or off the cuff type funny show to work in the past.

But now with 9th and 10th gens being really crazy I can see a H!M type show actually working.

Then again I like H!P time, the behind the scenes, private time, members just relaxing and chatting really gives a great insight into the person behind the idol.

on the flip side I think H!P time is only interesting for H!P fans.

Whereas a variety type show is more likely to gain new fans.
