Completely agree with everything. I live this song. Is it just me or does anyone else get a Nicki Minaj type vibe at the very beginning? Great job Tsunku please don't screw this one up with the PV.

Tsunku doesn't completely deal with the PVs though afaik. I think once he produces the song it's up to UFA how they deal with the PV.

I love the song and dance, but I really don't see how Haruka looks sexed up in this, she just looks badass like for Ultra Smart, except more covered up.

I love this song. Riho and Reina sound good and at least all the girls got a solo syllable Better than nothing.

Somehow I fear the pv. Since the song is this good I feel like they're bound to mess up on the pv

Oh no no no the outfit isn't the problem for me, the problem is the super thick eyeliner and the lipstick.

If she were older appearing I don't think it would be an issue for me, it isn't for Riho but she looks a lot older than she is.

Yeah, I agree with Haru, it's the heavy make-up they put on her.

It's the really heavy eye makeup. It was a lot lighter on most of them, especially the girls with small eyes.

I love everythiiiing. Jumping in on the bandwagon with everyone else. Though I disagree about Haruka. I don't think heavy makeup = prostitute/too adult. My only complaint is that autotune is a bit over-abused, but I'm holding off on truly saying that until I hear this in HQ.

Someone else mentioned the dance seeming a bit sloppy/off, which I agree on. It seems like they had less time than usual to prepare for this performance though, so I imagine once they have more practice time it'll be phenomenal.

Yeah, that says it all really. Can't wait for a studio version. I don't remember the BBS being so unanimous about a new single in a long time. Turtle, Ap and Newtype. I'll call them the Doomsday Boys.

[/quote]

I like that title :) Its very accurate.

But sorry guys, this song is really bad. It sounds like a cheap imitation of Kpop or something, with the now-trendy autotuned, keysounded, edited, vocaloid-ish sounding vocals. But at least Kpop has really high production values and a flashy, hi-fi sound to the arrangement, even if the music behind the arrangement sucks, but this just sounds amateur. They're gonna have to try a lot harder to even come close to restoring the quality that MM had even as late as 2009. This is leagues behind Nanchatte Renai.

I don't have any opinion yet on the song however, since I'm not interested in seriously judging low-quality rips.

Maybe it's just the off camera angle, or maybe they're not yet that well trained in the choreography, but it seems really wacky.

I wonder who's voice they've sampled for the micspam. Sounds like Riho to me.

It's certainly stylish !

I will never understand why, in H!P fandom, anything with autotune or a dance beat gets accused of being a Kpop rip off. This does not sound like a kpop melody at all, I would actually say this sounds A LOT like a Vocaloid song.

I didn't say the melody sounded like Kpop, but the arrangement sounded like it. The melody was far more like vocaloid, so its more of a combination of both, neither of which are music styles that I enjoy.

I....don't get why everyone is creaming their pants over this song. I agree with AEUG, except that it sounds like American pop I can hear on the radio and not in the best way. Maybe I need a better rip/better quality video to truly judge it.

I love the look, the song not so much, the auto tune is wayyyyy overpowering. And I love me some auto tune (I listen to Lights all day, every day). Good thing it's a double a-side.

That awkward moment when you suddenly realize the 10th Gen isn't completely worthless.

Despite everyone doing a great job... Eripon - this girl deserves some serious props. She worked it harder than anyone else on that stage!

And Masaki (currently my least favorite member... but after this probably not for long) was in some sort of major diva mode that she needs to stay in forever. That hairstyle is totally her look, too.

While it may have been flawed, EVERYONE shined pretty bright in this performance. For once I wasn't forced to focus solely on Reina despite her having all of the lines. Hope the MV more or less keeps this trend and makes an attempt to really showcase what this new lineup has the potential to achieve.

Also, this is easily the most TRULY trendy Morning Musume has ever sounded. The fact that it's very modern sounding and comparatively lies pretty far outside of Tsunku's normal cheap-synth H!P niche makes it easy fodder for K-pop comparisons. Though I completely disagree with any K-pop arguments, I feel this is the direction Morning Musume needs to dabble in more often in order to gain new fans. Tsunku's ideas of "trendy" and "modern" have never matched up with what the rest of popular culture has defined them as until now, and it sounds wonderful!

I think that has more to do with Tsunku trying to continue to cater to the niche market H!P/idol music already caters to. But I for one love Kpop, and find the MM song awesome, so I'm all for it! Yeah, the autotune is too much, but autotune's been overpowering music for years now, so I can ignore it in favor of awesome song in this case.

It's mostly the image IMO that draws people to this single. This song (and most pop, really) is only half as awesome without the image to go along with it, so it helps that H!P actually gave them outfits, hair, makeup, and a dance that doesn't suck at all. Renai Hunter was pretty good other than the horrible dance, so this is definitely an improvement.

Jijipress covered the Tokyo Girl Awards, and with it a much cleaner rip of the song then what's been floating around. (Hey, Wonder Girls are there too!)

I love how Eripon has this kind of powerful stage presence when you watch her facial expressions while she dances. She's improved so much from when she first joined and I hope she becomes a really good dancer one day, like maybe Eri level, which I don't know is possible, but it would be cool~

I also like how Ayumi is becoming the face of the 10th gen because she is my favorite 10th gen member :D

Masaki also has this really cute thing going with her face on that reminds me of Kanyon. Her dancing is getting good too, it was sharp and clean during tha parts I saw her.

I think Haruna is the worst dancer though...I love her, but watching her in some parts of this song is :/

I think I actually plan on buying this single! Which means I really like it, cause I kinda checked out of H!P for a couple months...

True, true! Masaki is really starting to shine. I'm really enjoying watching them grow. Not that I want Sayu to leave, but as far as energy levels go, if the younger girls keep bringing it this hard, I won't be as worried about them as I thought I would be then the 6th gen is gone.

I was listening to the song earlier, and my husband (who isn't really into JPOP) said, "THAT's Morning Musume? Wow!" He's more of a classic rock type of guy, so I thought it was interesting that he was impressed.

Yeah, I've got to say Erina has blossomed in a ridiculous way. I basically blew her off right away and didn't pay attention to MM at all for 9 months, and now I come back to this.

A slow clap of respect, Ikuta. A slow clap of respect.

Is that video seriously high standards for H!P performances nowadays? The entire dance looked terrible and messy, no one stood out for the entire duration of the song, and it looked even worse every time the camera would see the dance from another angle. Everyone is freaking out talking about how amazing it is and how everyone shines in their own way, all I saw was a bunch of girls that all looked the same flapping around randomly to Kpop music. Seriously dumbfounded by this, guys. Is the hype of a new leader this much that we overlook everything about the actual music and performances? I give up

We're fans of the group, of course we're impressed.* I don't think you've called yourself a fan for a long time, AEUG. /shrug

*edit - To extrapolate, from the starting point of the new girls to that performance now is a great leap in skill and stage presence. If you've only midly tuned in then you wouldn't notice that, me thinks.

** We're also really glad it's not chicken outfits.

Yeah, it's not that this is the greatest thing I've ever seen. The dance wasn't super polished and the autotune was a bit much. However, Ikuta was a cringeworthy and awkward lost cause to me last time I saw her. I come back 9 months later and she's actually got stage presence. Seeing the improvement is really cool.

And frankly, I haven't liked any of their songs in ages, so it's refreshing to hear one I enjoy,

When you fade in and out of a group that is constantly evolving like Morning Musume is doing, it's hard to notice improvement on a small scale.

It must be on a really small scale, cause I didn't notice any stage presence from anyone at all except Reina stepping out in front every once in a while.

Reina's the center of the dance routine and has 95% of the solo lines, so of course you noticed her when she was being thrown in your face every second. It really is up to you on why you didn't notice anyone else, but I can say Sayumi, Ayumi, Haruna, and Haruka really jumped out to me watching that live. The dance wasn't entirely spot-on as someone else noted earlier, and the performance was lipsynced to hell and back. But beyond all that, major improvements have been made here for members, image, and for Tsunku as a producer. That's why everyone is excited, but whether or not you see those things is up to you.
