The Zukki Appreciation Thread

Post by tsukinobyouin »

I couldn't decide if this was better for this forum or for members territory. Someone else decide and move if needed! :D

As was discussed in the 50th single thread, Zukki is awesome and doesn't get enough love. It was suggested that something nice be done for her and I pounced on that and am happy to spearhead the campaign.

Zukki's birthday is August 5th. By then the summer tour will have started and I'm betting the girls will get to do tour blogs on Pocket Morning - Zukki has never blogged much, but hey, she showed appreciation for that fan who put a dance unit together at her command, so you never know! She may find some way to thank us. But even if she doesn't, I know they get the stuff fans send in and I can't imagine she wouldn't be super happy.

SO. I'm thinking if we send a box of things from the BBS all together that would be fun. As long as nothing is too terribly heavy, I don't mind everyone sending things to me and I can post the box to the fan mail address. I think things like letters, cards, fanart, or any other small little gifts would be plenty. Also I think pictures of yourself are a nice touch too - especially if you held up a little "happy birthday" sign or something. If it's all letters/cards, I wouldn't mind putting it all into a book or album or something. If people have other suggestions or ideas, please say so!

I'm willing to translate any message up to ~100 words. If you write your own Japanese message and just want it looked over, any length is fine. I think people should print out their translations (or copy by hand if you're up for it) so that they can decorate and/or sign their own letter.

In order to get it there in time I'd want to send it at least a week in advance, maybe two. So we have about a month to decide what to do and get it done. Go go!

I LOVE this idea. I think I can put together a Japanese letter. When is the deadline? I just love this girl and think she's the best addition since 5th gen.

Very tentatively speaking:

Deadline for Things Needing Translation or Checking: July 13th

Deadline for Things Needing No Checking: in my mailbox by July 20th

(Dates in EST because that's where I am.)

That's assuming I'm the only translator and I don't have to do anything but put it all in a box and that I ship on the 21st to allow two weeks. If other translators volunteer to help or if people want to bind the stuff together in some way the dates would change a bit.

I'm probably going to do something, but it won't be anything that would need translating. I just have to decide what.

If you need any help with the Japan side, I can help! I might go to the summer concert but I don't know right now exactly what I want to do for summer vacation. If you also need help translation, I can also help.

Zukki is one of my favorite girls right now, she has great personality!

I can help translate, but only on the computer. If anyone needs to you can PM me with the message you want translated.

You could just paste it into word and print it out.

Yeah, that's the system I meant to use. People PM or post their messages in the thread, they get a translation, then they print it out and decorate as they please. :)

Me too! I need to think of what to send and/or write.

Thank you for offering to do translations. I really want to take advantage of that and really write something heartfelt and inspiring to her in 100 words or less. And I want to maybe send her a little trinket or something that she can't get from anywhere but here! Hmm...

This is a wonderful idea! Count me in! Seeing Zukki in the Majisuka PV was one of the reasons I decided to follow MM again. She was one of the first members from the 9th gen who really stood out to me. :-)

I was just thinking of writing a letter but after reading Rally's comment I kind of want to find her a little something from Canada as well. :D :D

Seeing how Zukki shares her birthday with one of the admins of the best Morning Musume forum on the Internets, I'll definitely participate. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... smooch.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='=3=' />

As for the length, as long as it's somewhere around 100 words it's fine - and if you're able to get it in really early, longer is fine too. I just wanted to put a general size cap on it in case a ton of people joined in or I turned out to be the only translator. Since other people volunteered to help it should be fine :)

And I like the idea of people sending her things from your local area! As long as it's nothing super heavy (unless you're willing to donate to the shipping to Japan fee xD). Sadly the famous products of my area are tobacco, wine, and peanuts <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' /> Maybe I'll get some Obama stuff from DC. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I don't think you have to translate your messages. Because we Japanese have to start studying English on going to junior high school, that is, she must more or less do it.

The reasons I recommend so are that H!P members can be conscious of overseas fans and that your messages in English can be motivation for their studying English.

Of course, you should care about their vocabulary. It seems the level of their vocabulary is not so high because of their work.

More important, your messages convey your love to her. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

So, English messages would be okay as long as it's kept simple? I can do that.

Man, the only things Texas has that I can think to send are something like boots or cowboy hats. Texas Trash is tasty and loved by nearly all, but food will most certainly be tossed away. Hell, I wouldn't eat food from a fan if I was famous either. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I'll think of something!

Food is 99% likely to be thrown out since the risk of poisoning is there (as per Dran of Hello! Online when asking about giving something to Maasa).

She impresses me as the kind of girl who loves cute things, something silly like puzzle erasers or stuffed animals, maybe coin purse? Something like that. Shame she isn't expressive with her loves, like Chinami and Toy Story or Maasa and anime for example. That would make it easy to shop for her.

TnB do you have the address btw?

I'm going to make sure to include a hand-written english note, but I still want to have someone translate it for me so I can include a little Japanese print out of my message attached for her to still understand.

I think this is a nice sentiment, but to be honest I'm not really confident in the academic abilities of most idols. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hahaha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hahaha:' /> I think if it was very simple English and short it would be okay, but if people want to express a little bit more it might be good to have a translation. I do like the idea someone else mentioned of sending the English along with the translation, it definitely heightens the impact that this is from overseas fans.

But in the end it's up to each person who writes their letter whether they want it translated or not :) I'm happy to put anything in the box!

Agreed on food - the other problem is shipping. The box will have to go through customs, and any food might delay it's time-sensitive journey. I wish I knew more about what she liked too :( I'll try to go back through pocket morning questions and stuff to see if she mentions anything.

I believe the address is on the H!P site... somewhere. I'll have to look it up again. But if we're going with the idea of sending everything in one box, I'll PM my address to people as they need it :)

How about bunting with letters printed on each flag to spell her name? and a pennant too!

Who here can draw?

Weird summer fun stuff, e.g. a pineapple pitcher! I am serious btw. She definitely has a sense of humour.

I don't think you want to get stuff too big because this still needs to be shipped to Japan and the bigger the box the more expensive it's going to be.

I'll probably just make her small stuff, draw something, whatever. I'll think of something.

I am in to do something. I may write a little letter and send a picture with me holding a sign saying Happy Birthday Zukki!!!!! decorated all pretty. I would write her a shot story but that would well exceed 100 words and I cannot translate it. I love this idea
