So, I keep hearing that MM-BBS hates Koharu, and if this is true, why is that? I asked this in the chat as well, I was told it was a combination of her voice and personality. But this confuses me, as her voice and personality are the best things about her.
Her voice is unique and stands out, and it's adorable. Her personality is weird and adorable, which is kind of why I'm looking forward to Haruna being another Koharu. Koharu is like a real life Radical Edward (Cowboy Bebop). I loved the way she played the prince in Ribbon, and how she's basically a natural model (Hence why she's a model right now).
So, tell me, how can you hate such a perfect creature?

Er... no. That's not how singing works. But actually, Koharu puts on a fake voice both for singing and speaking. I can definitely accept that people may not like her voice, since I know it's not the most normal voice in the world. While I generally like Mitsui well enough (she's definitely not one of my favorites), I think she'd be considerably better if she'd stop it with the fake idol voice. When Mitsui's real voice slips through (IE: When she's not 'on'), it's rather awesome. So I can relate to the dislike of an idol persona voice.

Wtf BBS, I just heard you hate Gaki too? Koharu I can understand. I can remove myself from it and look at her impartially and see all of her flaws that I love so much. But Gaki... Gaki is absolute perfection. Sure, she doesn't have Takahashi's freakishly prodigy-like singing talent, but that is no reason to hate her! She is still talented, and she is awesome!

She is obnoxious and loud. That's the only problem I've ever had with her. If she were obnoxious and loud in a quirky, funny way like past members (Yaguchi, Makoto, etc) I would LIKE it, but it's like she thinks saying something loudly and obnoxiously makes it automatically entertaining or funny. I can't stand people like that.

Gaki is boring and has a diva attitude. That's why I never liked her. She was complacent to just be accepted into MM and never wanted to stand out, so she never bothered. Thus, she outlived Ai in MM but we hardly noticed her at all for the entirety of her tenure.
She had great talents, is--in my opinion--the most gorgeous member MM's ever had, and could've been a great mama hen to the younger gens if she'd wanted to stay leader for more than six months. But she was just never driven to do anything interesting, never connected with the other members (just read the graduation messages they gave her), and always felt like the random, I'm-too-good-to-be-here chick IMO. To that, I say move on to bigger pastures and I hope you have a great life, but I want more people in MM who give two shits about being there.
To be fair, I think a lot of it had to do with her being 100% honest when she said the MM in her heart died when Yossi graduated. She just never cared about the group the same way after that, and it really showed. She should've graduated back then if she was just gonna sit around in MM feeling like it just wasn't all that great anymore.

*Except Abe Natsumi, my goddess. Abe Natsumi is the greatest singer who's ever been in Morning Musume, in my opinion. Though I will say Takahashi comes very close to her, if not equal. Which of the two are better probably comes down to preference, because I've seen them both show an amazingly wide variety of singing talents and vocal versatility.
I agree that I believe Gaki loves Morning Musume. But I will say that I can accept the criticisms of Gaki more so than Koharu. This is mainly because the things against Gaki are, to me, more reasonable criticisms. While Koharu creates angry mobs with pitchforks and Coconuts Musume albums.

Which of the two are better probably comes down to preference, because I've seen them both show an amazingly wide variety of singing talents and vocal versatility.
I agree that I believe Gaki loves Morning Musume. But I will say that I can accept the criticisms of Gaki more so than Koharu. This is mainly because the things against Gaki are, to me, more reasonable criticisms. While Koharu creates angry mobs with pitchforks and Coconuts Musume albums.

I'm positive based on how she acted the moment she was admitted to MM that she loved MM and was a huge fan. She even said she'd already achieved her dream just by getting in (Here at 6:30ish), but it always felt like that really was it. No dreams of anything IN MM, just to be in it. And I don't think this was the fault of UFA not pushing her because she had some great lines in many, many songs. It just felt like she herself never wanted to do anything more.
EDIT: Oh lord, Magnes, you really wanna touch the idea of Nacchi being a better singer than Ai. D: We'll need a thousand separate threads for all this what.

That I can understand and even agree with. I just couldn't follow the idea of her thinking she was too good for the group. I take her comments to Yossi to mean more like... Yossi was the last remaining member of the group that was there when she was just a fan, so her graduation was a big deal to Risa. She had to be feeling a lot of pressure that the 5th gen were suddenly the senpai of the group. But I think in the end, Risa actually started to stand out a lot more as a performer in the years after Yossi graduated. She seemed to really enjoy the "mature" Musume period, and I didn't notice her feeling like "sooo ready to be out of here" until after Takahashi graduated. At that point she just seemed to feel really lonely and out of place, which is understandable.

That's just how I take her aloofness to the group. Reina's always been a one woman show, so I really can't help seeing Risa's inability to meld with the rest of the group the same way. "I fulfilled the Morning Musume dream, so I'll just be over in this corner doing my own Gaki thing." I can't think of any other reason to be so separate from the other girls other than plain ol' lack of interest in the whole shebang.

Truthfully, the only members Risa ever seemed close to to me were Takahashi and Kamei. I think she would have been a great leader but since she didn't have any friends in the group anymore, I think she decided to bail. I can't blame a girl her age for not wanting to hang out with middle schoolers.
