Morning Musume's 50th Single "One•Two•Three/The Matenrou Show"

I really like the dance and the song, but I'm sad that this was The Reina & Riho Show.

Someone else said that there's no excuse for them not to give everyone line's here and I agree. There's a lot of short lines and they could have given them to other girls, and still have a Riho Reina sing the main parts. This feels like less of a group song to me and more a duet feat. Tsunku... D: Even if it wasn't solo parts, they could have had 2 or 3 girls singing some of those lines.

I like the dance a lot. Looks like a tribute to prior Momusu dances, just like 1-2-3, but that's a great concept IMHO.



The song is about a minute too long, however.



I hope this song gets a decent, sparkle-free PV of its own. Maybe they plan on releasing it during the second week, to maintain fan interest.

Edit: after rewatching I'm pretty sure Resonant Blue is in it too.

Yes. Basically they've turned Morning Musume into Exile with this song, which is absurd. Even at the height of Takahashi's lording over the vocals, it was never this bad. I'm just hoping this is a brief Furusato moment and they never go here again. The song itself is fun, more of a b-side than double a-side material, but enjoyable... if it weren't for this being a Reina/Riho duet. Riho even sounds like she's improved a lot which is great, but there's no reason at all for this crap line distribution.



Also the reuse of the PV costumes and set make it more of a joke. It's really disappointing after how well One.Two.Three (despite the bling) and the b-sides turned out. I guess that's to be expected with UFA though. Everything else was just too good! We needed one thing to be crap to keep up the standard.

I think it has more to do with blowing all the budget on the one A-side that actually mattered. Matenrou should've just been a B-side if promotions turned out like this, but I'm guessing there was a looot of miscommunication between whoever decided on two A-sides and the promotions side of things.

Personally, I thought Maji desu ka Ska had fabulous line distribution - Reina and Ai were leads, but only by one line, but they got the more diva-y part of the song whereas the others got the lines that required less vocal skill. If every single were like that, I wouldn't bitch. This single has a ridiculous lead by Reina and Riho, especially considering it is debatable whether or not Riho even deserves to be a lead based on vocal merit.

So instead of opening a door to see what is on the other side, the used the same background and costumes. Looks like no mash together like Kono Chikyu....../Kare.... Thats a bummer. I thought the combining songs was cool. Aside from the same set/costumes I do like the song and the dance is really fascinating.

I foolishly thought Maji would mean a return to good things. I haven't been this disappointed since MKB's Onegai Miwaku no Target was turned from all 4 girls getting equal billing in indies release to the Ayumi show for the official release (which then became the official performance version) I can hope for a reverse of that situation for the Matenrou Show, but we all know hope is for foolish fools foolishly believing in foolishness.



MM has the best potential it's had in years and yet it is being wasted. Plus, while i"m happy they're getting good sales, I'm worried management in UFA will see it as an excuse to sell the Reina/Riho show. 50th single that showcases 2 girls in the dual a-sides. MEH. I still like the songs, but they would be better with more girls. What's the point of having them in the group? Riho isn't even the best Riho. Matenrou show is fun but I can already tell I'm not going to listen to it for the coming months. Reina's voice is really starting to grate on my nerves.

Probably Joshi Kashimashi somewhere, which was kind of in general referencing other things. I think Kimagure Princess too...

Also, Resonant Blue & Naichau's locations look like they would encounter some horrible beast from an RPG.

The dance is solid and far better in sync than One.Two.Three, I just feel a little disappointed that they used the same bland



crapptastic background as they did for One.Two.Three. My guess is that most of the money went into promotion; like the billboard.



The song isn't really my taste but in all honesty it's not that bad. I actually liked reina's voice in the song even though I don't



like how she dominated the song with Riho. Did anyone eles notice the circle formation around Riho midway though the PV. IT'S LIKE

It bugs the heck out of me because Morning Musume is a group and in the past even the weaker singer where given a spot light like



Namida ga Tomaranai Houkago where Konno and Sayu were the leads. Maji de suka ska! was a great song especially since the 9th gen



were supposed to be the embodiment of Genki. The lines were given out fairly. Then Only You came out and that was the end of it.

What bothers me is that Riho ISN'T one of the stronger singers - she is not any better than Mizuki or Haruka, both of whom were clearly added to the group for their vocal talent, and somehow it has yet to be utilized in any way. Somehow, Tsunku keeps snagging good singers and doing NOTHING with them.

Riho's getting better, but her voice suffers from a serious case of the grates. It's very unpleasant sounding.



Letting the other girls sing would really help balance out the voices too. It's been sounding seriously weird to hear the adult voices and then hear Riho come in, especially in the "cooler" sounding songs.

Mizuki and Haruka are both fine dancers and cute (Mizuki is more than cute, really. She's beautiful.). It's less that, and more pandering to the wota because they're attached to Riho.

I think Mizuki will definitely move up in the ranks if she keeps up this sudden surge of personality and style she's put into both the One.Two.Three and TMS PVs. While she's totally one of the more talented members, before this I never really noticed her. She actually came off as a little boring.

Mizuki was definitely packing on the sex appeal in the PV. Erina too. It's kind of awkward because they're so young, but they both definitely had more of a sexy vibe than anyone else. I don't think Riho is especially cute looking at all, to be honest LOL. I mean everyone in the group is attractive, but I do not consider her to be in the upper tier of cuteness/prettiness. Not gonna lie, I think Haruna prettiness is kind of over rated - I think she's got a major case of the crazy eyes and basically looks like a bugeyed Mano/Maimi type. I'd say Sayu and Erina are the prettiest in the group to me, right now. I think Haruka and Zukki will be knock outs when they're older, Mizuki is pretty but her crooked face is incredibly distracting to me, and Riho and Reina are just kind of. There. Not amazing to look at like Sayumi, but not ugly either.

Song isn't bad and I think the dance is pretty good too. I guess we wont know till the end of the month what will be on the Single V. Heck they might even hold off and throw the MV for it on the album as an incentive to buying it but who knows. I've gone past the land of wondering and just get surprised. Being a H!P fan is like having Christmas with your relatives, you never know what to expect good or bad.



I wonder how much hate there was when Furusato was released? And then Love Machine came and BOOM instant explosion with the new girl Maki. I expect new girl/s 11 will have the same effect because you know Tsunku is looking for vocal talent this time and he'll use it in the next single. Though the boom probably wont be as big.



Also, Morning Musume jumped to #2 today with 13,824. They are now at 84,067.

I'm hoping that this is just like Furusato/SHOCK. A one time deal. The thing with Love Machine is that while Maki was undoubtedly center and got a huge amount of public attention, she in no way overlorded the lines in the song. Everybody had their moment, even if it was small. That's really all I ask for. I like Riho, and I liked Takahashi before her, and I don't mind having leads at all. Other than Reina, because her voice aggravates me and she doesn't have the energy as a performer to be a lead. But MM used to be very good about having leads while still giving everyone a line or two, or at least a moment to shine. I hope Sayu sticks around for a while (Reina can gtfo any time now <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... stling.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' /> ), but when 6th gen is gone I hope we're not left with a group full of girls who have had almost entirely no exposure. I'm hoping they start giving these girls more to do at least in concerts. When you're constantly stuck in the back and have very few lines, there's way less pressure (and opportunity) to improve at singing and dancing.

Tsunku's background vocals in TMS creep me out, and I'm so ready for Reina to effing leave. At least she did the dance in this one. Fall graduation? Please? She can stick around in her rock band and I'll watch her there. They can sit Aika on the drums since she and Reina get along and Aika won't have to move. Problem solved.



Tsunku's attitute seems to be, "I'm going to snatch all of the singers so you can't have them! Then I'm not going to use them and lord it over your head that I have good singers and you don't!" Or something like that.



At least the costumes are cute anyway. If they were awful and they were reused, then that would really bite the big one.

With those sales it means that in three days they sold more than the overall sales of every single from "Namida ga Tomaranai Houkago" and the first week sales from "shabondama" (not included) - it miss only around 200 copies to surpass "as for one day" first week sales.

I noticed the dance tribute thing too. Koko ni Iru ze, Iroppoi Jiretai, Manatsu no Kousen, Egao YES Nude, Ai Araba, Resonant Blue?, LOVE Machine, (not sure), Renai Revolution 21, and THE Peace all in the first 30 seconds. Happy Summer Wedding appears right before the chorus when they circle around Reina/Riho. I imagine all 50 songs may be in this one...

When I say attractive, I mean "not ugly/difficult to look at", LOL. If someone thinks anyone in H!P is ugly, they have ridiculously high standards. If they were completely hideous, they couldn't be idols.
