Ok after hearing that it does sound a little more similar. But with the lyrics they sound nothing alike to me.

Ok, it's difficult to describe music over the internet when you don't have the song playing while talking to someone...

Basically, the consistent synthesized "organ-like" sound of MM's song, is played almost the same way. SHINee intros with it, then drops that part, and brings it back later with other layers, so it's a bit more complex. I'm saying that UFA borrowed the way the synth is played in that specific part and just applied it to all of MM's song, and also kept a similar tempo.

Additionally, if you listen to the beat that begins right when Reina sings her first line "Hyaku-man DORU..." and compare it to the SHINee beat that starts at 16seconds/again at 54&1:28, (and this is obviously a simple pattern, nothing groundbreaking for either to use) they both do the same [boom *clap* boom boom *clap*] pattern in the percussion.

That's the bulk of why I thought SHINee's Lucifer might have inspired One・Two・Three.

There's not all that much going on in One・Two・Three, so by its simplicity, it sort of becomes a new song.

Well, that's a pretty basic sounding synth in both songs and the other elements you mentioned aren't characteristically unique to either group. It's kind of a K-pop sound, but OneTwoThree has a lot of pop/J-pop distinct elements.

Instrumental track for SHINee - Lucifer

They definitely borrowed something from SHINee. I'm not saying it's an exact copy, but there are similar decisions.

[/quote]

Yeah, it's very similar.

Funny, usually it's the other way around.

They got 3,856 for today, coming in at #2.

Total sales now, 98,703. They just need 1,300 (or 1,297 exact) tomorrow to make it to 100k. So very doable. Good job to the fans, staff for promoting it properly and the girls for making it possible. Image

Also here's a video of them at Sunshine with Yuko.

One of the guys at Takamaruyo attended the July 8th release event, and wrote a detailed summary.

He mentions that Zukki looked sick during the event and was coughing. Hopefully, she'll get some rest after all this 1-2-3 promotion ends.

It is so interesting how other fans are really alienated from wota <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I wonder how people find out about these events. I'd love to go.

Did she (somehow the writing and everything indicates to me it's a girl lol) go to a handshake event without having any tickets ? Or did I miss something ?

Seems a bit like a waste of time.

Awesome!

This beat Shabondama's first week sales (98,028), making it the best first week sales for 6th gen.

Highest first week sales since Koko ni Iruzee (139,070) in October 2002. That's nearly a decade. Just incredible.

Yup... It was totally Risa holding them back. It's either that or Sayu's godlike leadership skills.

Amazing! I honestly didn't think it was possible! I think this shows us where UFA have truly been slacking off - promotion. I'm not that surprised, according to my friends in Japan, you never see Momusu on television. No CMs, no tv show appearances, nothing. Maybe this new promotion technique will help remind a few people that the group still exists. That is, if they don't instantly start slacking after this.

OMG I'm so excited for them.... ;_;

Sayu breaking down with Yuuko's congratulations totally melted my heart.

GO MOMUSU!! :)

EDIT:

AND I think that other VERY cool thing that is happening with this single that I feel makes a big difference is the use of OGs as promoters of the single.

The fact is that many OGs are popular outside of wota world and until now it never seemed that OGs supported of promoted current momusu. It makes sense that doing that is helping with sales/popularity.

I really hope this trend continues.

Mark my words, it won't.

Does anybody here seriously think that this is anything more than a fluke? I don't mean to be Mr. Negative, but this IS UFA we're talking about.

The only way this could continue is if they keep up this level of promotion and doing all the hand shake events and mini lives as well as having a decent song. But I doubt they'll promote their next single as heavily as this one. The 50th one is special.

It's not a fluke if you can control it, it was far from just a lucky break, they know exactly what it takes to get this kind of result...

It's just that they probably won't bother next time <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hahaha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hahaha:' />

Hitting 50 singles is significant, whatever, whatever, but if they put the same effort into the next single, I do think they could achieve similar success.

At the very least, it might mean a good sign for the album, since people remember them now. Promote the hell out of that album, don't give up just yet.

Hopefully, 100k+ is enough return for the promotion. If they finally realize spending money will sell units, we can get better (read: higher production) MM. 50 singles is a big thing, but is it such a big draw on its own that its the only time all this promo is warranted? Let's hope not.

It's not just promotion. It's having a good product to promote, as well. If they go back to recording lackluster songs, all the promotion in the world won't make them sell.
