More details will probably hit the official site soon, but apparently it was just announced that Erina Mano will be graduating from Hello Project, supposedly at the winter HP tour.

I love the girl, but she was by far the worst soloist HP has ever had, so hopefully they'll give someone else a shot *coughChisatocough*

Saddddddd. She was cute. But I just couldn't bear to sit through some of her singles.

After Sayu graduates, H!P won't have anymore really, reallllly cute girls for me. Yuuka was cute, Mano was cuteee. Eri was suppper cute.

I honestly never really cared for Mano, none of her music really caught my attention. Of course it is sad she is leaving but I am not really shocked by it. She is getting into her 20's so it was bound to happen sooner or later.

And the search for a new soloist begins!

Can't really say I'm surprised, though. I was really starting to like her after her double A-side, but at least she'll (most likely) stick around in showbiz with her acting career.

In many ways, Maude Flanders Mano Erina was a supporting player in our lives Hello Project. She didn't grab our attention with memorable catchphrases, or comical accents. But, whether you noticed her or not, Maude Mano was always there ... and we thought she always would be.

I'm surprised, but she is at that graduating age. It's been a little over 4 years since her indies debut. She's been active for like 6 though with Ongaku Gatas, 7 with eggs. I'll miss Mano... D: I did really like her songs. We should get at least 1 more single out of her since her gradution's 6 months away.

Not that soloist have ever done anything noteworthy in H!P.

I think they work better in groups so I guess I wouldn't hate to see a H!P without a soloist. I just guess it would be strange.

Soloist may start off good, but after like one or two singles UFA tends to let them flounder and die. Nacchi is no exception. But then again, after her "scandal" the poor girl never recovered from it.

Now, if they made up a group of soloists that released as a group AND solo artists (Gomattou, Nochiura Natsumi, DEF.DIVA), then they might have a fighting chance, but that's slim to none of that ever happening anytime soon.

Folks at Takamaruyo translated Tsunku and Mano Erina's comments about the graduation.

Interesting to note it wasn't Tsunku who made her a soloist? At least that's what I got from the comments.

Maybe they realized Mano is better off as an actress/model? She actually gets non-play work and the most magazine stuff, so something like that would make perfect sense to me.

It is said in Japan that Tsunku is just a figurehead and the president of UFA (Yamazaki Naoki) always makes important decisions on H!P.

So basically it sounds like nothing about her career is really changing, she's just not going to be a part of H!P anymore? It's not like she's been terrible active lately.

That's kind of stupid, actually. If Mano is graduating just because of age, what about C-ute and Berryz? I hope this doesn't mean that the clock is ticking and they'll be put out to UFA pastures soon. Was there some sort of better reason for her departure that I missed? I pretty much take any "I want to expand my horizons" announcement to mean "I'm too old for this."

Lame reasons aside, I suppose this is kind of good housekeeping. Mano has always seemed out of place as a soloist within the H!P family. She's never gotten the big push of girls like Maki or Miki, and she seems the most left out on their TV shows. We don't hear a lot about her through the other girls on their blogs, so I get the impression that she didn't have as my opportunities to mingle. She didn't even get a solo line in the Mobekimasu song, which is kind of ridiculous considering she's the only actual soloist. Her music has been all over the place and she doesn't really have a solid image.

Speaking of Mobekimasu, I guess they're going to have to change that name now. Mobekisumi? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hatthe.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whatthe:' />

I hope this also means some new blood is on the way. It would be nice to have a new soloist with a real presence, or another small group. I know we have a lot of "new" faces already through MM and S/mileage, but it's not quite the same since they joined already existing groups.

I guess it's bad that I'm kinda happy about this. Girl turned out to be gorgeous, but I never cared for her voice or any of her songs and don't understand why she got a huge push.

Like others have said, I hope there will be a new soloist (who actually has the qualities deserving of a soloist)

Unless you somehow got extremely angry every time she interrupted your H!P concert with one or two songs and then left the stage, it's not like she couldn't be ignored since she was basically not even part of everyone else anyway. (Edit: This "you" is not directed toward anyone in particular)

Axing one soloist doesn't pave the way for a new one. They aren't mutually exclusive. If they wanted a new soloist, they'd have a soloist. Mano was almost certainly self-sufficient, it's not like she was using up resources that could be going elsewhere. If they were waiting for this to bring in a new one, that'd be dumb. Are there really fans who are like "Well, I can't like this new soloist until I stop having to support the old one"

She was always Taisei's baby. He's produced her since the beginning until he abandoned her 2 years ago to go off and do nothing. Tsunku hasn't produced an idol since Ogawa Mana.

There's no "There can be only one!" rule for soloists, but the problem here was that she was the only example to hold up in modern HP and say "This is our soloist!" And as much as I adore her, as far as singing and dancing are concerned, she's right there near the bottom of HP, and an extremely lousy representation of HP's talent pool.

She's gorgeous in pictures and I've loved the majority of her acting, especially when she's in comedic roles, but I hope she stays away from music.

This is true. But I'm wondering (hoping?) this is part of UFA's slow housekeeping process. Not just MM, but all of H!P got pretty stagnant for a while, then all of a sudden we have a bunch of back to back graduations and new members added. I'm wondering if Mano's graduation is the start of the next wave. Out with the soloist they can't be bothered to put any effort into, in with some fresh blood. I feel like that's UFA's general policy - instead of revamping their efforts on what they have, they just get rid of it and start over.

It's possible this was Mano's decision though. Maybe she got tired of being given crap material. Whatever you do Mano, don't run off to avex! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol:' />

Just as Mano actually started getting interesting, she's graduating. Just as soon as she gets decent songs, she's leaving. Blahhhh. Oh well. I was never super attached to her. Graduations in general just make me sad.

And they'd better not put Aika in her place.

I never understood why she was made a soloist and was always somewhat offended by it - she's 100% the worst vocally out of any soloist in H!P history. It was the first, and hopefully the last time a completely musically untalented girl was given a solo career. She would have been a hundred times more bearable to me were she in a unit, but seeing all of the other, more talented eggs in Ongaku Gatas get completely shafted because someone in management had a boner for her pissed me off.

That said, I always felt like she became an idol as a way to get to an acting career and I'm willing to bet this graduation was so that she could become a full-time actress.

I hope to god they don't make one of the current H!P members a soloist. Not because I dislike them, but because I want to see something new. And vocally, the only person who can hold up as a soloist is either Reina, Airi, or someone from Berryz. Most of which are Mano's age or older anyway. There's just no point of drawing from the already existing H!P talent pool of people who can actually sing. And as much as I say singing talent doesn't matter in H!P, you can't really blend a soloist into the background of a live to mask her lack of talent.

(What I'm saying is, no, it's not going to be Chisato).

If Mano Erina or Natsumi Abe can be a soloist, pretty much anyone can. I'm not seeing why you think Airi or Reina is significantly better than Chisato, tbh. They're all pretty much equal, they just have different strengths and weaknesses.
