The full setlists are both pretty dull. I'm disappointed.

^ Agreed. Overall, it's really boring. And Seishun Collection needs to die.

I think it's a better live song than in the studio. I REALLY wish everyone had been included in the small group songs. There's a lot of girls who were left out.

Me too, but they have different groups performing different days? They've done that before.

Aren't the people who aren't in those shuffles in this concert featured in the other concert? Like there's no Reina and Sayumi because they did their b-side and Kanyon and Meimi did their b-side? And there's the Cabbage people, etc, etc.

I'm happy about the groupings, but they picked some of the most bland and boring songs for them. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /noway.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':noway:' />
Also, do we really need a medley of Chou Happy Song? We need to hear each song separately and then together? It was cool at first but now they're just overdoing it.

I like Wkwk's setlist better than the other one. Isn't this suppose to be the 15th Anniversary concert? It would've been interesting that since Ktkr had mostly new songs, Wkwk should've had more older songs.

Some thoughts on the shuffles:
Kanon was quite good on her two lines. She surprised me.
Haruka also did very well, but I expected that.
Ayumi was awful, like one step above Erina.
Masaki was acceptable. She had one or two really good lines. At least, I think it was her. She doesn't sing loud enough.
Airi's singing almost makes me like Seishun Collection. Almost.

They changed the MM One.Two.Three outfits. The new ones are just icky. The rip of One.Two.Three didn't sound very good either. If Riho doesn't start singing right she's going to start developing polyps or scar tissue on her vocal cords and not be able to sing for a long, long time. Seriously. UFA should know this. Not that I even like the girl overmuch, but they could be cutting her career short. Plus, she sounds terrible.

One Two Three sounds very off without the autotune. It's not a live song. They should have just lip synced it.
I like the new outfits just a bit more than the other ones (which looks very cheap in close up photos). They've got built in padding so the girls don't look boxy anymore.

I dare you to tweet Tsunku that. Riho's gonna get polyps, stop making her sing!
I like the top half of the MM outfits, the bottom half is sort of off putting compared to the original.

I'd be fine with the top half of the costumes, but paired with the skirt, it's just too many stripes in too many directions.
I've been saying from the beginning that Riho's going to get nodules if they don't do something. Even if you're a fan, you should want the girl to learn how to sing in a way that's not going to permanently damage her voice and need surgery.

You're still right, Farrah!
I follow Tsunku on twitter. The dude tweets too much. If I did tweet it to him, he'd probably ignore me as an impudent gaijin or something. Take Adele. I heard she had a vocal injury and surgery, and she's actually regarded as a good singer.
Sad sad. Oh well. But it would stink if MM was on the rise and they lost their "ace" to shitty vocal coaching.

Adele's injury was partially because she's a smoker as well, but she did have surgery last year.

She's only been singing professionally for a year and a half though and I don't remember her yelling a lot in her audition. She wasn't good during it, but she didn't sound like she was dying the way she does now. I think it's just an issue of not being ready for the vocal load she's being handed and they're just having her do it the way she's doing it because it's getting the job done.
Or they're just not noticing it. Tsunku is always talking about how her singing is getting better.

I thought she always sounded very strained from the beginning, but it's gotten worse because she's been doing a lot of singing (and doing it the wrong way) and it's ruining her voice. Her singing has gotten better in some ways, though, so I can see why Tsunku would say that. But there's something fundamentally wrong with it that hasn't been fixed. That's what I think.

I hope that during the fall MM concert and next single they rely more on the other girls (*cough*Mizuki*cough*) to help with the vocals.

Earlier on I always attributed the strained sound to a lack of stamina.

For what it's worth, H!P's training is incredibly unethical. Seriously, I have seen them literally teach girls to do shit that is bad for the voice. In a video clip from right after the pandas debuted, Linlin was getting vocal lessons. She was singing a long note and sustained it wonderfully, with proper support and vibrato. It sounded full and mature and very healthy. The vocal trainer then made her do the line over and over, trying to show her how to do that "squeak" sound that Reina is known for at the end of her lines or when trying to hit a high note. Pretty much every idol singer from the last 2 decades does it - it's basically the contemporary "idol" way of singing, but any REAL vocal trainer will tell you that it's incredibly bad for your voice because that "squeak" at the end of lines A. Causes you to be more nasal, which is unhealthy and B. Causes you to compress your vocal cords, basically squeezing them, which is INSANELY unhealthy. They train the girls to sing a very bad way, and I honestly don't know why. The more old school idols I've heard (Onyanko Club, Nakamori Akina) don't seem to do it much, but I hear tons of it in AKB48, Momoclo, Momusu and even Dream and SPEED. SPEED's lead singer is especially guilty of it.
I might sound like I'm talking out of my ass, but I used to do the "squeak to hit high notes and end lines" thing because I sang idol music a lot as a hobby and was copying them, and my vocal teacher and choral director rip me a new one for it every single time I revert to it. According to them, it ravages your voice. It would definitely explain why Reina, Airi, and Chisato's voices have lost so much power and "thickness" over the years.

The sound quality of that video is terrible, you're hearing vocals that have zero effects on them.
Mano sounded awful.... she can hardly sing but this was shocking.
I can't fathom why UFA would -
a) Allow a live concert to happen without vocal mixing, effects.
b) Allow the press access to the pre-mixed vocals

If you go to the concert, it's gonna sound basically like this. I'm glad we get to see videos like this, you get to hear what the girls actually sound like before someone goes through and melodynes half the song. This concert doesn't appear to be different from any others, we're just not used to hearing the girls before the pitch and the levels are tweaked for the DVD.
