Intels are far better for over a year now. The Sandy and Ivys absolutely ra- destroy every single AMD CPU on the market. Especially for gamers.

The i5 3570k is the best high-midrange CPU right now imho.

Fair enough, I'm not in the market for CPUs so I wasn't following. My Deneb (X4 955 BE) is still more than sufficient for my needs today.

I got the 965 and felt like buying a 3570 this summer, but I instead invested the money into an AC.

(Un)fortunately it had been raining nearly constantly the past three weeks since I got it...

I guess I got Lone Survivor in an indie bundle a while ago or something.

This is me playing Lone Survivor:

(that...that's the jibblies. it gave me the jibblies.)

I played probably 5 minutes of it and I'm done. Got it. Scary game, understood. Copy that. I've got jibblies coming out the whazoo, which is crazy because I only get stuff going in my whazoo. I was just expecting Resident Evil-scary and I got Silent Hill-scrry. It's also really similar to Silent Hill in a bunch of ways. Anyway, my night has turned into one big NOPE.mkv.

You absolutely need to play the Source mod The Stanley Parable:

http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-stanley-parable/

"The Stanley Parable is an experimental narrative-driven first person game. It is an exploration of choice, freedom, storytelling and reality, all examined through the lens of what it means to play a video game."

I highly recommend not reading/watching/looking at anything else about this, it could ruin it for you.

And after all it's not that long (~1 hour for all endings).

Even better, it's free since it only required the Source SDK which Steam automatically downloads when you try to start it.

All you need to do is copy the thestanleyparable folder into your \Steam\SteamApps\sourcemods folder and restart Steam.

Nesh, you're going to love it.

Anyone playing The Secret World? I'm loving it so far. Yeah, it's an MMO, but the setting and writing are amazing and it plays quite well. I also love how the game is totally classless and levelless, so you can make any kind of character you want.

Ugh, I played the beta and I loved the atmosphere and the writing but god the gameplay was so awful. It was just miserable, it was so clunky and mathy and felt completely unconnected to the player. I felt bad for not liking it for seemingly shallow reasons but if I'm playing a game, I want the actual gameplay to be fun.

I made a mid-year resolution to stop playing multiple games at once and finishing none of them. So far, this plan has failed horribly. I am currently playing:

Lollipop Chainsaw (best game of 2012 so far),

Malicious,

Gungnir,

Valkyria Chronicles 2,

Persona 2: Innocent Sin,

Gravity Rush,

and I'm about to go pick up my preordered copy of Kingdom Hearts 3D.

That's funny, that was actually my New Year's resolution, and I was going to beat one game a month. So far I have "beaten" one...and it was fortune street.

Been powering through some of my sale games.

Fallout New Vegas is still a fun game. I'm doing a chaotic evil run and it feels brand new. It's probably the only big story game I'm playing right now. Fun~

I bought Hack Slash Loot when it went on sale yesterday and it's gotten me pretty nostalgic for the Net Hack days. It's difficult, but the mouse-only control scheme is very accessible. There also seems to be a lot of unlockability (often through deaths lol). Fun~

Fable 3 is the big disappointment. My favorite parts of Fable have all been dumbed down or removed and the game holds your hand way too much. I remember when Fable 2 was coming out and there was such a big emphasis on the removal of the mini-map for the pet system, but the game just gives you a glowing trail to your objective and the dog only adds fluff to the game. Gonna give it another go, but I'm not having fun. Boo~

Borderlands is still fun, but I'm at a point where I need to be grinding. Fun~

Dinner Date is interesting, but I couldn't hear the voiceover, so I'll play it again with the subtitles because I don't know what the hell happened.

Really Big Sky is fun, but I wonder how much replayability it has. It's pretty though.

Ys Origin is alright, but the controls are strange. I wonder if it has controller support, because it would be great as a two-joystick shooter.

Waves is very much the PC version of Geometry Wars, but it feels a little sluggish and very tough.

Wow, I feel very put off by Superbrothers: Sword & Sorcery EP. It's very...funky. The setting is great, but the hip writing doesn't appeal to me. I'd call it hipster if I didn't think that was really pretentious.

Roller Coaster Rampage is bad and it should feel bad. The idea is intriguing, but the execution is awful.

In preparation for CS:GO, I played BulletRun for a bit, but I could not have any fun. I hate it and its shitty announcers and framing device and crappy 5 maps.

Also, I pre-bought CS:GO, so I got the beta and it's great. I love it in a way one loves a very close relative you've not seen in a long time. I've only been playing Classic Casual, but it's great for me.

I wish I was better at fighting games so I could get full enjoyment out of it, but I am still enjoying it so far. The storyline drags on so much, though, because of all the recap portions for the people that haven't played P4. Then we have to watch all the characters learn the same things with each separate storyline... And yet, it still retains the Persona 4 charm so ultimately I'm OK with it.

And at least the game has the "mash A and do a combo" mechanic.

The main P4 character's stories have a lot of overlap, but there are quite a few of the stories that are their own unique thing, which is nice. It sucks that Yukiko and Chie's are pretty much the throwaway stories, but at least they get joke endings as well as the regular ones. Most of the story happens in Yu, Yosuke, Naoto, Aigis, Labrys and Elizabeth's stories, although Kanji's is awesome.

They introduce far too much story for the follow up to be another fighting game, but I wonder if this is going to lead into Persona 5, or some kind of "Persona All-Stars" game, since by the end it's pretty much tying the entire franchise together.

I have P4A and want DS2. Wanna trade?

Others I'm playing:

Darksiders - I almost got the new one without playing the first, but I'm broke and wanted to catch up on the story, so I got it on the PS store and found it to be a good decision. It's like Zelda with more violence and comic booky art.

Growlanser IV - It's as great as Petit claims. I'm actually considering getting a cheap used PS2 to play the earlier entries, 'cause I hear they are very similar in play-style. They are called SRPGs, but the way they work is much closer to a traditional JRPG, but awesomer. And this one is Vita-compatible too.

Valkyria Chronicles is my favourite PS3 game.

Katamari Forever is still happiness in a box.

I was surprised when I was able to watch videos on a porn site on the PS3. haha

Since 1.3(.1), I'm totally hooked on Minecraft again.

Wanted to play Left for Dead 2 with nesh yesterday, but the game crashed three times in a row...

Yep, I started playing Left 4 Dead 2. Darn good fun, but I'm overwhelmed at the different campaign types available.

I got Sleeping Dogs and Resonance of Fate today and both are pretty good. Sleeping Dogs is a standard undercover cop story in a functional open-world setting. It's been all brawling in the three hours I've played so far, which is refreshing. And the voice work is actually good. Lucy Liu and Emma Stone voice characters! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/wub.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Resonance of Fate is complex and frustrating and very very unapproachable, but there is a compelling universe and very modern tactics-style battle system here. The story isn't too heavy-handed; in fact, it's a little too implied, but the characters and their dynamics seem real-ish, There's a major difficulty curve, but I'm not put off yet.

Lastly, Arms Race on CS:GO is clever. There's a lot of satisfaction to be had if you get on a round early.

This is one of those games I've been vaguely interested in playing for years but can never bring myself to buy it. I'm really wary of the "unapproachable" aspect, since I've heard that the game does a very poor job of introducing the battle system, which is a big deal given the difficulty curve. I played through a good chunk of Resonance of Fate. I don't remember the battle system frustrating me. I loved that you can customize the characters looks. I think I ground to hell and back for cash for the clothes. And weapons. The customizing is insane for those who love to tinker with shit in games. I think I stopped because school started and when I tried to pick it back up I forgot how to play AND THEN my ass was kicked.

It's a unique game that should've sold more than it did imo. It's not hard at all once you learn the battle system, which is the same learning curve as any other game.

Edit: iirc, one of the first things I did was switch the weapons from their default characters and it made things easier. And remember items are your friends, as is copious John Woo swag usage.

Damn you nesh, I'm going to start the game over this week!

The whole unapproachable thing is that it's a very real possibility that you completely skip past the battle tutorial location and/or get into a battle before you can get to the tutorial (this is what happened to me first go-through). Once you go through the interactive tutorial in the arena, you get it. Still, it doesn't hold your hand (to a degree that I enjoy), so if you're one of those pricks that doesn't talk to NPCs, you'll be extra lost. The level of customization on weapons and outfits is awesome.

I spent most of the day playing through Sleeping Dogs again and I'm there. Immersion Town, Population: me. The plot is escalating and I think it'll just get bigger exponentially (a plot device I adore).

I suck at the battle system but I make up for it with my driving skillz. Actually I was lost and decided to go for a drive around the town. And yes, it is annoying that it kicks in every time you drive. I think I want to buy it, but I need to figure out what games I'm going to trade in for it.

Darksiders 1 was one of the biggest surprises I've ever played. It was well done in every single aspect (except for that damn spider boss) and just an all-around well designed game with some great scenery.

So I had pretty high hopes for the second game. Well, what should I say... it completely surpasses them.

Playing it feels like swimming in a fountain of grandness and fun.

It's really rare that you are so aware of how much you actually enjoy a game.

This might become one of my most favourite games of all time.

I am also playing Darksiders II and liking it a lot. I thought it was too easy at first, but I've been working my way through Drenchfort for days, so length is definitely not a problem.

I just got Jojo's Bizzarre Adventure HD ver. and I wish I understood it better and/or knew people who played it. Time for internet guides, perhaps.

The campaign for Fall of Cybertron was too short, but I'm enjoying the multiplayer far more than I have any other shooter. There's something awesome about racing in as a car, jumping off a ramp, transforming in midair to chuck an EMP grenade to blind an enemy, shooting him in the head as you land, then turning back into a car and getting the hell out of there before his other three teammates can get to you.
