She sounds fine to me.

She shouts quite a lot and that already put me off, she has no charm in her voice either....

She wasn't even the best from the eggs, never mind a nationwide audition....

You're just disappointed it's not Karin. I don't think you would have been happy with anyone but her.

More photos.

And Sayu already got a picture:

I think she's actually not bad looking.

At the beginning of this video, she actually looks quite cute.

Also, I think her singing is more than fine. She has the potential to be a great vocalist.

She looks a lot like Mai Hagiwara, only more demure.

There's something classically Japanese about her face and haircut. I hope they put her in a kimono soon.

I love her so much. I felt like this would be a one person generation. 3rd,7th ,and now 11th. I think she is very pretty and I love her mature look. That short hair cut was a food decision. I really hope she becomes a lead before anyone in 10th. She is exactly what this era of morning musume needs.

A larger version of her profile photo (that shirt is cute I want one):

The Up Front Facebook says that there were about 7000 girls that auditioned for 11th gen. Less than 9th gen but I think more than 10th gen. And the average age is now 15.7.

Wow, that was anti-climatic compared to the others. Good for Sakura. Is there going to be more, or is that it?

I like that she's chosen I was rooting for her. but I had hoped to get some of that trainingcamp suspense.

Her auditions seem better than those of the 9th and 10th gen (by far) I think.

Seven pages and I had no idea they were even auditioning <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nfused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

From the selection video/digest, I really like her. Maybe it's because there are so many 9kis and 10kis, but I think she's really got potential and talent (though, I liked the other girl who looks like her but taller from the dance segment).

How did you miss this? Image

I know I'm going to get thrown into a firey pit and burned alive for saying it, but with the short haircut, she reminds me of Maeda Atsuko and Takahashi as well as a bit of Dawa thrown in with Miki Fujimotos eyes, the more I look at her. She's very very plain though. But I always expect that from the new generation girls. I'm sure she'll eventually grow into her looks. She is 13 after all and going through puberty so the poor thing has awkwardness all over the place. But those lips man, those lips need help. Someone send the girl some lip gloss!

There have been very few girls that have ever come into Morning Musume with a flawless start. They tend to all look a bit greasy and unkept.

[/quote].

They're an idol group. They aren't meant to be amazing singers. They just need to be able to carry a tune which 4 of 11 members currently can barely do. All they wanted was someone better than about half the group so when Reina leaves in the next year or so, they won't be dead in the water. Not saying that won't happen, but that seemed why he needed a stronger singer than was gotten in the past as he wanted with this audition.

I have nothing against Karin. I like her, but I do not think she'd be suitable vocally for Morning Musume especially with the song style they have been repeatedly doing as of lately. Her voice is too high for their current song style to be the only winner.

Um, Sakura isn't fine. She's great. Sure, she has some trouble controlling her voice, but it's not a serious problem. And it's not fair to compare her to Karin who has been an egg for like four years.

You really think so? She sounds more like a shouter than a singer to me at the moment, singing while standing still in a room is different from dancing and singing, if you check out the video I linked, she sounds VERY different when she had to sing and dance at the same time.

I agree she has potential and I truly hope she fulfills it, but to be honest she's no better than Riho or Ayumi at the moment.

She is definitely better than Riho and infinitely better than Ayumi. I'm kind of shocked that you said that. And I've listened to some of her egg stuff, and she's pretty consistent while dancing. I'm not in love with her because I don't think she's that cute, but she has a really good voice.

I guess we'll have to wait and see, her first live performances will be very interesting.

I'm listening to the audition videos and all I can hear is a shouter who can hold a tune, surely there was someone better.... Image

Karin would have been a HUGE boost for MM but I guess it's not to be sooo.... oh well Image

If she didn't even audition, shouldn't you be upset with her that she isn't in MM? I'm still of the opinion that Karin would be a great Mano replacement or addition to a completely new group, if not S/mileage.

I think I've been pretty spoiled these last few auditions. I wanted Zukki to get in, and she did. I wanted Ayumi to get in, and she did. And now Sakura. Whenever the next one comes around I'll probably really dislike the girl.

Does anyone else see a Haruka-esque husky quality to Sakura's voice? Just think how nervous she must've been during those auditions, too. I'm really looking forward to seeing how she looks and sounds at the H!P Winter concerts.

Well, that's just a rumor and if it's true then I'd love to know WHY she didn't, because she didn't want to or she wasn't allowed, or there are complications with the work she does for Copinks or w/e

The next thing on the list would be for her to be a member of a new group, Berryz can't go on forever and Captain is almost at "that age"

Solo...... not sure about that... she has the voice but her on camera personality has been lacking.

Damn, this got announced quick! Or is it just me? Either way I was rooting for her and the other older girl, so I'm really happy with this. She has a really nice voice and definitely has a cute look, so I think she'll do really well. I'm so glad Tsunku proved me wrong and chose a girl from the audition that had actual talent instead of putting in some random cute girl with no abilities and trying (and failing) to turn her into a superstar.

It's obvious they have something planned for Karin. With Mano leaving, there's a slot open on the H!P roster. Either a new group or a soloist position. I could imagine Karin playing a role in either one.

I think Tsunku likes keeping the fans guessing. Just a coincidence that Karin was directly behind Sakura when she was unveiled? I don't think so. I personally expect an annoucement by the end of the year...either that, or Karin needs to find a new agency.

I also agree with Banana that Sakura is a far better singer than Riho and Ayumi. Ayumi can't even sing in key at the moment. Riho is improving by leaps and bounds, but her voice still lacks depth.

Even thought I think Haruka should have passed too, I've come down off my all-day rage fit. I'm not really a fan of Sakura's short hair, it just makes her face seem weird. I wasn't really a huge fan of her in the first place, except for the fact that she was one of the decent ones. But my opinion of her will probably change like it did for the 9 & 10 generations. (<- I used to hate them with a passion, but know I love each and every one of them.)

Okay, I'm sorry, but can you please stop with your awkward, obsessive fanboying of Karin? You're literally only hating on this girl because she isn't Karin and it's kind of awkward to watch, ngl.

MOVING ON, let's not over state Sakura's singing abilities. I've wanted her in MM ever since I heard her sing Ooki Hitomi ages ago, I love her voice, it reminds me of Eri's. But she has a long way to go to be considered one of the best MM has ever had - Yuko, Miki, Ishiguro Aya anyone?
