I really like it! I think the sparkle stuff works, but not so much for the dance shot, there was too much going on the in that one.

But I fell like it's missing something. Maybe the final version will have it...

I like it! I think the PV was half over before I even saw Haruka the first time, though. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nfused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> My only complaint is that there were not enough solo shots of all the awesome people. Reina's hair is pretty sweet. I kind of hate her for using the pigtails in the new dance shot they did.
The PV is good but I still dislike the song, it also wouldn't surprise me if Masaki and Erina became like a 'Risa/Eri' as in, has the second next amount of lines after the front girls, and Mizuki and Ayumi were bumped up in some singles to be front girls.

The autotune is HORRIBLE but especially the low ones. Little Kudo with the voice of a gorilla whyyy
Was that actually them? I feel like that was Tsunku-tune and they're just mouthing to it.

Even though Reina isn't my favorite I have to say she looked so dam awesome in this PV. It was when she was standing in between the lights that I think she looked so amazing. Plus love the short hair. Other then that the PV was ok.

Can anyone tell who was dancing in the fire? I felt like it was only 2 people.
I'm pretty sure it was just Mizuki and Riho.

It's techno music, so it has to have a lot of video effects and trails and flourescent bulbs and video projections and rolling around on a lit floor for it to be wildly, sensationally successful.

Duh.

[edit] My position is that I hate the video. It doesn't make any sense (does it have anything to do with the lyrics?) and it's just nothing but constant visual bombardment. The song is passable, but the video is just lame. It's all the crazy, unnecessary fluff from 123 without the variety of shots or content.

I actually find the song enjoyable and the video cool. Its different than a lot of videos recently. The auto-tune doesn't bother me at all. It is real catchy as well. What is ve everone's problem? My negative comment...Why in the world is Sayu not in front with Reina???? I think it should be Sayu/Reina show, not Reina/Riho.

Holy shnaps, that was a killer pv, but too little of the dance shot in this version! And when they do show the dance, they're showing the most awkward parts. :/

UFA doing it right again. They upped the PV quality standard by a few notches with One Two Three, and they managed to live up to it with Wakuteka.

I won't write another apologetic post (or two) like I did for One Two Three because this time it's not a revolution but merely keeping the standard, but all I wrote back then applies still. It has a solid production value, has depth to each shot created with lighting and effects, has consistent colour grading, and does not look like flat raw footage. Editing could be improved, but it's passable too. Only the fire scenes need to be dropped because they stick out like a sore thumb.

The only other complaint is that it does feel kinda emotionless, like Berry said. I wish they showed a bit more spark. They don't seem like they don't enjoy what they're doing, but the general feeling is just of dullness. Maybe this was intentional to go with the somewhat bleak mood of the song, but if so, then the concept failed.

Anyway, whoever they hired is doing a good job. But I hope they're also learning, because if we get the same deal for a third time I'll be disappointed. I'll be expecting more next time - not only good form, but good content as well. How about some, you know, plot?

Pretty much everything I want to say has been said already. HATE HATE HATE the outfits. Love that all the girls got lines, which I couldn't tell from the dance rehearsal video. I actually feel like Zukki got a lot of face time which pleasantly surprised me.

And for the first time in, what, ten years?, I think Reina looks really pretty. Except for the cat ears. I don't know if those or the bows are worse.

I actually really love this. Other then there being so much Masaki and Ayumi. Those two need to be shoved in a dark corner somewhere and they need to push Kanon and Haruka instead. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... umbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I don't get why people are demanding plot from MM videos like it's something they used to do? Momusu's videos have always been very, very, very light on story line or plot. Generally, they just take a concept and run with it for four minutes or so.

This video is less shitty than One Two Three, so job well done! Erina's hair is still completely fucked and I have no idea why anyone thought that looked good. My only complaint is that the scenes with them behind the light bars look really cheap.

It's not the most creative video ever, but I don't feel like it's a clusterfuck of half realized concepts like Renai Hunter and One Two Three. I wonder if the next version will actually be different, or if they're just trolling and are gonna throw us a dance shot or something.

"Temporary" better mean they're taking out all that fucking auto-tune. It's like being ear-raped by a synthesizer in a blender...
Fully agreed. They all sound the same.

1, 2, 3 had a nice rythm to it, but this is boring and utter shit.

While the video is not as ADHD-filled as the other video who's name I already forgot, it's also over-saturated with effects.

I'm never going to listen to this song again, I didn't even finish the video the first time.

I really, really like this! It's not the black light rave I wanted, but I think it's pretty cool. I think they did an awful job styling Eripon's hair, but girl rocked that light table! She rocked everything.

Masaki looked way too cutesy hyper for this, but she's so adorable I can forgive her. She needs to voice an anime or something. For some reason I think she'd do well as a super-duper cutesy hyper character. You know, 'cause that's what she is. She could basically voice herself like Sayu did for that dragon thing.

I don't like Zukki's outfit, but I think she herself looked great! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/wub.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Ayumi looks like she is going to kill you. I think she'd be a good killer if they do another horror-type movie/play.

Reina and Riho are my two least favorites, but they look amazing here and I actually like them a wee bit more, I think.

Haruna. HARUNA! OMG! She looks so amazing. I was the least excited about her in all of 10th gen, and she is almost my favorite 10h gen member now.

I like this a lot more than One.Two.Three. The details I don't like are canceled out by everything I do like. I'm still glad it's not PPU. I want a new dance shot. I hope that's why it's temporary. I also want more dance shot. Either way, I'm a happy MM fan right now. I don't think they thought the costume colors through since the color distribution in the final shot is just weird. Oh, well!

Because after 15 years and 50 singles, it's about damn time they started to.
Momusu's videos have always been very, very, very light on story line or plot.
Which is why in the bigger picture they have always sucked. They may be produced better or worse and with higher or lower budget, but in the end they're just repetitive dance shot - close up - dance shot fests. Which sucks, especially for the 50th+ time.
Generally, they just take a concept and run with it for four minutes or so.
Yes, and that sucks, big time. They could become so much more if they only did so little more. I'm not expecting my idols to be the highest form of art with snobby critics wetting their pants over its deeper meanings, but they CAN be artistically relevant. I hate to sound like a broken record, but look at the AKB videos directed by some established names from the period 2-3 years ago. Or the more recent Mad Max-esque short films by T-ara.

I'd honestly cry tears of happiness if for once I got this for an MM video, instead of another repetitive formulaic eye candy. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/nono.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':nono:' />

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree then, because I think videos like The Peace, Koi no Dance Site and Happy Summer Wedding are AMAZING and iconic. Story line would be cool, but I don't think a video has to have one to be awesomely entertaining.

I kind of hate PVs with plot because, in my experience, they tend to go over the top. I really don't need a miniature movie with my music, and I'll just be happy with MM having higher production to begin with. Wakuteka has great production value IMO, so if we can just stay in that margin of awesome, we'll be good.

Looking at the release dates of those singles proves my point that it's time for a change. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I was of course generalizing for the sake of argument and I agree that some old PVs were good, or even iconic as you say, at the time. Hell, Love Machine even had this 10-minute movie/backstory version that everyone else seems to be doing now. Those were exceptions though, and the times have changed, the lineup has changed, yet we're still being fed the same old formula, only with a steadily dropping quality. Sad and disappointing.

But I'm still very happy with the Wakuteka PV and excited about the suddenly improved quality and, you know, the CHANGE. It's just, as they say, the more you get to eat, the bigger your appetite becomes. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I never really noticed that it was actually the girls singing at the end when Iikubo, Haruna, and Zukki sing the "Shake it up" and "Take it love" lines.

When I first listened to it, I assumed it was Tsunku putting his voice in the songs again (<- It reminds me a lot of his vocals in C-ute's Lalala Shiawase no Uta)

It sounds like a monster about to rip your face off. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... pyeyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I really like the song and the PV.. I didn't even pay attention to the "emotion" the girls are apparently supposed to be displaying. The PV looked shiny and nice and the girls look great. I felt bad that Haruka got basically no screen time (hell, even Kanon got more). I agree that the singing has too much autotune, but I like the song itself. I can't wait to hear Sakura's vocals future songs :D

I love love love LOVE this, with every listen I just get more fascinated with the various different changes, it's so non-standard!!

I don't think the video is going to win awards for best video or any such thing, but I do think it's awesome and I can't wait to see the new version.

I can't get over just HOW GOD DAMN CUTE Masaki is in this video! How do they know these things from the audition?? At the audition she was no cuter than anyone else (except the mogi) and she couldn't sing or dance to save her life. but now look at her.... kicking ass Image

I like Eripon's hair too, it suits her character, yeh... BAT SHIT CRAZY ASS MOFO Image

I Wish and Mr. Moonlight were closest to having plots, or at least having an implied concept beyond "these are girls singing in a studio who want ALL OF YOUR MONEY RIGHT NOW"

Roman ~My Dear Boy~ was very light, but there were details that allow you to make conclusions, for example, the scenes where they sing in front of the fake U.N. and then Risa with her No Blood For Oil shirt.

Kono Chikyuu, sort of, it had enough to make it link up with Kare to Issho ni.

I'm happy with individual sub stories, like Resonant Blue or Shouganai, just get them out of a studio once in a while, but don't make Reina walk alone in dark corridors with an expensive purse.

I can appreciate Shouganai Drama version because I can't see anything other than school girls who hate each other but pretend to be nice in public. Reina just looks so pissed off and completely over it. (more than usual) <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hawhaw.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hawhaw:' />

What I miss about the videos of yore (or even up to a couple of years ago) was that they were somewhere. It seems a lot of their new PVs have been either on one extremely basic set or entirely in front of a green screen. And while I also appreciate that this video has a lot more varied and independent shots of everyone, I miss those shots of like three of them together messing around and singing and looking like they're having fun as opposed to staring at you. also whoever has been directing the past few videos has an obvious affinity for covering up the boring with a top coat of ~*~*~sparkolez and lites~~*~~ and now apparently really really bad flames. It reminds me of a fifteen-year-old's first attempt at messing around in Photoshop. i dunno maybe I'm wrong and MM has always been this boring but i'm not liking it

edit: also maybe I'm a little surprised by the direction of the video. From the sound of the song I thought they would have more playful outfits like in 321 Breakin Out but instead it's the same serious shiny costumes from the past couple of PVs. it'd be nice to see people like Masaki and Kanon be able to be more their age and act silly than so serious and sexy and depressing

This PV is SO CREEPY. There is so much wrong with girls laying passively and emotionlessly on a table, waiting to be taken by a gross perv; let alone underage girls, let alone 12-year-olds. I can't decide if I am more disturbed by the objectification of Haruka, who looks like jailbait, or Masaki, who looks like a normal kid. So wrong I can't even.

Yeah, we just ordered two versions from CD Japan. We'll probably be willing to trade one CDJ poster for the Shinseido one (or for Yamano as a second choice).

How do retailers get their poster versions? Do they have to bid for them, with the highest bidder getting the least crappy or what?

The only other complaint is that it does feel kinda emotionless, like Berry said. I wish they showed a bit more spark. They don't seem like they don't enjoy what they're doing, but the general feeling is just of dullness. Maybe this was intentional to go with the somewhat bleak mood of the song, but if so, then the concept failed.

Oh look, it's this discussion again. And I still say that perversion is in the eye of the beholder. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... smooch.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='=3=' />

Yes, after reading what you said I can kinda see where you are coming from. I can imagine how in those scenes their butts are pointing up just outside of the frame, waiting to be mounted by drooling wotas all lined up waiting for their turn... But it took some mental exercise to come up with that, and I really could have lived without this exercise. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /pouty.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':pouty:' />

Everything can be fetishized, and if you try you can see perverted innuendo in everything. Why bother though? I could see nothing explicit or suggestive in this PV that wouldn't be a part of the visual/artistic concept behind it. I like to take MM at the face value, being mostly cheerful innocent girl pop music with flashy PVs. And this is coming from someone not exactly known for being a prude and who's seen a lot of sick crap on the internets back in the day.

Really, sometimes I feel "sexual innuendo in idol music" is the "subliminal satanic messages in metal music" of the present day. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Not really, though. The entire concept of idols - the perfect girl, the whole focus on STAYING PURE AND NEVER HAVING BOYFRIENDS EVER BECAUSE YOUR WOTA ARE YOUR BOYFRIENDS... is rather inherently sexually charged.

By its nature metal music is often (depending on the sub-genre) focused on occult stuff, but ascribing some otherworldly satanic properties to it is just spewing moral panic. And so is ascribing the terrible exploitative or pedo-baiting properties to H!P videos. IMHO. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... smooch.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='=3=' />

Ok cool so apparently watching children writhe on a table is cheerful and innocent.

Just because the bar is set low by "a lot of sick crap" doesn't make it ok.

I wonder where this fantasy land is where there is an alternative to problematic and fucking offensive media that we can just easily watch if we don’t like this generally awful stuff.

I would like to live in this utopia.
