Arashi, SMAP, Kanjani8. They do multiple b-sides, but usually only two editions, three at most. For whatever reason female idol groups seem to have to work a lot harder for the sale.



But I agree, sales are sales and I don't really care if they use this kind of marketing. More power to them for getting themselves out there. All of these handshake events and such have lead to MM doing a lot more magazine and television appearances (however brief), and that's a start at getting more people to take notice of you. If they can consistently get a few high ranked singles in a row, regardless of how they do it, they'll start to grab the attention of new people.

Maybe they are still hung up on Kago Ai's scandal, and the whole not associating anything with her. If that's the case, then Kanon isn't going to get a push from looking more like Kago Ai because they'd think that the fans would draw comparissons and that would be associating with Kago. Or at least that's just what I think.

I can see dance moves from "1•2•3" and "WkTk" in this one, but not really any from "Help Me". Maybe that's because I didn't really pay attention to the "Help me" coreography.

Hay gurrl. A) I like you. B) I never mentioned AEUG in my complaint. I didn't mention any specific people, and here's why: there's a different grouping of members having this discussion each time. Lately it's been AEUG most, let's just call a spade a spade, but when he was away from the BBS for a few months we still managed to have the same freaking argument in every release thread.



Also, the point isn't not liking the song, the point is being a douche about not liking the song. For the record? I don't really like the song.

I like this song but it's too similar to the previous ones, in composition and even a tad in choreography, I'd love a change up for the next one. Which I'm sure has already been said but what do you do. Also there's too much autotune wow. An annoying level.



Kanon needs a push come on. So sick of her being put at the back. It could be because she's self conscious though. Perhaps she doesn't have the guts to be at the front just yet? When I saw her last year she looked terribly sad while performing.

I agree that it is similar to the past few singles, but it isnt too terribly similar in the way that it can stand by itself as an independant song. Also, there's a reason for it being similar.

1. Awesome song and Dance (I think I am obsessed. Time to get my ipod synched on the new laptop. I haven't even got Help Me on it yet, and I really liked that song)

2.Glad Riho isn't trying to make my ears bleed

3. I can hear a little bit of rock, I also see/hear the hints of past songs like others mentioned

4. Time for the bash...I really need to learn to put names with faces. It may be that no one is memoriable to me yet, but I only recognize a little under half the members. I have been listening to MM since around 07. I knew all those, why can't I learn the new MM.I can find Reina, Sayu, Riho, and Suzuki. Sometimes the rest of the 9th gen. Can't pick out the 10th gen or Sakura. I know the names though. I just need to learn who is who. So let the bashing begin for not knowing. Shame on me!!!

It was after her and Risa had both graduated, was at the summer tour. Aika was still actually there though.

I'm pretty sure they use the same dance floor for a lot of videos. They just might tweak it slightly each time. I mean, it would be silly to get a new dancefloor each time. (Plus if you look closely you can see scratches all over it.)

@AEUG: You're right, I'm not as familiar with the rival idol groups now as I was end of Golden Era. AKB and her sisters are all the same group with different members but somehow end up sounding almost the same. Nogizaka46 is pretty cool. I liked Momoiro Clover when they were indies, but I'm not as big of a fan of their newer stuff. Idoling!!! used to be pretty cool but I fell out of love with them. Back when AKBIdoling!!! happened, I figured they were a flavor-of-the-month type of group, but I downloaded a bunch of stuff anyway, but none of it really stuck with me for very long. Passpo seemed interesting enough, but they don't have much out (as far as I know). I really, really, really like BABYMETAL aaaaand I think I just got carried away. (oops)



What I was trying to say is that compared to other Japanese idol groups (I don't include Kpop acts like SNSD in this even a little bit; they are another monster entirely), Tsunku seems to be going for a distinct sound for Momusu. They don't sound Kpop to me. They don't sound like other idols to me. They don't sound like anything that producer from Capsule (the person behind Perfume now) has produced. There are flavors of each of those in what Tsunku is making now, but putting chili on something doesn't make the new thing chili.



Just a thought: maybe Tsunku just wants the group to be taken seriously again. Hence the few TV appearances. After all the scandal and rampant ship-jumping that happened a few years ago with Momusu and H!P, I'd do everything in my power to shape these girls to be perfect and make the group great again. I wouldn't want them to go on TV unless they were ready and were spot-on. I know the TV appearances I've seen recently have been pretty boring (Satoyama, though. I don't think it's a program for young people really.), but maybe all of this small-time no-show-of-their-own stuff is just leading to something good. I know I shouldn't get caught up in speculation, but I feel like he's trying to appeal to the mainstream again and bust out of this idol-wota niche. Yes, the wotas will continue to exist and support them, but the real secret to success is appealing to the mainstream. After all, Morning Musume was originally supposed to be Japan's sweethearts. I can see him trying to revive that, especially now that he doesn't have elder members hanging around, scandals happening constantly and Kago's out of the news again. This is his chance to make their comeback and show everyone that he can make these little girls into Morning Musume again. He's got a lot more raw talent now than he's had in recent years (not going to name names because it's my opinion and I don't want to make their fans angry), and I think he'll make it happen.



Anyway, if you look at the older generations, he has changed the sound of the group a lot over the years and I haven't noticed a specific pattern, but it seems that anytime he wants to enter into a "new age of Momusu" he changes the sound. He did when Maki joined, again somewhere around right before 6th gen joined, again a little after Koharu, and again around Naichau Kamo. This is not a first, but luckily (for me), I am overall satisfied with the decision.



Anyway: I've listened to this a few more times and I really, really, really like it! I'd say it's rivaling 1.2.3. as my favorite newest-gens song. The dance is pretty cool, even if it is recycled from older ones, but the song itself is just killer. I like it a lot better than Wakuteka and Renai Hunter. I think my ordering for recent songs looks something like this:

Brainstorming = 1.2.3. > Help me!! > Wakuteka Take a Chance > Renai Hunter



...let's just put it this way: this song makes me want to start doing Momusu vocal covers again. (sorry for really long post)
