That's unfortunately what happens most of the time with women cheating.
For society it's always worse when the guy does it. Much more often have I heard "she's just reorganizing her life", but with guys it's always just "he had an affair".
I'm sure many women would say the exact opposite is the case, though.
It's probably a male/female selective perception thing.

I'm female and I get your point and I agree with you completely. I think most of the disagreement would be in the phrasing. It's not that it's worse when the guy does it. Some women would counter that with "society believes that infidelity is natural for men" and cheating women are unfairly labeled as sluts.
I think that some people cut women a lot more slack to counterweight perceived double standards. "Men cheat so women can do too." I don't agree with this but this is what I observe people around me do.
Like, guys aren't expected to have a reason to cheat other than "he's a guy." But women get treasure troves of excuses like "he is forcing her to make babies for him", "she is lonely" and stuff like that.
