I don't know if anyone's posted this or not, but here's a YouTube link of the special medley.
Seeing this just makes me think, despite getting Budoukan.... Berryz are just waiting to graduate, aside Saki and Miyabi the rest are in FULL give a fuck mode.
I can't really blame them. They've spent ten solid years polishing and honing their skills and reaching a level of stardom and...now what? Watching as the new girls get all the attention. Not that they couldn't see it coming with the way all the former MM members were marginalized after graduation: Nacchi, Yuko, Maki, Kaori, Yossi, Rika, Miki, etc. Not to mention Aya and the way her career kind of tapered off. You either advance and grow and get new and greater challenges and bigger perks or...you lose interest. The company keeps treating them like they're employees.

Something like that. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... unsure.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I feel like people are just purposely nitpicking to find reasons why Berryz don't "deserve" to go to Budokan and why C-ute is so much better.

Seriously, she looks SO uninterested in being there... it's kind of sad and disheartening. Are you going to Budokan like this, Risako? :/
Why not? Not giving a shit apparently worked for Reina for years!

No one is really going all out in that medley. I don't know if they were all afraid to bump into each other with so many of them on the stage, but a lot of the dancing seemed way more muted than normal.

Sakura looks so thrilled to be there though, she's adorable.
Y'all need to remember this is during the great flu epidemic that knocked out a bunch of members during this concert. If they don't look happy to be there, chances are they don't feel well.

Or they all have their period. Damn H!P girls are probably all synchronized.

I haven't seen anyone mention C-ute in the last few replies.

In terms of performances in that medley, C-ute were on it, S/mileage too, Mano did a lot better than she usually does, MM and Berryz were both pretty much in automatic mode.

The main problem is that for these concerts the girls have a very short time to rehearse and remember everything, so it always has to be very simple and easy and I think those feelings leak into the idea that the girls themselves can perform at 50% and nobody will care.

Isn't that the way it is in the original, though? I could have sworn in that one connected before "woahs" it doesn't go up, it goes down.

Edit: Yup. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYb4LmR9R1w 3:25 (it's Captain's line). The backing vocals do the harmony but the melody doesn't go up.
Oh, I thought it was the part of the song where it goes up. Hm.

I think it's because she only had to sing for a minute or so, she has always struggled with her breathing and so in the past she would start well, but then half way she would be totally out of breath and her singing would go crappy

Sure, put her in Momusu instead of solo and while you're at it, kikka too!

Okay, so I watched Blu-ray Disc 2 of this concert, subtitled, “Bravo.” It’s got some good stuff in it, including lots of colorful costumes. I was happy to see Miki Fujimoto perform, although I wish she’d done a different song than the oft-heard "Romantic Ukare Mode." It was not a surprise since I’d checked the tracklist first. I liked the medley in this one: 13 songs and the flow from song to song was very nicely handled. Also, during the final number, many of the girls go out into the aisles of the venue to perform there in front of the crowd. And what do we see in the audience? Lots of women. A pleasant surprise.

There were a couple of strangers onstage, including Asahi Tasaki, back on the keyboard, who was in Disc 1, and yet another girl on keyboard in the Green Fields number (with Saki S. and Aika). The credits i.d. her as Yuka Miyazaki and she’s apparently a member of Juice=Juice. (How does Erina Mano feel about all these other girls doing keyboard duty, when it was something that she started?)

The end credits also list Mari Yaguchi and Up Up Girls Kakko Kari as guest stars and I hadn’t seen them at all. Turns out they’re in the extras. Mari comes out as a “surprise” guest in the middle of MM’s “Koi no Dance Site” (not a surprise for those of us who watch the main concert first and then read the end credits).  The Up Up Girls have their own number, which is very nice except for one thing: the camera never cuts to any closeups of them. I was familiar with four of them from their Egg days, and I wanted to see what they look like now, but I couldn’t make out any of them in long shot. That was very annoying. Are the Up Up Girls part of H!P? Will they be in anyone else’s concerts? Their number was quite enjoyable. Just as the Eggs’ number in the main concert was enjoyable. Fun, upbeat stuff with lots of dancing.

I can’t wait for Juice=Juice to show up in concert. I want to get a sense of their live performance capabilities. I’ve only seen them in a couple of their PVs on one of the YouTube channels and I wasn’t terribly impressed.

I was so thrilled to see Miki♥ too, even though I already knew she was in it.  I wish I hadn't known though--it would have been such a great surprise!  I only skipped to that song last night but I want to see Mari in "koi no Dance Site", so I'm going to re-watch it to see that.

UP UP GIRLS have a YouTube channel where they have a ton of live performances and dance covers. You should check them out Madara. The group is pretty solid now.

Okay, I re-watched both concerts on the Blu-ray and I'm putting together a blog entry about it.

But I read something in the Hello! Project Wiki tracklist that puzzled me.
In the "Trivia" section for the "Viva" tracklist, it says, "The 'Viva' setlist will represent the current Mobekimasu."
I'm not sure what that means. There are some older songs in the concert, including "Massara Blue Jeans," "Baby, Koi ni Knockout," and "Anata Nashi de wa Ikite Yukenai."

Also, it says that "Miyabi hurt her ankle prior to the concert, which made her unable to perform dance numbers until further notice."
I'm sorry, but Miyabi's there in several dance numbers in both concerts and she does all the moves that everyone else does.

The stuff about Miyabi was probably added before the concert ever even came out. The HP wiki will add any and all info, no matter how irrelevant it is.

Also, I was annoyed to read the list of "Performances Not Featured" that weren't put on the Blu-ray, including these guest stars:
Makoto Ogawa, Ai-chan, Risa, Rika, Kaori, Nacchi, Kei, Mai Satoda and Koharu!

I don't understand why they couldn't have been added as extras the way Mari and the Up Up Girls were.

I read it, had to clear stuff with ya.....Asahi Tasaki isn't in Juice=Juice, she's just a solo artist under UFP and is just a part of the SATOYAMA stuff.

Also, the MK song is Akai Freesia lol

Does it bug anyone else that most of those female fans are older. . . I'd like to think that they'll be a time when the crowed is filled with adolescent/teen girls and their mothers instead of a 6:1 creepy wota to female fan ratio.

Well, when these acts come to the U.S., the adolescent girls and their mothers come out. This shot is from the Berryz audience in NJ last year:

Never happen. It's also the reason why there are so many middle aged male fans, because concerts are pretty damn expensive.

One thing I thought of since reviewing the Blu-ray is the complete absence of backstage/"Making of" footage from the DVD/Blu-ray releases of H!P concerts in the last few years. I remember when one winter concert (2008) included a whole separate disc of backstage footage.

Anyone have any insights into why there's no backstage footage included with the concerts anymore?

There's a good amount of backstage footage on the youtube pages as far as I remember.

Or maybe I'm thinking of other uploads, but there are still new backstage footages floating around.

The only thing I can think of is because of the abundance of that footage elsewhere. Still.... I feel a live concert DVD really needs those extra bits to make the whole concert feel complete.
