Very interesting to see that Airi in C-ute is the lead, ace and the face whereas in the other groups that role changes.

C-ute really doesn't have a single face. It's pretty much everyone but Mai, depending on the situation. It used to be Airi, but Maimi has started to pass her in regards to magazine shoots and acting gigs. Nacky is the the face when it comes to speaking, as she does all the MCs and a lot of the talking when they're on shows. Chisa has also started to represent the group in the news show she does and stuff like the fishing show she's always on.
 
I guess Mai is the face of complaining about the weather in her blog.

I don't think Karin is the ace or face of Juice Juice though. Juju can go on even if one of the 4 center girls "graduate" (Sayuki, Karin, Tomoko, Aina). It is different for Cute though. It is unfortunate, but if Airi graduates, Cute will be at the end of their rope.

All groups start with the default face of the group. Sometimes that changes, depending on how they develop as an idol. Karin was around the longest so of course she's going to have herself a bigger fan base. I think Tomoko will get herself a good helping of fans and become a key member of the group.

I don't think JJ has a defined face yet, they haven't established themselves enough outside of H!P.

Every time someone mentions J=J the first person that pops into my head is Karin. Sometimes Sayuki because I adore her, but mostly Karin.

Karin has the most presence outside of JJ, that's why. She's had tooons of Egg work before JJ happened. To be fair, I'm not sure about the other girls, though I'm sure they may have floated around doing things beforehand too.
 
Karin is probably the face for now just because she's the only one people would know outside of the group. When they gain some more activities and momentum, that might change.

It probably wasn't Tsunku's decision. Plus, now that they're not quite the same songs as before, there's more reason to buy the single. Still. THOSE OUTFITS. They're such fashion victims I can't get over it.

Also, I don't know if anyone ever mentioned this, but Karin said in her blog it's apparently a hiphop song. Or the dance was hiphop. I forget. Maybe it's SALT5: The Revenge or something. Take her comment with a grain of salt.

The outfits aren't bad...just boring. The outfits are very similar in color and style to their first indies single. I really like the heather gray skirt though. Totally would rock it.

There's just way too many different fabrics, ruffles, jewelry, and general mixing of different trends and it just makes them look like a big clusterfuck. Like, if someone asked me "How do I look fashionable and stylish?" I would show them this picture and say "Be the opposite of everything this chooses to be." Like, why the fuck is Yuka wearing a belt when her dress is already very tight? Some stylist needs to take that belt and strangle themselves with it. Why is Karin wearing a leather skirt, houndstooth crop top AND a pearl necklace? There are so many questions and none of them have good answers.

From a stylistic standpoint, they are THAT bad. Especially since it seems to be an obvious attempt at actually being fashionable rather than just costumes like a lot of the Morning Musume and Berryz stuff.
 
Edit: I don't have anything negative to say about them from the chin up though so there's that.

As an extension to my comment in the "Morning Musume's 54th Single" thread, I must say that THIS sounds like a totally weak single. Especially for a major debut.

I can't describe it well but this really reminds me of 80s/early 90s J-pop like the boy bands Hikaru Genji or Shonen-tai. It kind of sounds dated in a way? Not sure if it's the best choice for a debut single but I personally love that kind of thing so I'm looking forward to listening to a higher quality version of the song. I kind of like how it's stepping away from the more electro direction Morning Musume is heading.

The very beginning opening before they start to sing, it almost sounded like a throw back to Love Machine. 
 
I'm hoping, it will sound better in recording? Concert rips are never the best to go by.
