The Utaban episode from when they were promoting Souda! We're Alive. Entire episode is here. I think all of the Utaban episodes have been subbed, but I'm not sure if most are still on youtube. They're great watches if you can find them, though.

Re: The Official H!P Question Thread
I'm getting ready to upload to my YouTube channel a Hello! Morning segment set outside that police post where Mari's a policewoman and, in this segment, Yossi and Maki show up as rappers with big fake noses. But I have two questions:
1) What are those police station skits called? I remember that they have a title, but I don't recall it.
2) Who are Yossi and Maki supposed to be? I'm guessing they're Americans, right?
Yossi has a dreadlock wig and Maki has a blond wig. They're joined by Miki and Rika, who also rap, but don't have wigs. But they do have long noses.
Thanks.

OH that one, Until the Bus Comes.
It has been a looooooong time since I watched any of those so I have no idea about what characters anyone was supposed to be at this point, sorry.

Re: The Official H!P Question Thread
I thought Until the Bus Comes was the series that had Mari rocking out to Noh chanting? I vaguely remember something about a police skit with Ai (Takahashi) once, but I can't remember the name of it right now.
Maki didn't have a blonde wig in Until the Bus Comes because she was that "rich guy" character, Ayanokouji or something like that. So I have no idea what the second one is.

Re: The Official H!P Question Thread
It's the name of all the skits as a series, not just one.
I'm pretty sure the rappers were just caricatures.

I got the DVDs right here, and that particular part was called "Ekimae Koban Monogatari," tales from the police box in front of the station.

What's the name of that male comedian who used to show up on Hello! Morning dressed in drag? I think he was supposed to be dressed up as Aya Matsuura, right? What was the context for that? How did that start?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I'm guessing that's Maeda Ken. He was a comedian who was a regular on the mimicry show Monomane Battle (1994-2009). Imitating Matsuura Aya (~2004) was just one of his acts, likely due to her popularity at the time.
See also Maeken Trance Project, his one-time yet rather successful jpop group, and Matsuura Gorie (Teruya Toshiyuki) and Haruna Ai, who are also known for imitating Matsuura Aya.

Re: The Official H!P Question Thread
I was on Cruchyroll the other day and saw a thumbnail for an anime I had never heard of. The picture looked just like a chibi of Reina, and the title was 'Phantom Thief Reinya'. Turns out the character is voiced by her. However, I was a Reina fan for years and I can't remember ever hearing of it. Does anyone know when it's from/why it was made?
Re: The Official H!P Question Thread
It's Kaitou Reinya (怪盗レーニャ). It aired in 2010, from January to March. Japanese Wiki

Re: The Official H!P Question Thread
It's awesome. I have no idea why it was made. But I do remember Reina saying in a pocket morning that she would like to be a convenience store clerk, so I guess she fulfilled that wish vicariously through anime.

Yeah, Seiko Matsuda did two Christmas-themed songs--in English--on her 20th Anniversary Best Selection album, which I wrote about on my blog last year on March 25.
http://madara-blog.livejournal.com/76990.html
Here's the paragraph:

She does three songs in English and all are collaborations. “December Morn” and “Christmas Turned Blue” feature Richard Carpenter, from the one-time pop group The Carpenters, on piano/keyboard. Carpenter also composed the music for the songs, which were new songs produced just for this album, and each offers a different take on Christmas, one joyful, one sad and lonely.

And don't forget the Hello! Morning Christmas Special from Dec. 25, 2005:

When is Morning Musume going to release the 55th single? Its been a few months and something should've been announced by now I think.

Re: The Official H!P Question Thread
I predict late December to early-mid January.
Re: The Official H!P Question Thread
Quick question:
Who is Rika supposed to be in this Hello! Morning bus station skit?
I thought she was Jill from Jack & Jill (who went up the hill). But she calls herself "Michiru." And she had a brother, played by Nacchi, in an earlier, related skit and his name was something like Chiruchiru.
In this episode, from Feb. 5, 2006, she meets Hansel and Gretel, played by Maki and Aibon:
This was Aibon's last appearance in a skit on Hello! Morning and this episode was her last in the series. Her scandal broke a few days later.
P.S. And who or what is Miki's bird supposed to be?
Thanks.

Re: The Official H!P Question Thread
Rika plays Tyltyl and Nacchi plays Mytyl from Maeterlink's play The Blue Bird. I think Miki's character is pretty self explanatory at this point, although they make a point of specifying that she's a pigeon.

Wow, thanks for that! I checked out the link and I wasn't aware that this story has had such an impact on anime. There's even a Pokémon episode with references to it. (One correction: Rika plays the sister, Mytyl and Nacchi plays the brother, Tyltyl.)
