I watched his debut game.  Actually, I lasted about 20 minutes because I had forgotten how much I hate watching baseball
 
A guy I know is a big Yankees fan so I've been getting updates from him.

I know what you mean. I've got it on in the background on my desk at work and it's still a chore.  
 
In terms of Mai-spotting, there was a cut to the stands when they first introduced Tanaka, but it was too far away and too short a shot to be able to tell if Mai was in it or not.
 
P.S.: Halfway through the game, Tanaka still hasn't played, so there's been no further reason to cut to the stands on his behalf.
 
P.P.S.: Well, that was a big nothing. No Tanaka in the game. Does this mean I have to find out if he's a starting pitcher or not or check ahead of time to see if he'll even play in the game at all?

Tanaka is a starting pitcher, so if you don't see him in the first inning he won't be playing at all.  It looks like he's the projected starter for tomorrow's (Wed. /09) game, starting at 7:05 eastern.

I missed the first few minutes of the game yesterday, but I watched the first three innings and never once did they cut to Mai Satoda in the stands. Apparently she was there, but I never saw a shot of her.
 
The New York Post got some shots of her cheering her husband and put them on their website:

So it seems like we sort of get an explanation of why she left H!P....and it was because she was unhappy about her voice and thought it'd get better, but to her it didn't so she just left on her own (seems like her parents didn't want her to leave the program after all)
