Non Peace!

Post by ashivers »

I found this yesterday, with just a little bit of SQUEEness. Forgive me <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /weeeh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' />

She's finally come out of just being mentioned in whats-his-face hubby's blog and made her own!!

Shes been busy with 3 posts already even though she started it yesterday; nothing beats the third post! Ogawa/Non kiss + Mikitty/Non kiss + Satoda Mai/Inaba Atsuko/Non kiss = total win! Okay, so I don't care for the last pic, but still.

I think the Yokohama performance maybe have finished now or will be finishing soon (don't know the schedule) so she must have so many mixed feelings, along with the rest of EC, as their concert comes to a close and their new future is ahead of them. She chose a great time to start this blog so we can know a little bit of what she's going through <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Funny how I never liked Non that much until I got into W, and now I'm like, overly excited about this blog <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ohyeah.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':danceman:' />

Motherhood must being doing well for her because it looks like she has not aged much at all! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... umbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' />

I like the pic of her with her hair down near the beginning of the blog. Why doesn't she wear it like that for the concert, instead of the puff-ponytail or the pigtails?

Am I to assume that the title of the blog is like a play on One Piece (so Non Piece as opposed to Non Peace)?

I believe I have seen Non used in relation to her elsewhere, so I figured this out like right away.

Anyway YAY! I'm so excited! My second favorite H!P member. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' /> Now I don't have to stalk Ultraman's blog anymore!

Yeah no sorry, seems like she's been using that nickname, Non, for a while. Even Kago said it in an interview a while ago.

That's EXACTLY what I thought too! She looks more adorable with her hair down and natural.

You might be right there! But then again, she has kinda established her nickname as Non lately so... I'm not sure which its meant to be. I mean, you know how theres "usa-chan peeeeace!" and a lot of girls make up "their own" peace signs? I was kinda thinking that that was what she was going for.

Haha I second the blog stalking <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

For anyone interested, i've only done the first entry so far, but I've started to translate the blog at least until H!O start:

EDIT: Wordpress is a friggen pain in the neck <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ecrazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' /> Formatting, even putting in paragraphs... they just don't work!!

Am I the only one who doesn't give a flying fuck what she does for the rest of her life? She was starting to get annoying even when W first started, and by the time they called it quits, I was about at my wits end. I haven't found her cute or entertaining since about early 6th gen MM and it kinda boggles me why people like this write public blogs.

I clicked on it to see what everyone was talking about and christ, the one picture where she has her hair completely straightened and all the way down, she looks like a completely different person. Isn't it funny how much these stereotypes they cast on her in H!P have changed the way we see her? This kinda furthers the idea to me of just how little we really know about idols' real lives. Most of her pictures look kinda ridiculous, with her still doing annoying idol poses and hairstyles, but that one stood out.

In one entry she seems to be saying her baby is 'house sitting'? I hope that doesn't mean she left her home by herself!!!

Yeah, she'd just leave her alone without anyone taking care of her, and then publicly post about it.

Yeah, thats why I put the ' ' on 'housesitting', because It sounds really weird. That sentence was the only one I really had trouble with. Unless my translations wrong, I think what she MIGHT mean, is you know, how moms say weird stuff like, if they have their hubby and kid at home it'd be "(kid)'s looking after the house and hubby for me, so I got to have a night out". Of course the kids actually NOT, hubby's in charge, but its just some sort of affectionate saying? Or is my mum and auntie the only ones who say that?

Yes, though I am wary of anyone seeing celebrity blogging as having more credible insight into their "real" lives too. Blogs are just another media front, imo.

I wasn't saying it should or ever does have any insight into their lives, its very much the opposite, like you said, and just a media front/publicity tool. It just now dawned on me now, though, since it does at least show some small aspects of them "at home" or "not at work," so to speak, which serves to at least give a contrast to the way we usually see them (the way they're marketed.)

Otherwise it's kind of fun to read. The thing I can't stand about Japanese blogs, at least a lot of them, is that's it's almost all nonsense. Just tons of emoticons and pictures taken with bright flashes and "I did this and that and let's type out some hearts..."

This is amazing <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... iggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whatthe:' /> Yurina is awesome. She's probably the height of the average American guy, and that's really weird for H!P. I'd like to see her next to a lot of other H!P members nowadays, especially some of the previously "shit, that girl is tall" people like Kaori.

I don't know, I think they can be fun to read, depending on how they're done. Some of them help bring out more of the "personality" aspect many people enjoy in idols, they're just doing it in a modernized and trendy way. I've enjoyed some of the blogs Johnny's members do because they had fun themes - one member who is good at art just posts little drawings he does every so often with only a title for the text, other members tell funny stories about things that happened to them or talk about outings with other idols. So it's basically the same things you would get on a TV appearance, just in blog forms because blogs happen to be the in thing. With these H!P blogs that have been springing up, I kind of see it as them trying to replace the TV exposure these members no longer get. Most of these H!P girls with blogs are rarely on TV at all, and the ones that are usually show up as guests on quiz and variety shows - places where they mostly react to what's going on in the show and don't have much chance to talk about themselves. I think with services like ameba, you can even add celebrities to your friends or watch list, so it's really easy to keep up with them at the same time as you're keeping up with your friends.

I guess what I'm mainly trying to argue is that all of these "personality-building" things that they put in their blogs nowadays have a very skeptical nature to them. Everything that these idols are posting in these blogs is very much influenced by or monitored by the management companies who "own" them, so even if some of it may be true or may have actually happened, they're not the whole truth of the situation. They don't often talk about true emotions or things that may gain them a certain type of negative press, reputation, or attention if read by the public. Its not as if you were reading a friend's blog where they will disclose much more private and emotional things instead of "tee-hee I went to the mall today and bought some new clothes ~~~~ ^o^ ~~~~" And they sure as hell don't talk about the relationships they're having with the opposite sex, but that goes without saying. If anything, yes, the blogs are character-building, but the character they're building is the fictitious one that their management company wants them to be in the public/fan's eye.

But that's everything idols do (though I do believe that some idol personalities are more based in reality than others). I don't see the blogs as being any more ficticious than Alo Hello DVDs, TV appearances, concerts, etc - they're just an extension of those things built for a new popular media. I think we're actually on the same page there, the main point of my post was to respond to your questioning of why people liked them. As long as they have some kind of content beyond "I'm going to be in this drama next friday please watch!" they can be entertaining in the same way DVDs, TV appearances, etc are.
