Berryz Koubou's Dakishimete Dakishimete PV

Post by Joel »

Dohhhup!

Interesting. I really like but it's not really near to fantastic or anything. On the plus side, Saki looks really good with the blue streak in her hair... And Risako is becoming the new Reina.

AWW Berryz grew up! And awww Captain eyebrows looks so adorable with her funky hair.

I like it, except for that "WOO!" It is all sorts of generic dance song but I can listen to it a few more times.

I am also pretty unimpressed by Risako's yell-singing and super pained expression; just don't understand why she is always center. They all look very cute, except for Yurina who just looks...weird. It must be the curly hair.

I think this is fantastic. No one's voice is over-prevalent in the song (though Berryz are usually pretty good about that) and they all still sound very unique, kinda like in Madayade. They're doing different vocal styles and vocalizations that they haven't been allowed to do before. Risako and Maasa's vocal weaknesses show themselves very well here, but they're not terribly distracting. The background of the song is fantastic, with a really strong dance beat and high synths, as well as key changes for every chorus. I could see myself listening to this a lot. This has to be their best song since Tsukiatteru, way back when. Even though Monkey Dance was entertaining, the song wasn't as good.

The video is really cool, with the crazy lighting and some pretty stylish and weird clothes, but no one looks bad. The hairstyles are especially different, because none of them have ever had hair like they do here, except maybe Momo, but I tend to block her out of my mind when watching stuff. The parts where it fans out like, 8 images of the girl across the screen look awesome as hell.

Is it ok that I think this is possibly the best thing to come from H!P in a while? Seriously, I just fell in love with this song the first time I heard it and I cannot stop listening to it.

The thing about Risako's yell-singing is that it sounds better than how she used to sing before. I think she'll eventually get better. Unlike Yurina. She has sound the same pretty much since BK started. I think Maasa has gotten a little bit worse. I also thing that Yurina looks good in that curly hair unlike Maasa who looks like a completely differfent person.

Great song, great PV. I like the low notes in the verses, it's something sort of different for them. I'm not sure why people think Maasa sounds bad though? I think she sounds really nice these days, much better than early Berryz. She doesn't really have any lines in the song that are that difficult either. Saki on the other hand, despite having just as easy lines, still sounds strained and nasal, like she's forcing a man-voice or something. I can't quite describe it, it's just unpleasant to listen to. Nobody's voice really ruins the song though, especially since no one sings long enough to get annoying.

I like how this PV is basically the standard H!P format of dance scenes alternated with close ups, but it's more entertaining since they added some cool effects. See, it's not that hard H!P

Not very catchy but has a good beat to dance to. Nice outfits except for Miyabi's hooker hose.

Dance shot asap.

Ah, but I like Maasa looks prettier! I also love the way Chinami is growing up - she is so cute.

Also, I really like the costumes too for the whole PV. I could see myself wearing Saki's outfit (except, you know, I'm old and it wouldn't be cute anymore).

And the zoom in on Risako's chest at 22 sec made me loooolll. I also thought it was hilarious when the camera ran through the first close ups. Everyone is trying to look extremely mature/serious/pained except for Momoko who is just smiling HAHA.

I like this tons better than their previous single. The PV is alright, although this one particular slow-motion Risako moment at ~3:08 made me throw up in my mouth a bit, haha.

All in all, very nice. I can't wait for the Dance Shot version. These girls and C-ute have gotten so good at this stuff. Time for another joint concert!

And another good video for Berryz. Awesome. I agree, TnB, it's not that hard to make a good video. You've got a bunch of cute girls to show off: there's no way these videos should be disgustingly boring. There's no way it should be bad. Throw some girls in some skirts, and I should be happy to watch just about anything. I think one of the reasons that Berryz videos always come off so good is that they know how to look like they're having fun. It's not just a dance shot plus close up, they get turns at the turntable! That one little addition to the formula helps so much.

I don't notice dances normally, but this dance seemed pretty darn entertainin' to watch. The girls all look great in this too, even if all their attempts at SeriousFace just look goofy. I became a huge fan of Chinami ever since her antics pretty much owned the Dschinghis Khan video, and her appearance in this doesn't deter that feeling. Miyabi's prettiness also stands out a lot, but, well, she always stands out like that. And Saki is, uh, cute.

As for the song itself, it's not my favorite of what Berryz has been doing, but at least it's different and at least it's not Yuke Yuke. Actually, now on my second listen, I am liking it a bit more. I really like how the songs sounds when the vocals start and I like the rhythm of the solo lines. I also love the drop at the three-minute mark, but I'm a sucker for all musical breaks like that.

It's amazing what a little makeup can do to totally change a member. It's like woah! D:

The dance looks interesting. I can't wait to see a dance shot. The PV is pretty basic but the effects just make it cool. I think when you have a song that has a strong beat like this one, a dance only PV works better.

Then you have a PV like Morning Musume's latest and you have this song that's trying to be sad but then you have the dancing and it just kinda ruins it.

Though to tell you the truth I have no idea what they are singing in the Berryz song, but I doubt it's about crying and breaking up. But it works whatever they are singing about.

Aw, I like this song.

I really have been more enthralled by C-ute than Berryz for a good while now. This is nice, but I don't know that it'll bring me back.

I laughed out loud at the clone linedancing scenes. I don't even know why.

I'm loving this. I have never been a big Berryz fan but I can't help but enjoy it. The vocals aren't the strongest but for whatever reason I can't get enough of the generic dance/club background music. The video is decent too.

I love it. It's got lazer lights, chest pops, catchy music, tsunku screams (ya hoo) and synth! As a H!P fan this is the best, Risako's singing be damned.

I'm starting to wonder if the 'ya hoo' effect was just sampled once and they just randomly throw it in to songs for fun. I swear it sounds no different than other songs that I can't think of at the moment.

Like everybody else says, this PV is pretty cool. The only things I didn't like were the flashy camera changes and lights mostly in the beginning. I think it was starting to give me a headache, but I'm not sure. Then the song just doesn't stick in my head like other songs do. I'm more of a Yuke Yuke Monkey Dance and Dschinghis Khan kind of fan.

The "ya hoo" thing everyone keeps talking about is a really big thing in the Japanese club scene. If you get into any of their club remix/rave scene stuff, that little phrase is in a good 90% of the songs. For a more clear instance, look at some of the things like the Buschiage Trance album series. These CDs are meant to represent what it would be like being at a trance rave/club scene in one of these underground night-time party events, except all of the songs on these CDs are trance/gabber remixes of popular Jpop songs. They even have intro tracks introducing each song with an MC, as well as some crowd cheers, but on most of the songs, they insert the "ya hoo" or "wa hoo" thing into it a whole bunch of times where it never was in the original song. This is more clearly mirroring the whole DJ/MC duo thing that is popular in those scenes all over the world, where the MC says random shit during and between songs, consisting of chants, words, or just noises to get the crowd hyped up. For any Bemani fans, think of Teranoid and MC Natsack. Its kinda like how wota always chant their goofy shit over H!P songs at concerts to the rhythm at certain times, except this is to non-idol music.

This idea has leaked its way into a small handful of pop songs in the last few years that have an arrangement somewhat similar to the club/house stuff, and this is probably how so many people recognize it. I think stuff like DJ OZMA/DJ SHARPNEL and all that shit (I don't really listen to them, but they're fairly popular) is that kind of style, and with how popular Dragostea din Tei got a few years ago, it opened up the mainstream pop market over there up to this kind of stuff. This Berryz song is just an even further bleeding over from those examples, now entering the idol world.

Now, come to think of it, the wota will probably shit bricks when this gets done in concert The "ya hoo"s from the crowd will be 10 times louder than the house speakers.

I like the idea of "ya-hoos" produced into songs (this is where I would link to TABOO and you would all be in awe, but YouTube is literally littered with cover after cover and yet no PV, so imagine you are in awe), but I don't think there's enough moderation in this song. Using it every measure in the interludes is just annoying. There are plenty of points in the chorus and verses where it would be more appropriate and less annoying. TSUNKU

That aside, I kinda like the song and the PV is well done. I don't really care for the vocals. I want something more along the lines of SOME BOYS! TOUCH, but I guess that would be too awesome, huh?

If I remember correctly, FLASHBACK -Original Mix- on Buchiage Trance 3 had a random group of people using whistles and girls doing wota chants. But yeah, I really love the club influence on the song! I've wanted a good Buchiagey song since Kioku no Mieru, and this really delivers on it.

I can see how that connection was made, but Kioku no Mieru is more of a straight trance song, the beat isn't strong enough to have the buschiage/underground feel to it. A great song nonetheless, but a pretty different style, within the many sub-genres of techno.

Not trying to go there, either.

Does anybody else think Kumai looks stunning?
She really does, and especially since she doesn't have her usual (see: 95% of the time you see her) fake smile expression on her face, and the hair somehow works in a weird, retro way. I wish she would get more exposure, but I think she might not be too great of a singer, so they don't want to force her out to the front. I think her being freakishly tall might have something to do with that too, since putting her in front would make it even more obvious. Back in the day, she was pretty good, singing-wise (see: Aisuru hito no Namae wo), but maybe puberty screwed up her voice lately.

That's the first thing I noticed when I watched it. I just love her.

And I had to pause the video on the first close up of Maasa and Chinami to figure out who they were because they looked so different. Maybe the song will grow on me.

Chinami and Yurina are the beneficiaries of cool new hair...the CPT not so much. I also prefer Maasa with straight hair. My reaction to this was "FINALLY!" I've been kind of miffed the past year that C-ute got all the better songs and dances (ever since Tokaikko Junjou). Now BK has something really good. I can't wait for the dance shot of this! BTW, speaking of crowd noises, this song is begging for a "woo woo" from the wota at 1:08 and 1:12 and whenever it gets to that chorus. I think you know what I mean.

I've been waiting for this PV to come out ever since I saw the song in concert and fell in love and I definitely wasn't disappointed. It's a very simple PV, but I agree with what has been said that the effects of multiplying the girls and letting them act out the club scene a bit really add a lot more than just a close up and dance shot PV.

And Captain is looking nice with her hairstyle. I love her lower voice, but it does seem lately like they are trying to force her into a very low alto and it doesn't sound natural.

Risako's also growing on me.
