I still don't believe this and its been like.. 3 hours.
Ok, so, would any one of you want a personal Giggolo for all summer 09? I'm hot and latino, and I roll my r's really well. I can also impersonate the puss on boots, and say the "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." line.
I'll do ANYTHING. You just have to fly me to LA to Anime Expo in July. That's it.
Anyone? ANYONE?
You could always marry me and get your green card. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

That'll be neat. Maybe some video clips'll hit Doh^4Up after it's over. I know I won't be able to go. It's great that they're hitting US soil (again?), but if it means they'll only be attending anime conventions in the future (as opposed to, say, actual tours), I probably won't spaz too much.
So, did the entire board just melt into a gelatinous blob of fangirl because of all of this? I don't even want to see the shit storm over at H!O

If only it was a group worth meeting <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> And if only it didn't cost upwards of $400 some dollars to get there <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... iggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /> I guess they do have JunLin and Koharu... And its the day after my birthday..
Where's this damn Buono appearance they were talking about a few months ago?
Hmm, if its all the way in July, I might possibly have some money. If Tsunku was there, I'd be buying my tickets right now, but alas. I'm sure a ton of friends will be going, one way or another, but I can't imagine how gay and crowded the waiting area to get into the show will be. The things we do. Damn, I guess I'll probably be going, some way or another.

I'm going to be... in Europe. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ryalot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Hmm.... 2 week/7 country trip of Europe, or Anime Expo to see Morning Musume? I admit that I'll choose Morning Musume over anything anytime. Especially if there will be a MMBBS meet-up!! Ahhh.

If you're serious about letting the BBS stay at your apartment then I think those of us that do should chip in some compensation for utilities, rent and food. I'll gladly throw in $10, $20 or even $50 considering I plan on volunteering.
How about it people? CYRENE'S APARTMENT? I call a sofa!
I wouldn't go to an anime/manga convention, even if MM AND X Japan would show up and hide would be revived somehow.
Maybe you guys haven't seen enough Conventioneers Episodes to know what kind of people are on such things... unless... you are actually part of those people.
How about the kind of people you'd have to deal with at H!P concerts?
By the "eww fanboy logic", we should just never try to see Morning Musume. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... lleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I'd consider it more if I weren't going to possibly be in school around then. If they'd announce a more detailed schedule and MM's stuff was going to be on the weekend, then maybe it'd work, but there's also the matter of the plane ticket/hotel cost/ticket to the convention, etc.

You know, I totally know what you mean because I don't even really like this current line up. But all of a sudden they announce a trip to LA and I'm a raging fan girl. It is too exciting!!! Happy for those of you that get to go from MMbbs, though I think it's a bad thing as MM will see the H!O fandom as the dominant form of US fans and they are not a good impression to give to anyone. Considering they're the idiots who still believe all the Elder Club is out of a job after March.
I can see them selling signed merchandise, or sending something up to be signed, but I can't really see UFA letting MM do an actual handshake if it's not involving the hundreds of dollars people spend to buy enough cds to win the ticket.

Yeah - but you never know. When GLAY, Puffy, and other acts came to perform in LA (HoB), they were all very intimate affairs. Since they do not expect a large fanbase in America, some of those money-milking tactics are done away with and it becomes mostly a promotion thing. At one AX, Hyde gave an interview just sitting in a roped off section of the dealer's room. So even though there was no "handshake" bit, it was still very low-key with lots of people swarming around and a few fans sitting on the floor in front of him. If I really wanted to jump him, I could've. Just saying.
Does anyone know what Shokotan did? It might be a good gauge of what to expect. Aside from her concert last year, I did see a line for fans waiting to get her autograph and a quick one-on-one chat.

According to the videos, (http://www.axbackstage.org/?page_id=20 [see "Shokotan Panel"]), she had a Q&A panel, appearances at con events (being a judge for some "idol" event and some masquerade), and a concert!! Some of those events might have been because of the person she was, though.
Wow, I'd go (just for MM <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... joyful.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> ) if I could scrape up enough money to get and stay there. As it is, I hope that there are lots of coverage by the people who go, for people who can't go. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

They should've held AX in Anaheim this year. A 30-minute drive to this would be so much easier to talk myself into than an hour drive. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
I feel about the same as eri about this. I haven't really paid much attention to or even cared about MoMusu for a year & now I'm adding all their singles to my iPod haha. But I'll probably be going to see them anyway & there's a good number of mm-bbs members I'd still like to meet. But if Tanakahashi's not part of the group when this rolls around, I'm gonna punch every one of you Aika fans in the gut when I meet you <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... dammit.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

But if Tanakahashi's not part of the group when this rolls around, I'm gonna punch every one of you Aika fans in the gut when I meet you <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... dammit.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

good. now come to Canada <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... dammit.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />. I'm not going all the way to fucking Cali. Not that I could, my citizenship isn't in order yet <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /sleep.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />
Re: Anime Expo® Announces Morning Musume As First Official Guests Of Honor For 2009 Convention In Los Angeles
This would be fun to go to but it's the fact that it's at an Anime convention.... it really makes it kinda lame. I've been to so many over the years, and I know what a lot of the "con attendies" are like, so it just doesn't appeal to me...being in that sort of crowd 0___0;;; I'm not saying everyone is like that, but there are a lot of freaky fans who go to these events and end up ruining it for people who just want to see the act perform <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' /> I've really gone off conventions due to these types of people >__<; Same thing goes for Hangry and Angry at Sakura con <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' /> I really don't want to make the effort and spend the money if I'm going to wait in line and get trampled by people ^__^;

I can and probably will go. I've been to Anime Expo once before but I forget where it was. I'm up for a mmbbs meet up but I doubt any of you know or remember me.
Does anyone know what Shokotan did? It might be a good gauge of what to expect. Aside from her concert last year, I did see a line for fans waiting to get her autograph and a quick one-on-one chat.
I was there last year and shokotan did 3 autograph sessions, an hour long panel, judged the cosplay masquerade and an hour long-ish concert.
I was able to get a photo with Shoko, excuse the shitty camera phone quality. Also they were some what restrictive with what you could get autographed, you could only have them sign stuff they were selling at the con. But the 2nd autograph session they allowed gurren lagann posters and etc. Who knows what they will do this year.

Holy Shit! I didn't know they were coming to Seattle. I'm glad I actually read through everyone's posts. It would be much cheaper to take the bus into Seattle and see Yossi than buy a plane ticket to see ones I hardly care about. Wow. How have I not heard about this before now?
But still very exciting news. It'd be fun to go to see them but unfortunately I just can't afford it.

I know what you mean. I went to a few cons in high school and loved them. It was more after I'd been to Japan and come back and had seen some of the other people studying abroad who were in Japan just for anime, and realized how scary and lame a lot of the people at the cons were. There are those that go and generally love the anime and culture, but are realistic about it, not OMG ANIME OMG I SPEND EVERY CENT I HAVE ON THIS! ... etc.

Actually, yes. Wota might have a bad image, but of all the idol wota I've met, they are much better. Most have jobs and aren't really scary once you talk to them, even if they may look creepy on the outside. Generally the sketchier they look the sweeter and softer spoken they are, atleast in my experience. Not saying you won't get trampled, but maybe it's just my wota-ness speaking but having an unrealistic love for someone who is real versus an anime character is a bit better. When you hear the chants in person you really feel how honestly all the fans just want to send their energy to the girls.
Why couldn't this happen when the lineup were people I liked? D:
That's the first thing I said when I heard about this, too. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' /> Not that I'd be able to make it to LA anyway, but I probably wouldn't even drive the 4 hours to Chicago to see this lineup.

Re: Anime Expo® Announces Morning Musume As First Official Guests Of Honor For 2009 Convention In Los Angeles
I want to go for the meet-ups and shenanigans (Hey, Pi, where does one find an Aika-sized kidnapping sack, anyway? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hawhaw.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' /> ), but part of me is still trying to talk myself out of it due to cost, the crowds (in general, I mean. I could care less about weeaboo types. I have dealt with sci-fi fans at D*C with no problem), and flying to someplace I am not familiar with.
If someone were to give me a better estimate on how much the whole thing would cost (con ticket, concert ticket, percentage of hotel crash space, average flight cost, and random additional costs), my head would have a better time wrapping itself around the possibility of attending.
Plus, I found out some old friends from Rochester, NY (where I used to live) are attending the con as their vacation and it would be nice to see them too.
It's amusing to me because they run a fuckin' anime store. They are actually some of the most mature and down-to-earth people I know (OMG the stories they tell about nightmare customers, though!). Can you imagine running an anime store and then going to an anime convention for HOLIDAY? I am lost on the logic there, really, but hey, whatever floats their boat.
Their only flaw is that the female half of the pair is a Risa fan and the male half of the pair only recently noticed the group due to Koharu. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /lmfao.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />
