She's getting married to that comedian guy she's been dating for about two years, Tomoharu Shoji. No concrete details about the wedding nor are there plans for a press conference as of yet but it's possible they might have one.

Oh my god that's awesome! One of the things that pissed me off the most about Mari's scandal with Shun is that they broke up like two seconds later. At least Miki made her fabulous diva exit with someone she's going to stick around with! And it's always exciting to see a Japanese celeb wedding that doesn't have anything to do with babies. Well. Unless they're withholding details.

I was surprised at first to see this headline, almost like a reflex to seeing someone in H!P's name next to "engaged" XD Then I remembered oh yeah...this is kind of old meme. Good for her though, sticking by him and all. Now he's provided with comedy material for life, since Shinagawa Shouji seemed to instantly drop whatever they used to do and adopt "lets make fun of Shouji for his semi-scandalous relationship!" as soon as the news came out.

Why had I thought they'd broken up? It's nice to hear they haven't, it's nice to see someone in H!P stay with a guy and settle with him because she wants to, not for a baby emergency. (But who knows. I'm sure many of us are skeptics.)

I still think the guy looks weird, especially since she is beautiful. I'm happy for her. I'm sad that it seems like she's trying to brush off a career right now because I love her voice, but if she's half as happy as Nono is it would be a good choice. At the very least, she can laugh her ass off at any given time now.



I wasn't as surprised as I was with Kaori or Nono though, probably because those were the first announcements. I think the only surprising thing left is Yuko announcing marriage <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':popper:' /> Or maybe a Berryz or C-ute member being impregnated.

The funniest part is that they busted up her single that came out....after she had long since acknowledged that she was dating this guy, and neither of them made much of a secret of the fact that they were still dating. I remember there being a press conference with Miki right around the time Oki Tegami came out, and they asked her if she was still seeing Shouji, and she just sort of brushed them off with a coy answer that didn't say yes, but didn't say no. I didn't mean to imply that she flaunted it, but neither she nor UFA tried to make it seem like she'd left him and was going back to being a pure idol. Every time I've seen Shinagawa Shouji on TV (which is just when they show up on other people's shows as a guest, I'm not a follower of theirs), they made a lot of jokes about it. Shinagawa would say something like "You idol snatcher you!" or "Oh yeah, his girlfriend F-" and then Shouji would cut him off - in that Japanese commedian "We planned it this way" sort of fashion, not like Shinagawa was actually catching Shouji by surprise. I went back to look at the date of the shows I was thinking of to make sure I wasn't remembering wrong, and one was in February 08, another in May 08 - so well after the original scandal. So at least Shouji was referencing them as a couple in a present-tense way a year after the news first came out.
