"Great Tokyo Girls" Finalists!

"Korea-Japan project audition show ‘Great Tokyo Girls’ 15 finalists have been revealed. The 15 were chosen out of the 2500 participants.



The finalists ranged from 27 corporate worker to middle school 3rd year student cum ex Swi.T member, to model off Ceci photoshoots. The finalists were picked by the producer of ‘Morning Musume’ looking at their online audition videos submitted.



The winners from this audition show will form the group ‘Hello Project’.

2. Grey sweater, 1487: Kim Jung Eun. Egads, she's 27!?



3. White tee, 1595: Kim Cho Hye... looks more like Chon or Chun Hye to me, but whatever.



4. Yellow shirt, 1604: Kim Hae Young.. I guess she's not actually a finalist, because that's what her nametag clearly says.



5. Pink shirt with the guitar, ... 702?: Park So Hyun? So Han? So Hun? I can't see clearly. Holy hell, she looks like Nacchi. She might not actually be a finalist, either...



6. Blunt bangs & white tee, 121?: Seo Ye Rin? Huh. Her name doesn't seem to be on here either.



7. Corn rows, 134: So Yoo Mi. Holy hell, that dance. XD



8. School-girl outfit, 841: Song Ji Eun



9. Grey dress: They never get a close-up, so I dunno.



10. Blue sweater, 17: Ahn Ha Young. I loooove her voice. Although the trot imitation was kind of... unnecessary. XD Trying to be like that guy in Kanjani8, honey?



11. Tan sweater, 635: Yang Yeon Soo. A Gee auditioner!



12. Red sweater, 996: Oh Mi Na



13. Pink dress and cute hat, 286: Lee Da... something. I don't think she's actually a finalist either. :/



14. Tan dress, 1486: Lee Soo Jin. Aww, cute, she auditioned with Aruiteru.



15. Red hat, 251: Lee Rae Ri? Maybe? I guess it could be Lee Hae Ri? Rae Ri is a weird name, anyway.



16. Lacy dress, 1020: Kang Da Yeon. Ah, the elusive 15-year-old. Old by H!P standards! That was a really half-assed version of "Ah!" that she danced to, though.



17. Grey sweatshirt: I dunno. No close-up, moves too much. She's adorable, though.



18. White sweatshirt, 185: Hong Ji Yeon? Either my vision sucks or my romanization sucks... or her handwriting sucks. :| Could be Song Ji Eun, I guess.

Hey, first episode of the series! Which seems to be officially called "Dream Girl" now... yeah, there's a lot of translation fail going on while I was researching the show.

- I think, when the two boys who MC come up, they're talking about how they survived a similar picking-talent-via-audition-reality-show (which they did), so they know ~how the girls feel~. Or something. The one that looks like Rain is named Junho, and the one that looks like a dinosaur is named Chansung.

- They, btw, completely dwarf Momusu. I've heard that Korean guys tend to be the tallest of the East Asian groups [tinytext](ok Yao Ming not included, stfu)[/tinytext] so the girls are kind of O_O when they first come over. This could also have a lot to do with the Really Fucking Huge Language Barrier. Then an awkward conversation ensues, and I have no idea what's going on. Risa attempts Korean, they maybe sort of understand.

- So, I guess one of the judges is E-Tribe, the producer of Gee, U-Go-Girl, and my all-time fav It's You. I have no idea who the other two are, aside from perhaps "dancing coach" and "producer lady". Maybe.



Hey, girls!

- Mi Na has a awesome voice! Only a decent face, but nothing make-up can't fix. We all saw pre-MM Koharu...

- Cho Hye... meh. She got a such a short amount of time... she also has a strangely choppy way of speaking, idk.

- Yoo Bin is a good singer and also reeeaaally pretty. You don't get much face time until she finishes, but her eyes are HUGE. I’d be surprised if she didn’t go farther merely based on looks. I’d heard somewhere something about one of the finalists being “an ex-Ceci (a Korean fashion magazine) model” and I bet she’s the one.

- Da Yeon... hmmm, meh. Pretty damn young.

- Ha Yeong... lol, decides to dance. But they abruptly cut her off. Ouch, bitchy judges. It's a shame, because she had SUCH a good voice in the initial audition tape, she really ought to have tried to sing instead?

- Ye Rin... Ooooh, dear, poor thing, she's clearly really nervous. She's pretty good though, nothing a little training + [tinytext]AutoTune[/tinytext] can't fix. And plus - 1996. She's like what, 13? Doesn't really look it, though.

- Hae Ri's pretty young too... damn, what's with these girls looking no where near their age? She's younger than most of Berryz... and taller than all of them sans Yurina, I believe. She also has bitchin' English and sings Hairspray! I like her, even though her face is a bit... hmm.

- Mi Kyung sounded cute, but she got really nervous. Ah, well.

- Jung Eun! The infamous 1983-er! Damn, she doesn't look it. I hope I look that good at 27. D: Reeeeally pathetic audition, though.

- Soo Jin was meh. Strong voice, but off-pitch.

- So Ri... sorry sorry sorry sorry... I wonder if she gets that a lot. Technically, they spell "sorry" a little differently, though. She sung a nice kind of R&B-ish version of "Nobody", that was cool.

- Yoo Soo was cute, but aaaah so much fail. The judges and the other girls started like, laughing at her fail. Poor thing...

- Ji Yeon's cute too, but... not a fantastic singer. In fact, a pretty terrible singer. Getting secondhand embarrassment just watching her. I love how the producer lady's jaw is just dropped at how bad she is..

- Yoo Mi... ah, the dancer chick. Clearly, this whole "cute girl-next-door" image isn't going to quite fit, but I'm not sure she can pull off the whole ghetto-cute thing like Reina.

- Ji Eun danced too, and she wasn't bad. Not nearly as... ... um, powerful, as the girl before her, but still pretty good.



- I think they got divided into two teams past that.

- Then... I think they have insult-offs? Judging by the reactions, what other people said, and what I caught, I THINK they were supposed to be pointing out weaknesses in each other's singing/dancing, but instead they just started dissing each other's appearances (like, "why is your skin so tan?") and the MC dudes get kinda pissy, since their talent-reality-show was really, really intense. REALLY intense. Like military training, more like, because JYP is a crazy motherfucker, so I think they're a bit pissy that the girls aren't really taking it seriously.



Next week looks like it's going to be filled with massive drama! Tears! Possibly large group elimination! I love audition season!

Maybe it's just me, but H!P seems to make a huge load of stuff in/with korea recently.



They're doing so much, I wonder if anything will still be around next year.



The one in the dress with the cat on it (5:10) looked really motivated, I'm looking forward to see more of her !



The girl at 6:10 looked like she'll be a lot of fun to watch. haha

I'm rooting for her! She def. has the cute singing voice down, and it sounds pretty good. Later in that episode, you could see her with glasses. I also think Koreans like height so all the aspiring idols will take, like, hormone drugs to grow super tall. All of the celebrities in Korea look like models (5'7" ish) but idol groups in Japan (esp mm) like them petite.

Question - are all the ages listed for the girls a year older than they actually are? Like, the whole thing with Korea when you're born you're already counted as a year old. (So, that 27 year old is actually 26?)

I FINALLY found a video source for new episodes. This person's video channel on YT seems to have a lot of the episodes - and the audition videos.

Figures that they'd take the 15-year-old. She's decently cute, I guess, but I wasn't impressed by what little of it I did watch. There were girls that were a bit older, but more talented, and prettier too.
