BOUGHT MY TICKETS!
IN 2009, I GOT TO SEE ALL MY 1990S JAPANESE MUSIC GROUPS.
OMGLOADSLFADKJF WOE ERWAF
I was so sad when I missed them in 2008. Hooray!!
edit: Ok, I'm calmer.
They're at the Fillmore again in SF tomorrow night. For Sept 11, 12, they're at the House of Blues in LA. They played these places last year (when I missed them).
It is their 15th anniversary and they came out with a new album a while ago. I plan to go and have sex with all of them...but as long as they magically transform into their younger selves of about 10 years ago. Thats all.

GLAY...
THAT BRINGS BACK MEMORIES of a younger me that worshiped Jrockers! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hahaha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Tell me how it went so my inner 13 year old will be satisfied!

Re: GLAY IN LA/SF
This is such BS. I lived in CA from 99 to 01, and then again from 05 to 06, and no one came, then MM and then GLAY come. Fuck!! I would have been the first one to buy a ticket for the SF show. I lived about 30 minutes away from the Filmore. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nfused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Re: GLAY IN LA/SF
I agree. I "like" their newer stuff, but I worship their 90s stuff. The ticket would be worth it just to hear "More than Love" and "HOWEVER."

I wish I went last year - they seemed to play a lot of classics that time. I don't really know half of this set list because it comes from their newest albums! But yeah, I worship their older stuff - my first really big GLAY obsession-resulting song was probably Yuuwaku or Soul Love. I love Kanojo no Modern too.
Are you really far away from Ca now? Its too bad you can't come to LA for the Fri/Sat shows <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Re: GLAY IN LA/SF
Yeah, I'm clear across the country near DC now! Who knows? Maybe they might do a NYC gig next year. I would defintely drive or take the train up there for a GLAY concert if they did one there. The first time I heard GLAY was back in 1997 when a Japanese friend in college let me borrow a few of his CDs over winter break. One of the CDs was Glay's first "best of" album, REVIEW. I was immediately hooked.
Re: GLAY IN LA/SF
It's always good news when a major name like that comes to the West, so yay! Hope everyone who went had a great time.
I don't really know GLAY save for this awesome PV

which was the beginning of my life-long romance with Studio 4°C and Koji Morimoto (the same people as behind Ayumi's "Connected" and Utada's "Passion"). I even got one of GLAY's best or single collections after that but didn't really got hooked up, being more Visual Kei-like J-Rock at that time.
Still, I wish I could have went, because a gig is always fun! So one more yay for you fangirls for getting your fodder. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nceman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Anyone got any pictures?

Re: GLAY IN LA/SF
It was one of the most amazing nights of my life.
We ate dinner at HoB and heard them rehearse for a while. They were practicing Great Vacation and Yuuwaku but eventually did not sing Yuuwaku! I was disappointed about that.
HoB is standing room only and very small. There was the stage, a 1 foot space, and then the little wall holding fans back. I was about 3-people behind this wall in between Hisashi and Teru. I can't explain how surreal it is to see these mega-rock stars just within grabbing distance -- if I reached out my arm, Teru's leg was about half a foot away. It was so unreal to see, for example, Hisashi sweat or something like that. Teru spit water on us and all the girls screamed with happiness haha.
Most of the people coming from out of town were going to see both nights. Similar to the mm concert, people came from all over: Brazil, Bolivia, New York, Canada, and other places. A bunch of people came from Japan because they would otherwise never get to be so close to them.
From where I stood, most of the cat calls were from frantic women for Hisashi and a bit less for Jiro. One really sweaty, dorky guy kept yelling "TAKURO" towards the end which made everyone around him laugh. So many people rushed up to that stage and pushed forward that I could barely breath but, I managed to fight for my standing spot and weasled between 2nd and 4th "row" all night.
The setlist changed somewhat from the SF live. Teru is a very very good frontman and did a good job getting the crowd involved, singing along, etc. He forgot the lyrics at one point and somehow this was endearing. He's got this Kabukicho host hairstyle though. Unlike most Japanese singers, they are very very good performing live, esp in such a no smoke/mirrors venue like HoB and I've never been so impressed by a bass "solo" in my life.
Also, they interact with their fans a lot. By the end of the night, all 4 were performing on the edge of the stage. They give a LOT of eye contact with the crowd and sometimes speak to specific people directly. They threw water bottles, picks, and other tokens of love that we fought over. They picked up fan gifts like hand-drawn portraits and hand-made fans and, with direct eye contact, said thanks. It felt really really special.
Advanced tickets were roughly $40 and with all that surcharge bullshit from ticketmaster, we spent about $110 on tickets, $10 parking, and a $25 dinner from HoB that helped us get into the venue faster. They ran out of tshirts <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />. Otherwise, it was a little bit of money for something totally amazing. I wish I could go again tonight.

Re: GLAY IN LA/SF
one more thing:
By comparison, their Great Vacation concert at Nissan Stadium over the summer had about 70,000 people in attendance.
I was reading their English myspace and Teru wrote:
See? They are good to their fans. That Canada girl's report from last years concert is well known. She was here this year in LA, again in the front row.

Message from TERU after THE FILLMORE.San Francisco
All by coming to Fillmore thank you.
I remembered everyone's face that had come by getting thinking, "Came back".
”I love TERU!"Girl of the second row from ahead and girl who came from Canada this time by shout.
Girl in South Korea that translated.
Boy who soaks with sweat last time and is singing for a long time.
There were still a lot of fans of GLAY that had come this time.
Thank you for really a lot of smiles.
