I'm going back to Pokemon, namely Emerald and Platinum. The former for helping my cousin and her corrupt, always resetting game, and the latter for doing nothing but Super Contests. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... iggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' />

I'm loving Borderlands. It's a perfect mix of shooting and RPG elements with co-op that takes its cues from Phantasy Star Online set in a world that's basically Fallout's quirky brother with ADD.

I'm getting annoyed with the Phantom Hourglass forcing me through the same dumb time-limited dungeon for the third time (or is it fourth?). Way to artificially increase the gameplay time! I'm balancing between either ditching it altogether, or just going step by step with a walkthrough.

Also, Scribblenauts - I am unimpress. I don't like the graphics, and the gameplay is particularly exciting either. After getting through a too long tutorial I got stuck on the first mission - give a policeman and a firefighter something they can use in their hand. Dildo was not a recognized word, fish didn't do a thing, Bahamut was not a recognized word... So I got a rifle and shot everyone up. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hawhaw.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wub:' /> GAME OVER. Being able to get almost any object you can think of is a great concept for a game, but what the game then allows you to do with the object is completely unamusing. It made me miss some good old Incredible Machines though.

I've been playing Left 4 Dead on Steam lately. It's all kinds of awesome with the co-op mechanics, and well worth the $11.25 I paid for it (via a 4-pack) when it went on sale. Of course, I shouldn't be playing games right now, but that's another story... :/

I'll be buying this tomorrow, and I hope you were intelligent enough to get the 360 version, and if that's true, I'll be needing to find co-op partners.

I just heard about the Steam 4 pack offer, I'd love to make use of that but probably can't. Still might get Borderlands though... That would mean I can actually use steam for something other than TF2!

Been playing Scribblenauts, though mostly just screwing around on the title screen.

Playing Borderlands now. I really, really like it, but it's not without some negative points. The menus aren't as efficient as they could be, but I love the compare function and the "deal of the moment" feature is kind of adorable. The vehicles (at least the Runner) have a kind of unusual control scheme where you just go where you're aimed at, but I'm getting used to (and loving) it. There are a ton of weapons and ammo is almost always plentiful, but I'm more used to running through individual weapons, not ammo (I still love you Fallout 3~). The art style is very interesting and, sometimes when you look at stationary objects, it looks like you're just looking at a 2D sprite. It's interesting. Lastly, for the art style, the visuals seem a little excessively taxing. There aren't a lot of slowdowns unless you're in an area with a roofed section and there are eight enemies on you (which did happen and I still kicked their asses). My current character is a Hunter at level 11. I mainly stick with assault rifles, repeaters, and sniper rifles.

As a 48 Hunter, I recommend you train up the rogue tree. Once your birdy can stun enemies, they become so slow that a sniper rifle head shot is guaranteed.

I've been going towards the gunslinger path actually. I like sniping at enemies, but it seems like evey time I engage something, I end up either a) taking them out one hit or <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' /> play run-backwards-and-shoot-a-lot for a few minutes with every baddie that spawns.

I decided that The Phantom Hourglass is utterly ruined by the stupid fucking dungeon with a time limit that you need to visit like 10 times throughout the game. If I were to score the game out of 10, I'd give it 6, with 3 points being deducted just for that. At this stage I'm just using a walkthrough to be done with it as quick as possible and having no regrets whatsoever about that.

Playing borderlands on the PC, glad I stood my ground on this cause if I had to aim this precisely on the 360 I would've impaled my tv screen with the controller in frustration in about 15 minutes. I started out playing as the hunter because I like sniping and sneaking around, but it seems that all enemies have clairvoyance and can detect you coming before you even got there, so he's utterly useless. Restarted as soldier now. Dunno if anyone else has got the PC version but... well, I hate multiplayer anyway so never mind really.

Oh I guess I don't have that either.

I was wondering if you had issues with the mouse movement? The game itself runs perfectly respectable ~60fps, but the mouse movement (in menus, not when aiming) is really sluggish for me. Also, I it feels like the up/down movement is way faster than the sideways movement when aiming... I wish you could adjust the sensitivity of both axises.

I get that feeling too. Usually, you don't need to use the mouse in the menus though. Like, instead of clicking the headers, you can just hit the corresponding number. And, some menus will use WASD, and some won't. And I don't think the sensitivity even affects menus.

I found this, haven't tried it yet but there are some tweaks I was looking for (v-sync for example):

Here's a few tweaks I've come across and found that might help people with 'deconsolizing' Borderlands. I'm going to assume you all know where the location of these INI files are (Usually in USER NAME\Documents\My Games\Borderlands\WillowGame\Config in Vista).

To disable the startup movies:

-----------------------------

Within WillowEngine.ini:

Find:

[FullScreenMovie]

StartupMovies=2K_logo

StartupMovies=Gearbox_logo

StartupMovies=NVidia

StartupMovies=Loading

SkippableMovies=2K_logo

SkippableMovies=Gearbox_logo

SkippableMovies=Attract

SkippableMovies=NVidia

and comment out lines like so:

[FullScreenMovie]

//StartupMovies=2K_logo

//StartupMovies=Gearbox_logo

//StartupMovies=NVidia

//StartupMovies=Loading

//SkippableMovies=2K_logo

//SkippableMovies=Gearbox_logo

//SkippableMovies=Attract

//SkippableMovies=NVidia

If that doesn't work, replace the // with ;

To adjust FOV (Field of View):

-----------------------------

Within WillowInput.ini:

Search for "WillowGame.WillowPlayerInput". Below the chunk of bindings, add the following:

Bindings=(Name="F10",Command="FOV 90",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)

Bindings=(Name="F11",Command="FOV 110",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)

You can change the keys (F10 and F11) to whatever you'd like, as well as the FOV values.

To disable mouse smoothing:

----------------------------

Within WillowInput.ini:

Search for "bEnableMouseSmoothing" and you should come across the following line:

bEnableMouseSmoothing=True

Change to FALSE. This tremendously improves the feel of the mouse when looking around in-game and navigating the UI.

To disable/adjust weapon view bob:

----------------------------------

Within WillowGame.ini:

Search for "bWeaponBob" and you should come across the following lines:

bWeaponBob=TRUE

Bob=0.005

They should be pretty self explanatory. I can confirm the Bob numerical adjustment does work.

To enable VSync:

-----------------

Within WillowEngine.ini:

Search for "UseVsync" and you should come across the following line:

UseVsync=False

Change to TRUE.

To disable voice chat:

---------------------

Within WillowEngine.ini:

Search for "bHasVoiceEnabled" and you should come across the following line:

bHasVoiceEnabled=True

Change to FALSE.

To enable console:

------------------

*NOTE: This currently doesn't work correctly, it outputs all commands as 'SAY' commands*

Within WillowInput.ini:

Search for "ConsoleKey" and you should come across the following line:

ConsoleKey=

Add 'Tilde' after the equal sign to enable the console (should look like ConsoleKey=Tilde)

Enable Drop Weapon Key:

-------------------------

Within WillowInput.ini:

Search for "WillowGame.WillowPlayerInput". Within that section, search for "ThrowWeapon". By default, it's bound to "Underscore" - I changed mine to V, so it looks like:

Bindings=(Name="V",Command="ThrowWeapon",Control=F alse,Shift=False,Alt=False)

To make zoom a toggle (courtesy of Miker):

--------------------------------------------------

Within WillowInput.ini:

Add the text below under [WillowGame.WillowPlayerInput]

Bindings=(Name="ZoomIn",Command="StartAltFire | setbind RightMouseButton ZoomOut",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,LeftT rigger=False,RightTrigger=False,bIgnoreCtrl=False, bIgnoreShift=False,bIgnoreAlt=False)

Bindings=(Name="ZoomOut",Command="StopAltFire | setbind RightMouseButton ZoomIn",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,LeftTr igger=False,RightTrigger=False,bIgnoreCtrl=False,b IgnoreShift=False,bIgnoreAlt=False)

Then, edit the preexisting RightMouseButton binding to reflect the change:

Bindings=(Name="RightMouseButton",Command="advance dbutton bAdvancedButtonAux5",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt =False,LeftTrigger= False,RightTrigger=False,bIgnoreCtrl=False,bIgnore Shift=False,bIgnoreAlt=False)

to

Bindings=(Name="RightMouseButton",Command="ZoomIn" ,Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,LeftTrigger= False,RightTrigger=False,bIgnoreCtrl=False,bIgnore Shift=False,bIgnoreAlt=False)

To enable scroll wheel in text boxes:

-----------------------------------

Within WillowInput.ini

Search for all instances of the following (there should only be two instances):

InputKeyName="MouseScrollUp",ModifierKeyFlags=42

InputKeyName="MouseScrollDown",ModifierKeyFlags=42

remove the ",ModifierKeyFlags=42" so they look like:

InputKeyName="MouseScrollUp"

InputKeyName="MouseScrollDown"

Resident Evil 5 on Professional is really damn hard.

It's Contra Hard Corps-hard.

1 hit, you die and the "dying"-time is way too short. I guess this impossible with the normal AI.

However, I plowed through easy mode now (on veteran it took me 22 hours on my first try, haven't replayed a chapter on that difficulty since then) in under 5 hours and got the infinite rocket launcher ammo. Also maxed out the first magnum, got the S&W M500 and maxed that one out, but I don't have enough points for infinte ammo iirc.

Hopefully infinite rocket launcher will help me get through at least chapter 1. lol

I haven't felt the need to complete a game 100% for a long time now, but with RE5 it's different.

I must just be weird but that was like my favorite part of the game..........that and trying to get all the hearts that I could. I'm a sucker for always trying to beat my time. I actually beat it before my husband did. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wheely:' />

Right now, I'm trying to finish three games at once: Twilight Princess (Wii), Super Mario Galaxy, and the Conduit!! Not a big fan of FPS, but The Conduit actually got me hooked. Maybe it's just the controls on the wii. At the rate that I'm going though, the aliens would have taken over the whole world by now <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/doh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':doh:' />
