ARRRGGGHHH
I love short hair (my haircut is short) but the Japanese do not know what the hell to do with short hair. It's always this bland flat bob that doesn't highlight any facial features and everybody gets the same. Look at eyebrows, it's the same cut tucked behind her ears. :| I know Japanese hair is straight and flat, but fuck at least teach them how to do a blowout! At least attempt to add some volume! It always ages them and they look like freaking Grandmas.
It makes her face look rounder. She needed to have either 1. Gone a little longer so it rests below her chin or 2. Gone a little shorter so it is above her chin. A pixie cut wouldn't have been so bad (in fact I think it'd look good on her, but heaven forbid an idol get a pixie cut), or even LAYERS. Oh layers and some texture would've been good.
Utada's hair around the "Risk~Wait and see" days was awesome. I've gotten myself the same cut, I liked it so much. It's very flattering and cute. Maimi's haircut is not that good haircut, sadly.
See? Perfect length, interesting texture at the ends, actually styled instead of hanging flat.
BUT shorter is not always better....let's look at the "Prisoner of Love" single...
She still has a technically good haircut. However, I don't think it's flattering on her at all. She has a round face and those straight cut bangs just make her face look wider. It's too short for her.

WITH THE SAME HAIRCUT. It's styled though, so she wins a couple of points. MAKI, AYAYA, NACCHI, YAGUCHI, ERIKA, TAKAHASHI, YOSHIZAWA and probably more that I'm forgetting have had the same haircut. It's like the "I'm going short" cut of idoldom. It looks horrible on them! (except Erika, Nacchi, and Yaguchi. Nacchi always looked cute)
In short, Maimi needs to get a new hairdresser. Preferably one that doesn't do the haircuts for the other idols.
