So many groups this past year. BEAST reminds me of a younger and gayer version of BIGBANG.

Just saying.

BEAST sound like they're a bunch of 14 year olds. The only one who interests me is Gi Kwang because he's awesome.

MBLAQ is waaaay better. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wheely:' />

You act like this is a bad thing...? 8o I got kind of tired of all of Big Bang's posturing, particularly since G-Dragon has been so successful with his solo career lately, I dunno.

And Momusu doesn't? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hawhaw.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

MBLAQ does have the added bonus of Lee Joon, who is a sexy motherfucker, and... ok, all-around more attractive members who rap better and probably sing better and probably dance better. But I don't give a fuck, B2ST are totally precious. 8o

I feel like I should throw some lesser-known stuff at you guys, but I have no idea where to start.

There's a substantial k-indie subculture, lots of soft acoustic business, an assload of hip-hop/r&b, and some other stuff that falls in-between genres, like this gem featuring my fabulous bb Jo Kwon.

I dunno, what is everyone interested in? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':fuuu:' /> I could pimp Korean music until my fingers fall off.

2PM's new song is REALLY good. Granted, it's got major auto-tune, but it's so addicting. I think I like the verses more than the chorus, which is very unusual for a song. It's almost as addicting as Park Bom's "You and I" for me right now. (The latter, however, I can't get out of my brain. It's so addicting.) I didn't get into 2PM much prior Jay scandal (Again and Again is okay, but not my favorite.) and I know there's a lot of speculation going around about whether or not he's coming, and if the song is referring to him, but either way, I'm loving the new song. I'm excited to see the dancing, too.

Has anyone been listening to the soundtrack from You're Beautiful? It's a current drama airing right now about a fictional band called A.N Jell. It's got the lead from F.T Island, what's his name...Hongki or something? I forget. Either way their songs are really pretty. I love Jang Geun Suk's voice . . . and him in general. The song "Without words" is really pretty too.

I'm really tired of the 2PM & TVXQ drama :glare:

Well, the TVXQ issue does seem serious, in so far as their future isn't really crystal clear right now...

But I hate how it's being dragged out and injected with small things that are blown up as if they really have any serious impact on the case overall.

...Also, f(x)'s Chu~ is very nice.

Much nicer than LA chA TA, especially.

Amber seems much less out of place in it than she did in LA chA TA and Chocolate Love. Still kinda sticks out, just not as badly. And it's got a SICK BEAT YO.

Did sonim/sonin from the group Tomboy make some really good songs alone ?

I really dig her "nyaahaahaahaa" in Superstar, it kills me.

EDIT:

Oh, and she is ridiculously hot.

She's released a handful of singles, but it's been awhile since she's done any music solo. See her wikipedia page for more titles. Personally, Curry Rice no Onna, Tsugaru Kaikyou, and Jigsaw Puzzle were my favorites from her.

2PM's newest single, Heartbeat been released! It didn't quite grab me from the beginning, but once the singing starts, I find myself getting a lot more into it. I'm sure after a few more listens, it'll grow on me. Looking forward to the music video.

JYP really trolled (irony, since he looks so much like one) 2PM fans really hard on this one.

1:59PM was the fan nickname for 2PM without Jaebum... and what does he go and name the album? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /lmfao.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /> Needless to say, the k-fandom is Not Pleased with this development. The thread on Omona (... er, it's like allkpop, but on LJ and more intelligent) has already hit over 1000 comments, and it was only announced a few hours ago. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /ph34r.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':dammit:' /> Plus, 2PM fans (called "Hottests") are kind of insane, a lovely little shitstorm is brewing... <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /weeeh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

A translation of the DBSK contracts came out today, as well. Shit is absolutely RIDICULOUS. Read it here - it isn't too long. They weren't kidding about slave contracts...

In other news! SS501 and U-KISS both came out with two good songs recently. I'm glad SS501 is getting some exposure outside of being That Band With Ji Hoo from Boys Over Flowers In It, and U-KISS... has a very interesting song. Brave Brothers are yet again responsible for this one, and it's kind of like a slightly inferior Abracadabra by dudes. I'm digging it, even if it's ridiculously heavy on the auto-tune.

Whooooa. I'd hesitate to call them contracts at all. Normally I'd call them idiots for agreeing to such a thing, but I'm sure the hunger of fame lets the companies to whatever the heck they want to them. Poor kids. No wonder there's been so many crossovers. That's the only way they can make money.

Yeah, I had to do a double take when I saw the album cover. Perhaps JYP meant the name as an acknowledgement of sorts for the fans, but I can see how it could come across as rubbing the absence of Jay in their faces instead. And yes, Hottests are totally crazy. Jay's probably safer in Seattle.

That contract is ridiculous. I wonder if Super Junior and SNSD have the same contracts, because if they do, that really sucks for them. That measly percentage divided by 13 or 9 members results in peanuts for each individual, and that's only if if they sell more than 50K.

The DBSK contract is CRAAAZY. That shit would be illegal in the US, wouldn't it?

Anyway, the 2PM album is crazy good. I don't think I hear much Jaebeom on tracks, though. Oh damn. I just got to All Night Long... XD Taec, boy, you crazy.

But yeah, the album is REALLY good. The new tracks sound really original and nothing that is in KPop these days. I love it. My only complaint is that 10/10 really doesn't fit in with the rest of the tracks and they didn't give us a ballad version of Tired of Waiting. :/

Wait, does Clause 11 Part 3 say that even if they contract is terminated you're still bound by the contract? I'm SO CONFUSED.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but basically Clause 11, subclause 3 says that if SM and their artists both agree to terminate the contract, the artist needs to pay back SM three times what they invested in them and two times what they estimate they would have made over the future years had they not terminated the contract.

So in short, they can break the contract, but they'll have to cough up a ridiculous amount of money they probably don't have because they're locked into a shitty contract.

EDIT: 2PM's Heartbeat MV is out. Needs more closeups and less ponytails.

Taeyang's "Wedding Dress" MV and single were released! What's with Korean boybands and their "My ex is marrying someone else and I'm gonna be there and torture myself" vids? (DBSK comes to mind also!) Well, granted the Japanese had to do a whole TV series about it (YamaP's "Proposal Daisakusen"). Anyway, cool song, and I love the dancing in it.

I usually hate the SHIT out of K-Pop and can't stand listening to most of it for more than 20 seconds or so, but fuck if Sign isn't one of the best songs ever. It doesn't really sound like any music I've heard before and it's awesomeee. I have a feeling listening to the mp3 won't be nearly as fun as watching performances, though. It's been a while since I've seen a performance where the singers are completely stoic without looking like they have really bad diarrhea. Really cool. Brown Eyed Girls get a pass from me. I think they need to calm down with the chick that does nothing but rap intervals, though. Is that a K-Pop staple or something?

How 'bout some greatest hits from that contract?
(B is Tohoshinki, A is SM)

6. 'B' must, when 'A' wants, produce two full albums every year, and perform all recordings and activities accordingly

9. 'A' is allowed to use any lyrics, compositions or arrangements that 'B' made in any album 'A' is creating other than the album of 'B'.

2. 'B' must pay compensation that is worth three times the amount of investment (any money used for the purpose of 'B') and twice the predicted profit that would be gained in the years had the contract not been terminated.

3. Even if a termination of the contract is agreed upon by both 'A' and 'B', 'B' must still adhere to subclause 2. (above)

5. Between the time of the contract's termination and six months before said termination, 'B' must release one new album (recorded) that 'A' asks for, and perform activities for P.R. for said album (six months).

IU - Gee + Lies + Sorry Sorry, Boo + you know

Her new new song is too adorable, she kinda changed her style and became more cutesy rather than the serious image she had before, but I really like it.

I LIKE THIS NOOB. LET'S KEEP HER. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... umbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cake:' /> SJT is the shit. I will make a sequin tuxedo someday. (ahhh, Kangin, I miss you... <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... pyeyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cake:' /> )

After School (the group that did that ehhhh cover of Love Machine, actually a very gorgeous girl group who's a lot like MM in the "rotation, adding members" aspect) has a new single out soon. I don't care much for the single, it's not very remarkable, but the c/w is actually really pretty. Acoustic-y R&B, definitely worth a listen. The MV for the title track should be out soon, but... like I said, I like the c/w better, soooo.. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... stling.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':noway:' />
