[Happy!Style] YuiKaori Debut Single, "Our Steady Boy"

YuiKaori is made up of Ogura Yui and Ishihara Kaori. They are both in Happy!Style (which is also home to Noto Arisa and Sina.) And they are also part of Team Dekaris. They released their debut single, Our Steady Boy, which comes out tomorrow 5/12. It's the ending to the anime KissxSis.

Those blue and pink outfits are super cute, but that's pretty much all I'm liking from this unit. The Pink Outfit Girl's voice is really grating, and it totally overwhelms the duet parts. She reminds me of listening to a theme song done for some young child anime character, like Chibi Usa or something. The song itself is kind of catchy, but the vocals are killing it for me.

I don't know who they are, but they're pretty cute and I like the song too. Does anyone else also think that the girl in pink kind of looks like Maeda Yuuka in some parts of the PV? If you watch the anime ending, it might not be so grating?



I find it very difficult to put voices to face if they have what I call, a character voice. For example, the first time I saw Aya Hirano speak shocked me. It's hard to imagine a creepy voice coming out of such a person. D:

Yeah, gotta say I'm not feeling the vocals either. Same reason I have trouble getting into S/mileage - I have nothing against high voices, as a matter of fact my favorite voice in H!P right now is Kamei Eri and her voice is one of the squeakiest in Hello!Project. But I've never been a fan of that babyish seiyuu tone a lot of idols try to sing with.



That aside, they're very cute and have fountains more charisma than a lot of the current H!P members. I am intrigued, even if I can't stand their voices, haha.

From wiki - Kiss×sis's story begins with Keita Suminoe, a male third-year junior-high school student studying for his high school entrance exams. Honestly, it bothers me more than it would some people since I've always had a fascination with sexism in Japanese culture and the lolita complex. One day I got in a research-y mood and spent hours reading on the topic and ever since then it's been one of Japan's weird quirks/flaws that I'm very intrigued by. I think it'd be creepy to most people, but it becomes even weirder when you realize all the tiny little cultural nuances that make it so.



Like I said in the thread on H!O... it's different when pictures like this are taken in a country that didn't outlaw child porn until 1999. I love ya Japan, your culture endlessly fascinates me, but you've got some growing to do on this one.



I really don't want one of Tsunku's projects to pander THIS much to the lolicon otaku crowd. They've always pandered to it somewhat (the cosplay, some of the things they do on shows, the entire moe image) H!P may not sell like AKB48, but at least it doesn't leave such a bad taste in my mouth. God, you guys are a bunch of haters. The A-side of their single is one of the best written pop songs of this entire year hands-down. I can't wait to see what they do in the future. And I honestly can't believe people are freaking out about those fucking pictures.
