Morning Musume to become Muten Musume

A new song by idol group Morning Musume has been revealed as a promotional tie-in with the Kansai-based kaiten sushi chain Muten Kura-Zushi. The tune, called "Appare Kaiten Zushi!," has been playing in the chain's stores since August 13, and many customers have been curiously asking about it.



The sushi-themed song is actually sung by the group "Muten Musume," which is now officially confirmed to be all eight current members of Morning Musume. A CD release has been scheduled for October 27.



The project started at the beginning of this year, when Muten Kura-Zushi requested a song from producer Tsunku (41). Tsunku agreed, and he chose Morning Musume to perform it. Each of the members was also turned into an illustrated character (see image gallery), and animated versions will appear on the Muten Kura-Zushi website, as well as in karaoke clips.

Though I can understand why they didn't want this as a graduation song for 3 of the members. Last time they did that was with Kaori, which was wrong on so many levels. (Manpower, really?)



I hope this promotional single works in favor of their November single.

It's the name of the Sushi place. The only other place I've heard it is Muten Roshi (Master Roshi) from Dragonball. Dunno if it's written the same way though. Japanese and their crazy language.

Well, I have mix feeling about Appare! is being used as a promotional tie in and not the 44th single. But at least we get an extra single with Eri and the pandas before they leave. I'm getting it Appare! kinda sounds like something Yazima Beauty Salon would do. Hopefully the actual 44th single won't be something repetitive like Seishun Collection.

Oh yeah, there seems to be a LQ recording out. I'll update the OP, but here's a link!. Yeah, it does have a YBS funky sound to it. It's got the same type of retro sound as Seishun Oden (BETTA GET THIS REFERENCE). Lots of brass and organ make it sound pretty surfer-ish.

JunJun and Sayumi are the only ones I would have been able to pick out if the names hadn't have been written in, since they actually fit with some sort of quirk/personality trait each girl has. The others are just sort of generic with names slapped on. The hair on the one that's supposed to be Eri looks way too long. Oh well, still cute. And I love the real life outfits, best "theme" costumes in a while.

On the fence on how much I like it. It's silly/wacky which is some of the MM I miss. But the last single it makes me feel like is Chokkan? In terms of how embarrassed I was to admit to someone I liked it.

Keep in mind that they aren't promoting this as an actual Morning Musume single, it's "Muten Musume".

It seems like when Aya couldn't get anything fast or catchy under her own name, but she still had releases under Ayayamu, GAM & Kirin beverage whore.



So you might be able to take comfort in the idea that the goofy song is being presented first, and the actual 44th single will probably have a different sound. I like the song, the ending is very nice.

Personally, I found the song's ending to be pretty crap. I see what they were going for, but it didn't work for me. Slow strings that get progressively less and less exciting? It was like a Ferrari abruptly transforming into a Trabant.



I thought that the song overall was pretty good, though, especially the bass-line and the "WAO!"s. On the other hand, I'm hoping that the silliness is just a one-off, because I've been liking Mature!Musume. I'm already worried that Tsunku won't go continue down that route after the 44th single, considering that the new members will likely be pretty young. 12-year-olds would seem really incongruous in a more serious, mature song.



I'm expecting a good PV, though. Those chibis have endless potential.
