Morning Musume Fall 2010 Rival Survival

Post by alita87 »

No thread about it so thought I would post one. Went to see the second day show in Kanagawa last weekend. Just put a concert report up at my journal here.

Until this weekend's concerts the set list is as of yet unclear. There was a set list for the first day, which many like me went in expecting to see on the second day. Then a half-different set list was performed. As of now they are being called A and B patten, I guess we will see this weekend if that is all. And if it is only two they better alternate the dates. I am going to 3 more shows (2 def, one being the "graduation", and then need to get a ticket for Yokohama) but due to work they all happen to be on Sundays, so if it is a two pattern with the one on Sunday then I will never see the other. And I so wanted to see JunLin do Rainbow Pink.

Best phrase to describe this concert: Holy shit are those military uniforms ala Wonder Girls/SNSD/Other korean girl groups!? They are... wow that is hot.

Some other reports made it sound like there was an afternoon setlist, and then an evening one. Maybe it's just that they have two that alternate between days? I'm kind of hoping for the one that was originally called "Afternoon" for the Fukuoka show I'm going to, but there's some awesome choices in this one as well.

To clarify from your report - Rairai! Shinfu (the JunLin duet) was a Goto Maki song, and Yuugure Sakusen Kaigi (Risa solo) was a Nacchi song. It's kind of nice that they're keeping those discographies alive, but they could have chosen better songs from both artists. =/

Yeah, I thought it was the afternoon/evening thing too until I realized that the set list I had looked at was an afternoon one.

Thanks for the clarification on the songs. I am sure I have heard them before at some point as both sounded slightly familiar but I couldn't place them at all. I did wonder why many people in the crowd seemed to know the chants for the Junlin one though, which now makes sense.

I am really hoping that I get to see the other set list as well. Also with the graduation concert having a special title I am sure there will be a few changes there as well. Overall not a set list I mind seeing again though ^^

Before the tour started, Tsunku's blog said (while adding in maniacal laughter) that the concert would have 2 types of solo medleys. Thus, he said, in all there are 4 variations. I guess he means that one solo medley may not always go with the other chunk of differences? Or I just suck at understanding Japanese.

To clarify the known differences (mostly for myself, which I cobbled from two SayuNii reports)
07. Solo Medley;

- Watashi no Miryoku ni Kizukanai Donkan Hito (Mitsui)

- Kira Kira Fuyu no Shiny G (Tanaka)

- Take off is now! (Takahashi, Niigaki, Tanaka) <-> It's You (Sayu)

- Rairai! Shinfu (Junjun, Linlin) <-> Rainbow Pink (Shige-Pink, Jun-Pink, Lin-Pink)

- Hare Ame Nochi Suki (Kamei, All) <-> Koi ING (Kamei, All)

- Ai Araba IT’S ALL RIGHT <-> Genki Pika Pika

11. Yuugure Sakusen Kaigi (Niigaki) <-> Suppin to Namida (Takahashi Ai)

13. Shabondama <-> Kimagure Princess

14. Ambitious! Yashinteki de ii Jan <-> Odore! Morning Curry

15. Sono Bamen de Bibiccha Ikenai Jan! <-> 3,2,1 BREAKIN’ OUT

16. Love & Peace! HERO ga Yattekita!! <-> Guru Guru Jump

Oh well, guess I'll see when I go on Sunday.

RaiRai Shinfu needed to be done at least once by that pair. It has counting in Mandarin and is about Chinese food. (plus Maki once performed it in a panda suit. I can't find the clip)

Also note, the very hated Osaka Umainen is missing from the concerts, so we definitely got the better outcome.

Oh wow, they apparently did a lot of Maki songs... live audio rec

First I'll put this so anyone interested will see. Some fans were collecting messages for the girls and told me they had a website so I could tell all my foreign friends.

So, foreign friends, if you want to leave a message for the graduating girls individually, these fans are going to print them out and give them to them. Here is the English form: http://www.geocities.jp/eri_jun_lin/index_e.html

As alita mentioned in her journal, the set looked pretty cool. It was cool enough just walking into the venue and seeing the visual of a sort of bombed-out/wilderness type of feeling with light smoke, combined with slightly-foreboding/slightly-triumphant orchestral music while waiting for the show to start. It would have gotten an A in my college scene design class (ok, well it was difficult to not get an A, but the theatre majors sure did try their hardest to fail). The marching-style of dancing in the opening lead-in to Souda was pretty awesome, and the whole thing had a cool feeling from the first two songs to the opening video. After that, it did turn into a more normal idol concert, but I commend the director.

When's the last time the solo shirts didn't have the girls' name on them or "Morning Musume" or anything? I didn't notice on the super-tiny pictures on the website, but under the girl's initial is a "serial number" which is her birthday. Oh, there it is, it has the tour stencil logo really tiny on the back left of the shirt.

We should pin this info somewhere and become one of their affiliates or something. It would be nice to have a lot of BBSers participate.

Did they have a big sign or something at the venue you went to? I wonder if they'll have people collecting messages all the way out in Fukuoka. It would be kind of nice to turn in a handwritten message, it seems more personal. Though it wouldn't be hard to just scan one in, either.

It was two people walking around with signs attached to their bodies. But they found me. The message-card people always do.

I'll leave a message later, but I like the idea of this.

I'd do something handwritten but I'm not in Japan and I don't trust the mail enough to send it to someone to give it to them. (Plus; I doubt you guys like me enough to give addresses.)

I wouldn't mind taking yours if you could learn to trust the post office and could get it to me by mid-October (I'm in the U.S.) xD But otherwise, you could always take it to a kinkos to scan if you don't have a scanner. If you really wanted the handwriting, that is <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Actually, that offer goes to anyone on the BBS that wants handwritten messages taken and/or doesn't have a scanner. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

The DVD of this concert came out and I've reviewed it on my blog. It's an odd spectacle, with way more time devoted to farewell letters, the graduation ceremony and last goodbyes than I've seen at any other MM graduation.

Here are some teasers:

As Alita declared in the first post here, re: the military drag in the opening number:
wow that is hot.

And for Sayumi fans...

There had better be a shit load of extras on the BluRay as it's just cost me 78 of your American dollars <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hatthe.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whatthe:' />.

I have the unedited DVD of the concert released if you bought it the day of the graduation and sent within 2010, so won't be getting the standard DVD. Do want the Blu-ray though. Guess it's time to plop down the money on a blu-ray player.

And they better include the raccoon/fox outfits that were the original encore outfits <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... umbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> They were adorable. Yet were only used for the first 3 weeks of the tour before Onna to Otoko was debuted.

Hey Madara, thanks as always for your reviews I always look forward to reading them.

HOWEVER...

I simply can't stand it when people state their opinion as fact, I won't quote you word for word, but you said something along the lines of ...

"It's FACT that buono! berryz Koubou and c-ute have been far better than MM for the last few years.... "

No no no, its your OPINION that they have been better, as much as I like the above groups, aside Buono! who do indeed kick ass with their live band, I don't think I could watch a full concert of the other two, I like their songs and I do buy the singles but these groups don't come anywhere close to 8th generation MM IMHO.

In fact you go on to say stuff about how awesome koharu, miki and yossi were... JEEZUS... those three made me stop liking MM for years until I heard about 8th generation and came back to liking them, even more so when the horse face witch got the boot <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nceman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':danceman:' />

Anyway, I feel like I'm ranting now, but in future could you steer away from the "my opinion = fact" type of reviews.

For example, imagine the feeling you get when I say something like "I don't listen to anything BEFORE "Onna ni Sache Are" because to be honest, I really don't...

Different strokes for different folks ;)

As Alita declared in the first post here, re: the military drag in the opening number:
wow that is hot.

As for the costumes, I loved the military drag they came out in for the first two numbers.

I wouldn't mind a whole concert in these outfits, but they only did two songs in them.

I thought you hated those outfits? I only remember because I remember thinking it was weird you seemed so angry.

No, I was reacting to the circus outfits pictured here:

http://sayunii.wordpress.com/2010/08/31 ... -released/

...and wondering how anyone could confuse them with military outfits.

@Rob: Points well taken. Sometimes we need to be reminded that what seems obvious to us doesn't seem obvious to others. And vice versa. I'll keep it in mind. And I've revised the paragraph to make it less rant-provoking. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /angel.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
