Really, I don't want more members. The idea that with more girls, they would develop exciting personalities no longer works, especially in the current idol ecosystem. MM can (again) go against the grain and keep things small and create interesting people who can grow and become personalities. I have to say that that is something Koharu really pulled off successfully; she started off weird and embraced it and became...something to see.

I wouldn't pay much attention to skill level - that's not gonna tell you who will get in. Tsunku has a long history of picking the runt of the litter "just because". He also has a long history of passing up real talent in favor of said runt. I'm not really excited for any of these girls. They all look like they'd fit in great. . . in S/mileage.

Awww! She's cute and her voice is ok. It's cute, but not too cutesy so that it will not mesh will with the current MM.

And I really like the girl who looks like a mix of Koharu and PeiPei. She's kind of unsure of herself and awkward, but I know she would come out of her shell in time. I want her in!

I have a feeling that if they pick any of them, it'll be those very first two we saw on the episode. The one in black definitely had an "ace" vibe, while the one in the blue sweats that was getting bitched out had a bit of that hopeless ugly duckling vibe Tsunku and company likes.



Also, I think it would be hilarious if they stuck Mano in the group since not only does she need others do distract people away from her performance, it would be awesome to see Sayumi's reaction to sticking another girl that people get confused with her in the group.

I'm so looking forward to the audition special. Nothing says 'cheer me on' like little girls bawling their eyes out while being bashed by dance/voice instructors. The contestants seem alright so far. Maybe they didn't show more contestants because they didn't like that the leftovers from previous auditions went to AKB.



I'd feel bad for Mano if she got put into Morning Musume. While her singing career isn't taking off, her acting seems to be going alright with the guest roles in dramas she got this season (SPEC and Face Maker). I'm all for Kikkawa or some other eggs joining. It just seems like a waste not to and it could fill the age gap. They might not be in the running anymore though. I guess we'll see next week.

I highly doubt Mano's going to be put in Morning Musume. Her single comes out 1/26, and I'm sure the winners will be announced before then. Having a single after being put into a group would be weird.　Her singing career isn't taking off and it never will, but at this point it's not like it's crashing. They've reached a simple equilibrium with perhaps only a slight very gradual leaking of fans, but her wota are keeping her afloat. I don't think they'll mess with that at this point.

I'll never stop being butthurt over Kikkawa Yuu not being in Morning Musume. She was the only member of that Kirarin group that didn't sound like a goat, and that should have been enough of a hint for the management by now. That's not her blog. It seems to be a fan blog. It says her blog was canceled yesterday. Her blog and twitter all seem to have recently been deleted. They all said she was attached to Elegant Promotion, where she has also been deleted from as recently as a week ago.



So she must have left the previous agency for some reason. Oh, good. The ugly one.



She's 13, by the way. And her old blog said she idolizes AKB's Kojima Haruna. Judging from the background of her twitter and other blog entries, she is an idol fan.
