First of all...laughing on cue?! Idol emotions are faked?! NOOOO. And while they acted, Tsunku had an evil look on his face like "muhaha, tools to squeeze money from the fans."

Second of all, all of them are really cute and I'd be happy with any of them.

Eri#4 (I'm Eri #1 thank you very much) - I like her but feel like she's really typical of all the H!P idols right now: kind of shy, feminine, unassuming good girl. I think she's actually very pretty in an old fashioned way and she has a "look" already. However, she dances TERRIBLY and is just awkward all around.

Kanon #2 - Fun! I do not find her particularly "pretty" but she has a super cuteness that grows on me. Her acting bit showed she is outgoing and fun --even when singing-- and I laughed at the randomness of it. However, she lots all her confidence at the dance. Greatly uneven powers might lead to Risa level aggressive attention whoring <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> And I'm sorry to sound gross, but the wota might like her precocious endowments. Looks like Ogawa Saki, doesn't she? (I don't see ManoErina in her at all)

Riho - She oddly reminds me of Airi when she was younger -- maybe the shape of the eyes. She's a little too awesome in every single way (IN EVERY WAY) so I'm already sad that Tsunku won't choose her. I will prevent myself from loving her to avoid inevitable heart break. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ryalot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/wub.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ryalot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Mogi - Her awkwardness is reminiscent of...everyone that Tsunku tends to like (aka pathetic). She was so *pained* everywhere, while dancing, singing, anything. On one hand, I'm really tired of that schtick but...aww I kept cheering for her even though she only practiced in the car (what?). She's great wota-pity-bait and I'd like to feed her a cookie. Also she got tons of screen time. I guess she's memorable and thats what matters in a giant idol group? She kind of reminds me of Koharu in the mouth.

Otsuka Ai #2 - The lips! The messed up hair! I think she's cute but she is also incredibly forgettable. Is it just because of editing? I just forgot what she looked like and every time she popped up on screen, I just wondered who she was. Her energy is too low I think -and she never smiles! Even when dancing and even after Tsunku told her to smile while singing.

Erina: Kind of a mess. Underwhelming and presence. I wrote these while watching the videos and she just left no impression. And she can't sing well.

Kanon: Comedian-type?! Can we insta-accept her? Needs better dancing and more confidence. She needs voice work too, but that can be learned. Personality don't come easy or cheap. Is she a new Ogawa? We'll call her The Mole.

Riho: Great dancing. I like her. I know I didn't like her at all because she'd be obvious, but she's good. I like her hair too. She's got a good power to her presence. If she isn't picked, I just give up on H!P altogether. I will fully retreat to the Spam Threads from whence I came.

Minami: Only got here because of crying. No, no, no please. Kind of a awful mess. Cryed at the Tsunku sing portion for brownie points, but she's just bad whole-heartedly.

Aina: Ugly Aika. Only got here because they thought it would be Otsuka Ai. I don't like her face. She can kind of sing? She should be in C-ute. C-ute Jr. C-ut-E.

Add'l notes: what's with the laughing thing? Is it a warm up thing? An acting thing? Riho got it good with the crying thing. Riho dominated the Tsunku dance portion. Not so much the horse-tail one.

Wait, are they announcing the members at a concert?! FFFUUUU- It really needs to be Riho and Kanon. Just them. We will be fine with a 7-member MM.

If only C-ute had a new holiday song. That would make this whole thing bearable. What is that ending promotions song (before Aitai)? And what's that DVD with Aika?

I have to echo almost everything Eri said, those were basically my same feelings. The only girl I really dislike is Mogi, but sadly she's pretty much a shoe in given the recent trends in winners. I'm just hopeful that we get more than one member so I can have someone else to like while hating on her.

Something to loosen them up, I think.

A member of H!O translated the episode here. "Tsunku: Please think about the importance of the laugh test, wether you miss it or do it right. Don't let the energy of your faces go away. And while you're firmly laughing, please dance."

I've already said my piece on H!O about the auditions (mostly it was just telling the fans that they need to like, not be so overly-dramatic.....had to get through a bunch of crap just to get to a few intelligent posts)........but I'll say that and something more....

1. I don't see Riho in MM. She's too much of a solo act to be put in a group and work with others. That's why I don't think she'll be picked.....but then again I could be wrong.

2. I see Mogi in MM because I also think that she has some potential. To see how much she improved and she's quite hard on herself, forget other people yelling at her. My best friend was like that, she knew she screwed up and when someone else told her she would start crying......mostly because she was already telling herself how bad she was.........people like that are darned determined to make sure they do it right or better the next time.

3. The other girls just blend in for me...........

4. Morning Musume will continue to be Morning Musume after the auditions. They do not need an "ACE". They never needed an Ace or a Miracle.

Also, I don't see/hear any of the H!P members in these auditionees. I just see young girls wanting to fulfill a dream. If they make it, if they don't make it; it will not be catastrophic for me. Never has been, never will be.

That is a really good way of thinking about the auditions. Since we only question the girls individually, it is easy to forget that they need to be part of a big group.

What I get from these auditions is, the teachers try to pound it into these girls' heads that being an idol is hard work and professionalism -- not just being cute and famous 12 year olds. So, I sense that lots of the girls are chosen for their work ethic and not for just base talent.

Also, I don't think people are hating on Mogi for being less talented. I actually like her but feel tired of the same routine of "idol development."

I get the whole "picking people who can learn and grow," but why can't he pick someone with tactile talent? Riho is so talented right now and he'll ignore her, I'm sure, because she "won't be able to grow" or some such shit. She'll just be shipped off the the XKBs where she definitely won't need to grow. One thing that can be said of MM is that their members truly grow technically. They'll be able to sing, they'll be able to dance. If you get the technical crap out of the way, it'll be so much easier for these girls to gain character.

Not that Tsunku listens to me <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /noway.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cryalot:' />
EDIT: I wonder if any of these girls are going to C-ute. C-ute's also lacking in the member area, and it's a bit suspicious they're singing a C-ute song.
Because they chose a song that hadn't been released yet at the time, so the girls would have to learn an all new song and melody, instead one they already know, and C-ute's song is much easier for them to sing than "Onna to Otoko no Lullaby Game."

Well, Idols have to fake laugh and cry at a lot of stuff on TV shows, so he's seeing how well they can pull it off.

Yup same here. It's like Konkon, Koharu, and Aika all over again. Not that I have anything again Konkon, Koha, or Aika, I'd just like the to see the girl who's actually good at stuff get in, like Ai-chan.

EDIT: But I feel like my opinion of Mogi is changing. I could can see her in MM and becoming really cute in the future.

On the show they said the song hadn't been released yet, and that that was the first time the girls were hearing it.

The timeline does seem sort of skewed. It clearly said December, but maybe that's just when the Tsunku Test was, and all the training was before it. Either way, it's a good marketing ploy, making the viewers hear the song they happen to be currently promoting over and over.

Please, please let Riho in. She'll be the awkward member who never quite blends with the other girls because of her genius (AKA Maki), but in lieu of MM lacking hard talent right now, they could really use an Eri-replacement dancer and future Reina-replacement singer. She has both these qualities.

Kanon, Aina, and Erina are the others I'm somewhat partial to. Add all three of them to make me entirely happy, but please, please leave the Koharu 2.0 out... Ugly duckling crybaby has been done before. Having said that, I accept that she'll most likely be Miracle 2.0 and I'll just have to get over it.

OKAY I WATCHED BIJO GAKU HERE IS MY RANKING:

1. Suzuki Kanon - ADORABLE AMAZING BEAUTIFUL PERFECT STOMPING ALL OVER THE OTHER GIRLS ETC. My only fault with her is that she looks a little too much like ManoEri. Not that that's a fault in itself, just that having 2 girls who look really alike in H!P is kind of... redundant. But IDGAF. LOVE THE SHIT OUT OF HER. She's the only one who showed a definite personality, which is extremely rare in auditions. Her doing a skit in the 3rd audition, the goofy face she was making while singing about wanting to be with someone, being impolite to Tsunku, etc. She also learned the fuck out of that dance and song. I like her voice, too. She has a slightly annoying twang that they can get rid of, but I love her nonetheless.

2. Mogi Minami - FUCK ALL YALL HATERS. I LIKE this girl. She looked fug with her hair pulled back, but she was ADORABLE in the singing part. I get a very Konno-feel about her. Even if she fucked up the dance/singing lesson, she had everything down pretty well when she was doing it in front of Tsunku. I just think she needs polishing. Morning Musume IS about having the girls grow. I also really like her voice. She's not good, but I like the way it sounds. She'll be fine with training.

3. Sayashi Riho - She's not my favorite, but I think MM needs her. I find her to be very vanilla, but she has all of the idol basics down to a T. She's adorable, she can dance, she can sing. So she's the next ace that we were all craving to replace Takahashi. I don't really have anything else to say about her other than that. She's perfect. That's it.

4. Ootsuka Aina - Ummmmmmmmm. She was... there. I guess. They can't add her because people will just make Ootsuka Ai jokes. She's like Sayashi, but without being good at everything. I like her aloofness though?

5. Ikuta Erina - This bitch. I kind of want to punch her. Do not enjoy anything about her. Her voice is grating, and not in a cute way, she's not that cute to me, but looks like everyone else will find her adorable, and she just seems... really fake. And not in an entertaining way. The face she made at the camera while in the recording booth was... eugh. She can go be bland and basic elsewhere. Isn't she the one who likes AKB48? Yeah, she can go be bland and basic with Sumire and Kashiwagi. She's the only one I outright dislike.

All in all, I'm making these predictions: Tsunku is either adding my top 3, or adding them all. I say this because Tsunku and I are like-minded, and the 8th gen auditions matched my favorites then. It works out perfect, too. Have Kanon and Minami in JunLin's positions and Riho can take Eri's. Then after a few years Riho can take a lead spot, Kanon in sub-lead, and Minami can be Sayu/Konno forever I guess. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cryalot:' />

I really hated this audition process though. Way to waste all of the audition process and the final week of lodging footage by only making one episode with auditions. >:[ WE COULD HAVE BEEN WATCHING THE AUDITIONS INSTEAD OF WATCHING MANOERI READ PEOPLE'S PALMS DJASEWUAGUYAGDSUGHSAAJFHASKLHA YOU BITCHES. YOU BITCHES YOU BITCHES YOU BITCHES. I'm also not really sure how I feel about the results being announced at a concert either. I'm sure we'll get footage on Bijo Gaku after that, but still. :T I hope we actually get footage of the girls getting told if they're in or not, too. :<

ALSO TO ERI: http://imgur.com/PugB0.jpg THEY LOOK LIKE SISTERS.

In the first half, my thoughts went like so: like, like, like, like, ANNOYING

And second half:

KANON AND RIHO FO' LIFE.

If Mogi gets in he better add all other four girls too. Her face annoys me more than Koharu's face annoyed me. Her tears did not make me feel sorry for her, it made me want to slap her out of it. She's getting in, I know she is because I don't like her one bit and Tsunku and I aren't a good couple and he'll do exactly what I don't want. Out of 9000 girls, she got in?! HER? How many aces did you pass up for the runt this time Tsunku? HOW MANY!!!!!!

Okay, okay, as much as I don't like Mogi/I keep wanting to call her Mugi/ I wouldn't mind if he added all 5 girls. I kinda like Mogi's voice so that can redeem her fug and bawwwwww, and the other girls all have a charm I like. Well, wait, except Aina. I don't have an impression of her and don't feel one way or the other. Boring!

I don't really have strong thoughts on any of them that haven't already been said, except for Mogi: she doesn't seem emotionally prepared for this, maturity-wise.

She's fucking 11 years old. (And don't you dare pull the KagoTsuji card on me, those two practically cartwheeled out of the womb.) Like, of course she's a crybaby, she's 11 years old. It's not going to help to throw her in a group of girls 6-13 (oh hey, they can pull out the Yuko shtick again) years older than her, and with anywhere from 3-9 more years of experience. Ok ok, they're likely to add in more than one girl from this audition, but all the other girls at least seem somewhat more prepared to handle the stresses of being an idol.

I know Tsunku probably thinks she's akin to an adorable little kitten drowning in a well, but she's just so young and so seemingly ill-prepared for this. Maybe if they stuck her in C-ute? They could use a new baby to dote on now that Maimai's gotten all awkward-looking.

edit: GET UP! RAPPER omg i haven't heard that in years, sudden wave of love~!!1

edit2: for a 12-year-old girl, Suzuki Kanon's got a decent pair of knockers on her. Kago syndrome?

edit3: I don't think Riho's problem is being too cookie-cutter. I think she just... appears really confident? Understandably, since she seems to have a big leg up on most of the competition. ... well, you'd THINK, except for the fact that Tsunku picks the winners via reading tea leaves/based on his horoscope/playing pin the tail on the next Musume.

No kidding. In any other competition, Riho would win hands down. Here, I almost think it's a liability. You're too cute! Too talented at dancing! Too able to calmly take criticism and practice solemnly to improve!

That aside, none of them are a travesty to me, which is a first. I wouldn't mind having all five get in.

I'd be pretty mad if he passed up Riho, though. Which means he will.

Is it just me or are the girls not the only one wearing make up cough--cough.

My thoughts, all 5 will end up in H!P, proably all 5 in MM.

From this brief introduction they all seem OK, quite cute and varying levels of talent but what's new there. At the moment I'm reserving judgement until I see all or some in MM but I still think they are too young.

Dun dun dun Miracle-chan 2.0. This shit is exactly why she's going to get in, because once they fix her eyebrows and slap some makeup on her face, she'll be perfect. And look even more like Koharu.

Suprisingly I like most of them, except Mogi. She just seems too weak all around and with all that crying I doubt if she will be able to survive in the big bad world of idoling. I actually wouldn't mind seeing Erina, Kanon, Aina and Riho added. Especially Riho and Kanon. But knowing Tsunku he will probably declare Mogi a miracle and add her, causing Kanon and Riho to fly off to AKB48.

Man, the Mogi hate. Her name is MOGI, it's an awesome name, come on. I have to disagree with all the clamoring of "fug" for her. I mean she's certainly not pretty, but I can't find her ugly. I found her to be kind of adorable, but I'm sure that's just something wrong with me. But she was cute in the Tsunku Test portion. As for her being too crybaby, while she faltered during the singing portion, she certainly didn't fail the dancing part of the Tsunku Test. Just because she cries in three seconds of audition footage doesn't mean she was crying for the entire two-month audition process. Certainly she's clearly a fragile girl, but I don't think it makes her unable to handle being an idol. If she's the next Konno or Aika, that's awesome because they're awesome. If I wanted a perfect idol, I'd go watch 70s idols. The post-modern idol is a far different beast. She's not even the ugly one, here's the ugly one:

I circled the part that offends me most. Of course by marking it up, I actually improved her by blocking part of it out. God, the way she fake smiles during her dance only makes the dismembered chin more noticeable. Yeah, this is shallow, but I'll never not see that part of her face. It's not just that, it's her whole head area. If she does make it, I would hope there's someone else added (any of the other 4 is fine). But she's also the one who left her previous agency last week, so the giraffe's in, baby! Maybe she's a funny girl. We can hope.

In short, I agree with everything Trike said, except I'm less positive than he is about who will make it. By the way, we'll certainly get footage of them being told, since the next episode is called the big decision special. I wonder if they're gonna tell them on stage in front of everyone.

Because I'm attracted to underdogs <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':danceman:' />. Also I think she could grow quite alot and that what I like to see in MM rather than someone coming in thinking they got it all.

That's not going to help MM though.

What's your point? Do you mean help them in talent or in perception? Adding the best girls won't help them either. They are already a talented group of individuals. Morning Musume is Morning Musume and the return on adding Riho vs. any other girls is negligible in the grand scheme of perception. Adding any combination of these girls or any eggs will not return Morning Musume to the glory days in the public's eyes. On the other hand it's ridiculous to believe that adding Mogi to the group absolutely dooms the group because we've judged her to be an untalented crybaby based on an incredibly short audition clip. I guess adding her alone would be a bit of a problem and may cause many wota to give up (based on the reactions of the wota in this thread and because they'll need someone to be talented such as Riho when the old grannies leave), but adding her in with everyone like Bonkyu suggested would certainly not kill the group any more than its natural decline, especially since some fans seem to clearly like what she might potentially bring to a group dynamic.

People talk about how Tsunku must regret passing on Sumire and Yuki or whoever; but, the thing is, if he hadn't passed on them, AKB would be popular without them. It's not like they're the ones who made their later group popular.
