Maki's problem wasn't that she went solo too soon, it's that her bosses never carved out a focused image for her. Each single brought a different image, and she never seemed comfortable because of that.

Afurechau... Be in Love - wanna-be Jessica Simpson in sound, appearance, dance.

Te o Nigitte Arukitai - super duper cutesy image change with cartoonish video, cover, and childrens TV song melody. Children dance behind her. Wtf?

Yaruki! It's Easy - Less cutesy but still childish, with almost cosplay like clothes and singing in a key meant for anime

Sans Toi m'Amie - suddenly, sexy race girl ...but singing a mature, classic song

Uwasa no Sexy Guy - full on cosplay and embarassingly sexy costume

Scramble - cute normal upbeat idol song in cute normal clothes. Why can't we have gotten more of this??

Daite Yo Go On - this reminds me the most of Afurechau. High powered 90's-style dance with wind machine.



She only really settled into her image around 3rd station but then she up and left soon after.



And yeah, thread hijack. I love her singing this song - she had a beautiful voice.

That's why I always thought she needed to be in the public eye in morning musume longer so that she was a bit more accepted as a singer.

You know...the ages aren't actually that weird in MM after all.

Well I guess its because there's a lot of difference between a 13 year-old vs a 18 year-old, more than a 18 year-old vs a 25-year old.

But Aika is about 7 years apart from Ai, 5 from Risa, and 4 from Sayu and Reina, but only 5 years apart from Zukki and Riho, 4 from Erina, and 3 from Fuku-chan.

So it kinda balances out...?

Actually, as Mizuki was flipping through I saw the first few pages from the Second Morning album so I assume they are the lyric books printed out so they don't have to keep referring back to the CD booklets themselves.



Why not just give them word document versions? They must have the lyrics on file somewhere. If not, someone should link them to Project Hello!

I missed this place. I may not have the guts or the snark in me like so many people here have, but I sure enjoy being a part of it if only as a spectator.



That being said, Erina is just so awkward. Like, I cringe every time I see her. Yet, it's that shy look that makes me want to cheer for her more, you know? Be the girl that suddenly changes into something amazing and shiny and outgoing and lovely. When the 5 nominees from the audition were announced, I cheered for Erina (and Riho) and I disliked Kanon.

But now that they had their first stage experience, I feel the other way around. I don't remember seeing Erina look so scared in the auditions.

Eh, some valuable MM members have started out very awkward in front of cameras (Eri comes to mind, as well as Koharu). Give her time. She's pretty obviously the shyest of the bunch, the shrinking violet, the Konkon. I'm not a big fan of that kind of character, but it can be cute sometimes.

I love Erina for some reason. She doesn't seem scared to me...just, very reserved and shy. I think the four of them balance each other out very well.

The thing is Erina looked pretty cute in her modeling pictures, but then she gets put in front of a camera for MM and looks like a deer in the headlights. She should be used to it. Hopefully she didn't bring that awkward face to the photo shoot with all 9 girls they had yesterday.

I'm finding Kanon to be like the cutest thing ever in 9th gen though her smile is ADORABLE. Mizuki is doing shy the right way, like Eri. Riho is still as adorable as she was in the auditions.

I tend to like the underdogs by default, hence why I love me some Aika, and look at her now being all cool.

Yeah, give her a break. Just because she was picked up by a modeling agency doesn't mean that she's done much work -- it just means that the agency saw potential in her. Someone here compared her to a beautiful SeraMyu actress... I think she'll grow into her looks just fine.

The Maki/Ai/Reina (I'm a diva, bitches) - Riho

The Konkon/Rika (Moeblob) - Erina and Mizuki

The Mako/Risa/Mari (GENKI DESU KAAAA! USO!) - Kanon



They could all become annoying (Reina, Risa) or awesome (Maki, Rika).
