I'm surprised no one's in this thread with how huge Super Junior is.

Weeell, since they're the only Korean group I actually know enough about (and I kind of love the shit out of them), I'm all over this thread. I love them all for different reasons, but Yesung is my consistent favorite, I think. He's the cutest thing since cute was invented.

Oh, and I think it's safe to say Han Geng is officially out of the group rather than on hiatus at this point.

Most of what I know Super Junior from is variety shows with Leeteuk and the we got married with Kangin (which was hilarious).

I like some of the music from them that I've heard, but haven't really ever gotten into them hardcore or anything. I a few singles from them but that's about it other than random youtube listening.

Despite myself, I'm a pretty big fan of some of SuJu's music (it helps that they tend to have a SNSD member in all their music videos <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> ), but I especially love them whenever any of them appear on variety shows. They're hilarious guests. LeeTeuk is my favorite, Heechul is also really funny and Kangin is probably my favorite as far as vocals go.

Cooking? Cooking! is so good. Sunny can cook inedible stuff for me any day. >:3 (Bonus points for the "cooking with my eyes closed" dance.) It's cool that Super Junior uses their fame to branch out and do different things--Happy's concept seems to be a kind of retro pop music (as opposed to all the techno dance club stuff that's been going around recently). Pajama Party is really cute too.

I have their two most recent CDs Bonamana and Sorry Sorry if anyone's interested in song recommendations or anything. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I don't know too much about Don't Don other than the title track and I haven't heard their first (mini?) album TWINS at all, so I'll be super unhelpful when it comes to those.

I was pretty indifferent to them as a whole until I heard Sorry Sorry - Answer by total accident. Having grown up on old-school R&B and soul music, this song was vastly different from anything I'd ever heard out of Asia. The same way Utada Hikaru appealed to my fledgling interest in Jpop because her music had a much more familiar sound than other Japanese artists, Super Junior appealed to me for sounding pretty damn amazing (increasingly rare in other parts of the world, it seems) and having great familiarity with songs my parents listened to when I was growing up. /fangirl promotion

I'm probably in the minority on this board for liking things reminiscent to American music, but as /// pointed out, they have plenty of fun songs too if anyone's more into that.

And yes, SuJu in a variety show often makes it amazing. I've only seen Exploration of the Human Body (awesome show--recommended to anyone even if you could care less about SuJu), Adonis Camp, and bits of others, but standard variety shows like Strong Heart are made better with more Super Junior too. The only time I've seen them not contribute much to a show was with a few episodes of Star King, but that show bores me to tears anyway, so maybe that's it.

Well Star King doesn't really ever focus on the celeb guests that much anyway, so that's understandable.

I liked Knockout and I have the Twins cd on my Zune still, but never really listened to much else from them other than youtube. I would go listen to some of their stuff right now but I'm still too busy listening to 2ne1's new album. Can't get that shit out of my head.

Yeah, I understand, but it bores me besides that too. The SJ boys contribute from time to time in episodes I've seen, but the material of the show has so far been boring to me with a few glimpses of someone on there worth paying attention to.

Maybe on that note I should finally pay attention to 2NE1. Honestly, Fire did nothing for me and maybe all the hype of their being edgy left me disappointed enough to not delve deeper. The Korean version of edgy just doesn't seem very... well, edgy, I guess.

2ne1 is just good RnB and electro music. Their new album has a lot of autotune, but it's meant for effect and not for fixing shitty voices. They don't use it when it doesn't do something that improves the music. (imo) It's great music to just walk on a city path or something and listen to it. I'm a sucker for a good beat <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Yeah, this track was utterly awesome. I think I fell for them during the Sorry Sorry era, I totally love that song. Of course it helps that SNSD and IU performed covers of it! Bonamama is really good too, though I never quite loved it like Sorry Sorry.

The dance-off of SNSD vs. SuJu was a selling point for me as well, since I was already a SNSD fan, but I had to admit that SuJu did a better (and funnier) job. (Sadly the audio of the HD version is horribly out of sync, and this grainy version is the only other one I can find on youtube.)

I listened to their new song, Can't Nobody, last night since I also am a huge fan of electronica, but while I loved the song and their whole image in it, I'm still disappointed that they don't have a heavier electronica sound. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Oh well, they are different for all that's worth and are like a more awesome version of Big Bang. Hearing over and over that they're the female Big Bang was a turnoff for a while since I also don't care much for Big Bang to begin with, so the cards have been stacked against them for a while. But I'm left with an overall good impression and I think they'll grow on me. Hopefully the edginess I saw in Can't Nobody will stay since other edgy Korean groups had to go more mainstream.

Oh yeah, I love that clip! Eeteuk's Genie leg dance was the best. I think the Suju guys tend to be better dances than SNSD, but nobody does that leg move better than the Soshi girls.

Bonamana's grown on me, but to be honest, I hated Sorry Sorry the first time I heard it. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... R#>/XD.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hitit:' /> Mostly because I heard the Answer version first and then went looking for the Answer version, found the original and closed it in horror. I had no clue Answer wasn't the original and thought the dance one was just an annoying attempt at another, more mainstream version. Also Yesung became my favorite because of that song (when I eventually found out that was his voice at the very beginning singing the amazing adlib).

Listen to Nan Bappa from their new album, it's a lot more of the electronic sound I was talking about. It's probably my favorite song on the album because the chorus is addicting and the bass in it is reminiscent of Benny Benassi.

Woah, we have a Super Junior thread? o.o

Time for some new stuff.

Super Junior just released a song called Angel the other day. It's a track for a drama.

Angel

That Angel track is pretty cool, usually those drama tracks are just ballads so I was a bit surprised that this was like a midtempo anthem-type song? Cool stuff anyway.

The other day I came across this by accident while searching for Heechul stuff: Super Junior - GEE. When I say "Hee", you say "Ssica"! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cryalot:' />

An All Super Junior version of Gee at their concert! I have some... interesting pictures of Heechul from the Super Show 2 concerts. Just google image "Heesica" and you'll get an idea.

ex: Image

"Lady Heehee" has been his new crossdressing gig for the most recent round of concerts, again google image it.

Uhhhh. Let's see, I might be mildly obsessed with Zhou Mi, the oft-rejected other Chinese member who's only technically speaking a member of Super Junior M. A short little clip of him talking with Kyuhyun and being a radiant ball of sunshine and gay. I've been watching a show he's been hosting called Korean Impressions that's completely in Chinese... unsubbed, so I don't understand much, but goddamn is he just adorable to watch.

Kyuhyun has a couple new ballad-y tracks out I think? I'm not sure how new, but I was streaming Korean radio and a song of his came on. I'm a bad fan, I can't remember what the song was from.

Is it from the drama Bakers King? I'm pretty sure Kyuhyun sang an OST for that drama <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cryalot:' />

Hmm for me my favorite member is Yesung because his vocal ability is amazing and is very funny in variety shows when he's given the chance too be (watch Shin PD guys it's really funny <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D/' />

Fuck yeah, another Yesung fan. Internet highfives all around.

It took me an eternity and a day, but I got around to downloading their new album and hearing this Nan Bappa song. It's heavier electronica but still not quite in the vein of Utada Hikaru electronica which is my admitted standard bias when it comes to comparing quality of electronica music. But the Apa (Slow) song that comes after it was very nice in my opinion. I usually take a few listens to warm up to anything, and it's usually only good if it keeps my attention in the future without burning out, so I anticipate good things from this album when I get around to hearing it in full. Hell, it took me repeated listens of the same Morning Musume songs throughout the years for me to even stomach the group. Now some of those most hated songs are my favorites and the ones I loved to death when I first got into them are my least favorites. Easy come, easy go.

So around last year Han Geng filed a lawsuit against SM entertainment to terminate his contract because it he considered it unlawful. Yesterday the court ruled in his favor.

So yay he won the lawsuit. Though I guess that means his contract is going to be officially terminated now? Unless SM ent wins the appeal but I'm not quite sure what would happen after that :/ .

In SJ news, Super Junior-M have released a new single, and the MV is out. The single is called Tai Wanmei.

It's all sorts of awesome, if you can look past the furry hats that look like dead animals. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... wheely.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wheely:' />

The new SJ-M lineup is as follows now that Han Geng is gone.

Zhou Mi (Leader), Donghae, Siwon, Ryeowook, Kyuhyun, Henry, Sungmin, Eunhyuk

Aww, a leader MiMi would be awesome; he hardly ever gets any play.

To be honest, I'm wondering why they decided to add Eunhyuk since I always pictured Super Junior M to be less rap-focused than Super Junior. Not that Eunhyuk isn't the epitome of absolutely amazing awesomeness (Tripe As, yo), but he doesn't seem to fill a void or really... add much since he's not rapping in Mandarin anyway.

Also, SUNGMIN! <3 /fangirl

So, the company that's making Super Junior's next song, saw how dedicated ELF are to them and were pretty shocked. So they decided that if they got 6,000 more twitter followers or something like that in a day, they'd make an ELF song.

May I present to you ELF Song. Personally, I think it's damn awesome and I've been listening to it all night, but I could be biased because I'm an ELF. But Super Junior is definitely better than pizza, cooler than polar bears, and more poppin than popcorn

Ah. I am to SuJu what most people on this board are to Momusu. I've been there since album one and yearn for the old days of songs like Dancing Out, U, and even Don't Don. But yet, I keep trucking along LOL

This shit makes me mad, though. Only13 bitches need to sit down and shut up. SJM is a completely seperate entity from SJ. They two, like, never touch each other, so quit acting like Henry/Mimi is climbin' in yo windows and snatchin' yo people up.

Sooo disappointed, tbh. It's just another Sorry, Sorry song, and seeing as I wasn't huge on Sorry, Sorry, or Sorry, Sorry the sequel (otherwise known as Bonamana), I kind of wish they'd stop releasing it under different names :P I'd like to think we'll get an awesome MV, but it'll probably just be another video like Bonamana. Boringggg.

Nothing amazing song or MV-wise, but SuJu look amazing as always despite very interesting styling choices. Why did everyone have ropes around their necks during the close-up shots? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nfused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> The opening was cool and reminded me a lot of It's You when all the boys kept running into each other's paths and the camera would switch focus to one of them. Blond Eunhyuk is very interesting, but is overshadowed by my joy that he's actually singing in this song! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/wub.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

All in all, it's better than Bonamana, and I'm okay with it. Ryeowook was getting it like crazy when his dance portion came at 2:44. Also, I love Heechul for being hilarious, but he's definitely bringing sexy back in his sunglasses + slicked-back hair combo.

Oh, and I'd say Yesung is the one suffering from unfortunate hair this time around even though Leeteuk's a close second. At least Leeteuk's is contributing to some sort of image. Yesung's just feels like someone got lazy and teased some hair gel into it.

I actually enjoyed Sorry Sorry and even Bonamana to some extent, but this song just has too much crap going on. For a song called Mr. Simple, they actually overcomplicated it quite a bit. The start is pretty decent but then a weird bridge comes in that just doesn't fit. And then about 2 minutes in another random part comes on! Why?

The less said about the styling the better, obviously. It looks like it was designed by a dementing 90 year old lady, using only fabrics she tore off her own furniture.

Despite not really being a fan anymore (especially after Eeteuk's comments re: fat/skinny, he used to be my favorite member but he fell down the asshole well and will probably never get out), I can't help but be disappointed. Heechul is just about the only good thing about this hot mess.

The only positive about this is that I can easily say: fuck SM! That feels pretty good! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... umbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
