This is a really solid album and the tracks work well together.

When I feel that something in H!P is really amazing, I often say the songs were meant for TNX. This is one of those times. Funny that I just removed a THE Possible album to make room for this on my phone. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hahaha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hahaha:' />

1. Icchoume Rock!

I like the echoing of the HAPPINESS!/ENDOLESS! line & the AHHHHHHHHH WO WO WO~! It's just a genuinely fun, headbanging H!P rock song. + for the phrase "DO IT NOW"

2. Heroine ni Narou ka!

This is really a good year for Berryz. They released this single and the album in March and didn't have to reschedule either, unlike the rest of Japan's music industry. Plus they're coming to perform in the USA. I love this song.

3. BOMB BOMB JUMP

I love this retro beachy sound, it was the last thing I expected from the title. Most songs with this sound are instant wins for me. Extra points for the background chorus lines. Love the intro part with the filtered vocals. I can't actually identify if that's like an old clip from something or one of the girls.

4. Masshiroi Ano Kumo

Now getting to the first slow song on a very energetic album. Usually an obstacle, but it's a pleasant break, and just a very sweet song. Starting with headbanging songs and now this is the head swaying song.

5. Maji Bomber!!

Back to the energy, once again, a sucker for the chorus repeating the lines. The guitar solo is fun also. The song is filled with a satisfying amount of changes throughout.

6. Joshikai The Night

YES! The weird synthy dance track with whisper parts. It's like a creepy Dekoboko Seventeen mixed with the feeling of a "desert level" in a video game (That sort of "Arabian" sound which Berryz often had in their early songs) Nice guitar solo again. CRAZY! CRAZY NIGHT! *stop looping this, you have an album to review*

7. Girls Times

Back to another retro song, with a sort of jazzy, or almost Elvis-like twist this time. Still stamped with H!P's cheerful YAYs! not totally serious and cool. I like how the ending slows down.

8. Onna no Pride

EE JUMP came to mind instantly, Hello! Atarashii Watashi. The obligatory cool R&B song. I really like the melody of the chorus verses and the piano. I don't like the low voice YE~UH. Learn to edit.

9. Shining Power!

What did I say before about choruses repeating the lines? "Akogare no kimi no koe!" I think of Ongaku Gatas + Yah!Aishitai from Best! Morning Musume 2. Gotta love the goofy, cartoonish gunshot effect.

10. Magical Future!

100% honest, I was sad that there was only one song left. What's that, you have another weird synthy dance track for me? Thank you! The vocal clips in the intro/between verses are cool. Love the falsetto on FUTURE in the chorus, and the melody in general. This song kind of combines the previous sounds found on this album, there's a bit of retro sound, some rocking, and of course weird creepy synth. The ending is great.

Top tracks: Joshikai The Night, BOMB BOMB JUMP & Magical Future!

For me, this is more solid than most H!P albums in recent years. It just keeps a certain mood throughout and never really drags down. It kind of sticks to what it's doing well, and it gets better at it as it goes along. I can't think of another album that uses titles with so many exclamation points, but it's very fitting for this one.

Even if you aren't crazy about Berryz (like I wasn't for many years), I say check this album out. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... umbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I bet there will be fans in Tokyo who rename it that. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

It's actually a very cute song, here's a subbed video. (Their audio is kind of scratchy, but the lyrics are the point.)

Unless Johnny or the record industry have something to say about it... <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... dammit.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':dammit:' />

1. Icchoume Rock!

I love this. Especially the guitars. I hope they do this live, because it'll be fun to watch. A perfect intro for the album.

2. Heroine ni Narou ka!

This is quite possibly the first Berryz single I've ever really enjoyed. I generally don't like Berryz from a musical standpoint but this was a nice step up from their usual singles.

3. BOMB BOMB JUMP

Sounds seriously retro but it works. Reminds me of a THE Possible song, but I can't think of which one at the moment. BOMB BOMB BOMB BOMB BOMB will be in my head all day.

4. Masshiroi Ano Kumo

This is actually really nice, if only because it doesn't have the generic ballad instrumental going on in the background. I don't mind ballads too much when they try to make the instrumental a little fun. Still probably not something I'll listen to over and over again, though.

5. Maji Bomber!!

I didn't like this song when it came out, but with time it's sort of grown on me. I do like watching the dance shot, though, if only because Yurina is right next to Momoko most of the time.

6. Joshikai The Night

Techno-y. Tsunku seems to have been playing around with these sorts of songs on albums lately, but I'm not complaining. The synth songs have really been the best ones lately. And then I heard the guitar solo and it sealed the deal. Probably the best song on the track.

7. Girls Times

More old-school. Saw a translation and the lyrics are adorable. Another one I think will be fun live. Except that pronunciation of Girls Time. That was some serious engrish. AND THEN MORE GUITARS. Guitars make everything better.

8. Onna no Pride

I don't really like this one much. There isn't a specific reason, it's just not really clicking with me.

9. Shining Power!

I didn't like this one when it came out either, and unlike Maji Bomber, I still don't. I prefer to just avoid this one.

10. Magical Future!

More synths, mixed in with a rock feel. Sometimes. It was there and then gone all of a sudden. But still. Sometimes Tsunku does do things right. Like with this song.

Icchoume Rock! and BOMB BOMB JUMP are my favorites, and I probably should have listened to a full Berryz album a long time ago. Also, I really love the cover for this. I might buy it when my birthday comes around. I look at that cover and all I see is Sudo.

主食=GOHANの唄

Shushoku wa GOHAN no Uta? (from the very same album I removed from my phone/mp3 player to make room for the Berryz album) <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I just might bring it back soon..

Icchoume's background chorus vaguely reminded me of THE Possible's Un.Deux.Trois MIRACLE. The "WO WO WO/ Let's GO GO" part.

Like I said, the album made me feel like I was listening to music for TNX groups.

p.s.

I think I've always been sort of on edge when it comes to Berryz Albums. I never really cared for them vocally and the album tracks of past have been meh for me to say the least. I really didn't care for the 6th album at all. And considering they were pushing the anime stuff I wasn't expecting a lot. But I was very wrong because this album is hands down my favorite of the year so far. (Unless Tsunku pulls some magic out of his crusty ass for morning musume or s/mileage that is. Which I doubt as always.) Hell I'll say it's my favorite for a few years. I found quite a few songs on here that I like. (Except maybe Shining Power)

Since I don't buy singles often, it was interesting to see that a few Canary Club members make an appearance on chorus for Heroine ni Narou ka! (Ayubee and Machan)

Oh wow! That's cool. I'm way behind on Berryz, time to catch up. And with the comments that this sounds like a TNX album, I'm looking forward to it.

btw, not the first time NGP and Berryz have joined forces - NICE GIRL Mu members were in the song BE from their 5th album <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... umbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Hi. I just thought I'd drop a note and say this is the best album ever. I actually bought it.

It's my first Japanese album ever. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hawhaw.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hawhaw:' />

What? Really?

I picked up Miya's voice in the harmonies (I guess she's the Ai of Momusu because I hear her do a lot of harmonies), but this is cool too. :)

I think they've had the best budget, directing & overall effort from the company put into their releases in comparison to all other main entities of H!P past and present.

I also think they had mostly horrible vocals the 1st few years, but that was presented and promoted quite well, even from the start.

It would be interesting to take all 25 single instrumentals (if they were all purely instrumentals) with MM's last 25 (MajiDesu back to Go Girl), and test what people enjoyed more overall. It's a good timeline too because Go Girl was just 2 singles before Berryz debuted.

I listened to every single on their youtube channel the other day, aside monkey dance...... every single is awesome.

C-ute since dance de bakon have been amazing too, just a shame they were kinda lame for a long time.

and as for s/mileage well, they are just kicking ass atm.

MM may still be the flagship group but the other groups imo at least are much better atm, with berryz holding the no.1 spot.

"Monkey Dance" was one of my favourites lol

But "Heroine" is their most amazing single, when it comes to outfits and covers and everything. I gotta admit C-ute has been on top too with their last few PVs, although the songs I haven't been too fond of.

On topic with the album...my copy from Amazon was going to ship last week of May to first couple weeks of June. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ryalot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cryalot:' /> Canceled the order. Gotta find it somewhere else now.

Stupid question; do Limiteds come with photocards? I know the reg first press came with cards, and I was about 75% sure I was gonna get one; but I prefer the Limited's cover. Even if I can't play the DVD, it'd be nice to have.
