Maeyamada's second solo single is coming out soon. Last time he put Aso Natsuko in the video. This time it stars

A! Ah! Ah! AKARI.

Anyway really I was posting about this:

I wonder why he put Akari in the video?

Because I know she's not the one singing.

But this is the OP for 'Nichijou' which I watch, I love this song XD

Edit: Looked it up and the person who is singing the girls lines isn't even a real girl. It was made with Hydain with digital voice modifiers.

Yeah, he sings everything, even the girl lines. I think he just put her in because he likes her. His first video had Aso Natsuko, a soloist he has composed for sometimes. And she also pretended to sing the girl lines that he did. And this time he used Akari, someone else he has composed for. When he composes, he usually acts as vocal director too, so he has a strong relationship with all those people. (Keep in mind, too, that he also wrote the lyrics and composed Akari's goodbye song and everything. Not to mention he put the reference to her in MomoCloZ's new song!) And besides, she has time to be in videos now!

Ebichu has a new single coming out this week, titled "Oh My Ghost? ~Watashi ga Akuryou ni Natte mo~". The official PV can be found here. Besides the weirdness of Hirono's labor screams, I love this song and the PV is too awesome (especially the end). This group is getting more awesome each single, I hope that they get a major record deal soon.

Heh, I was literally in the middle of writing a new thread for them because of the greatness of this song. I think there's no reason to muddle them all together in this one thread anymore. New thread: let's go

(PS, did you mean Reina's labor screams in the beginning?)

So, the album is out if you order online and they ship it to your apartment early. (And they wonder why their physical locations are in bad shape economically!)

So, I had a feeling this might happen after seeing how they handle "Ikuze Kaito" live now, but they recut the singles with the redistributed lines. I think this is gonna make some fans angry, but honestly I don't mind because it's like getting new versions of the songs we already have as singles. The only thing it hurts is never having an Akari "Orange Note" :{

I mean I know the album is under "Momoiro Clover Z" but I guess the bonus disc of solos doesn't count as Z

That's sort of "UGH" and "Oh well" at the same time.

On one hand, what's the point? Plenty of idol groups have had members leave and they usually only re-record the song if the member has left in disgrace. Even then, they usually make some vague change to the instrumental and call it an album version. That feels like erasing the fact that Akari was in the songs. If they were trying to be respectful of Akari's time in the group as a whole separate thing, why not release a best of with all those singles + the unreleased Orange Note and solos under the "Momoiro Clover" name and have the "Momoiro Clover Z" album be a new thing entirely with no old singles? They could have made EVEN MORE wota money that way!

On the other hand, I have all of those singles already so there's no real reason for me to be mad other than idealistically. And the fact that if I listen to the album all the way through I'll have to hear the Akari-less versions. But that's what mixed playlists are for! And like you said Mage, it's kind of like "Oh hey semi-new stuff!"

...but I'm still leaning towards the first hand, especially because of Orange Note. And yeah, if you're going to have her solo on there...

+ "Tsuyoku Tsuyoku"

and while we're at it, they could have finally given us a DVD-quality PV of "Ikuze! Kaitou Shoujo" (it's even more egregious since the version they uploaded on youtube so long ago has some bad interlacing problems)

I'm disappointed about the Akari-less tracks because she was an idol dear to my heart. But new album tracks will erase that disappointment, I'm certain. Can't live in the past, after all.

OK, it's time to focus on the good parts of the non-Akari album. That is to say, everything.

(If you don't have it, I hear it might be around here.)

With the re-recorded songs, only the two recent songs of "Z Densetsu" and "D' no Junjou" have already been released previously. So, this album is pretty high on content (even more if you get Limited A's 6 solo songs).

After Z Densetsu introduces the album, the first album track is Contradiction. It is also the first MomoClo track I've heard in a studio version before ever hearing it live in a long time. About four songs were kept more or less off setlists before the release. It's composed and arranged by the other half of the composing team of "Mirai Bowl". The album holds back on revealing its best stuff so early as the second track, but it's certainly not a bad song. It's got a driving electronic beat that encourages us to continue listening.

For Mirai Bowl, the best way to accept it is to accept it. In other words, we must be zen about this. It shows its nature as soon as we hear that Akari's first line of calling Kanako "baka!" It doesn't prepare us for the rap part. We must remember that Ayaka has her own rap style that is completely different than Akari's. She aptly uses her own style, but due to who the song was written for, she'll never be able to make it her own.

Wani to Shampoo is my favorite album track. Let's just put a Maeyamada alert here as it's one of his two album tracks (plus his 2.5 singles on the album). The song is about it suddenly being Aug 31 and after a fun summer, there is only one night to do summer homework. The girls frantically sing about needing to finish it (they go from 80 problems left to 60 problems left by the end of the song). With cute little puns like "Owaranai" and "What a night", I think these are my favorite of any lyrics he's written. The song's title ("Alligators and Shampoo") comes from a great section of the song that shows how diligent the students are. Here are the Geography, English, and Science questions.

What is Australia's capital?

None.

"Where do you live now?"

"Yes, I do."

What makes oxygen?

Alligators and shampoo

I think I've gotten that answer in English class before, but this is a more advanced mistake. Usually it would be "Yes, I am."

yabai

Pinky Jones is the least changed of the changed songs. It carries the same feeling as it always had, despite someone else singing Akari's name at the end. The biggest change is Reni's version of Akari's three-line breakdown. The part is almost perfect for Reni, so it's not too big of a change.

As I hoped previously, Kimi no Ato is the worst album track (thus the album is great). Composed by the composer of AKB's "Ponytail to Shushu" (ah, that explains it) and a few popular Arashi singles, it's actually kind of better in the studio version. I mean, it's not mind-alteringly beautiful like an Ogawa Mana ballad, but at least it smooths out any vocal problems and plays up some of the instrumental flourishes of the song. Also, come on, staff, you know these sorts of songs are not what MomoClo live is all about. OK, fine, I guess the girls need a break from hopping around the stage like kittens on amphetamines.

Ame no Tachikara wo was made by the guy who made "Pinky Jones" and arranged "Mirai Bowl". I can't really explain the song, but I really like the use of the melody and how the girls sing it. There's a feeling to it that I just can't put into words, but it's like a minor change in culture. The opening guitar pumps you up and then dumps you into tribal drums and the singing alternates between these two levels. It's really a great song in an understated way.

Orange Note may not have Akari, and it would have been better with Akari. But it's still an exciting song and still a favorite. Its composer/arranger is the same guy who composed SKE48's "1!2!3!4! Yoroshiku!" and Scandal's "Playboy Part II"

Ikuze! Kaito Shoujo's feeling is changed suddenly right from the very beginning. I can't change my life's previous experiences, so I'll never know if this rhythm feels wrong objectively, but the roll call sounds so strange after knowing the previous version so well. The roll cart also feels produced differently, and the voices seem to be coming from a different place. They also added some crazy pop crooning in the final repetition of the chorus. Mostly I'm just upset they didn't rename the song to 行くZ!怪盗少女. They've been putting that Z everywhere as a joke on twitter messages and the like. It fits perfectly.

Stardust Serenade is one of the more of disappointing album tracks. But it's kind of nice I guess. It's not bad, it just doesn't fit in an album of awesome. The breakdown in the middle is pretty cool how they sing it though.

Kono Uta was the first revealed album track. It's pretty fun. It was composed and arranged by Mr. Orange Note. I wonder if the rap was meant for Akari.

MomoClo no Nippon Banzai! is a great song for simply being a "Bonus Track". They originally said it would be 12 tracks, but my guess is that Maeyamada was like "Wait! I got a great idea!" and they let him do it because he's Maeyamada. It's a goofy song in which we hop aboard MomoClo's jet and have an adventure flying around Japan. Use it to learn geography if you want, since they mention nearly, if not all, of Japan's prefectures.

And there are solos. Just listen to them.

Akari's song is the shortest by far. But she's so punk, they took that into consideration when giving her a punk-length song...

Like Akari's cool image, the solos are pretty great at giving each girl a song that represents her image.

 • Shiori's song represents her adorable nature and shows off the naivete that such a character would have.
 • Fitting her out-there nature in her role as the group mystic, Reni provides us with a wonderful traditional Japanese sound and she pulls it off very well. If not Akari's, then this is my favorite solo.
 • Aarin's song is normally one I would hate but it fits her personality so well and Maeyamada made it so over the top that it can only be hilarious.
 • Despite singing it very well, Momoka's song is pretty boring. It's a well-done song, I just can't get behind it.
 • Kanako's song is the most disappointing. Kanako is always given the breakdowns in the songs in which she shows off her singing voice while the idol worship her. I always find her voice pleasant in the group songs. And yet, this solo was directed as some cute song. She sings it with this awful cutesy voice that's not what she's good at.

There are still surprises with these solos if you haven't heard how they performed them last April in the spring concert. Reni's and Aarin's are especially worth looking forward to the DVD to see. Akari, in her final performance of her solo, nails its intensity and rocks the microphone stand.

I finally got my album! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/wub.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Z Densetsu ~Owarinaki Kakumei~ - I still feel like this song was meant to be the new Ikuze, and falls a little short. It's a bit TOO whacky, with a lot more shouting than actual singing. But it has grown on me a lot and it's cute for an album opener. For a concert, I'd rather they open with Ikuze or Contradiction and follow with this.

Contradiction - Love. this. song.

Mirai Bowl - This is the "remake" I like the least. Aarin's rap is totally out of place. I know that cutesy-sexy is her thing, but it just doesn't fit the instrumental at that part. I noticed in all the remade songs, the group parts sound a lot higher pitched with Akari gone. It doesn't bother me in the new songs, but it just seems odd in the old ones since I'm so used to hearing the original. I'll stick with the original Mirai Bowl.

Wani to Shampoo - Such a great song that screams MomoClo. Lots of fun and silliness and great lyrics.

Pinky Jones - Reni's version of Akari's part in the middle is great. It fits the mood of the song but adds her own "Reni-ness" to it. Not too different from the original overall. I might keep this one around in addition to the original because I like Reni's part.

Kimi no Ato - Ballads aren't their strong point, and Kanako definitely strains. But there are some lovely low notes from Momoka. Not the greatest MomoClo song but not bad. I think it works best when you listen to it within the whole album.

D' no Junjou - I love this sooong. The PV was fantastic, and reassured me that MomoClo would still be awesome even without Akari. Z Densetsu had me worried for a bit.

Ame no Tajikara wo - Love this one too. I like the mix of different "ethnic" styles of singing and music.

Orange Note - I really wish we'd gotten the original with Akari at some point, but alas. I'm glad we got this on an album finally, it's a great song. Shiori does a fantastic job with the rap - I didn't know her voice could get that deep!

Ikuze! Kaito Shoujo - It's kind of weird to listen to at first, but I really like how they made changes to this song. Instead of just flat out replacing Akari like they did with the others, they change up the song a bit. Thee opening "hey hey we are..." part is done cutely instead of cooly, and the "KanakooOO" is a clever way to fill in the pause. The whoa yeah stuff at the end are a nice addition too. This is something I'll keep in addition to the original song.

Stardust Serenade - Holy misleading title Batman. This is basically that-standard-idol-album-track. Even boy idols have a track like this on every album. But I like that one song, so I'm happy with it. It's pretty cute.

Kono Uta - Another standard idol track, but again I like it. This is a great album closer and show closer. I definitely can see how this could be about Akari.

MomoClo no Nippon Banzai! - Aaand then there's this song. It's a lot like Z Densetsu for me, pushing the boundries of fun/cute/whacky a little bit too far. It also feels like the song that never ends and it's not really that long. But I could see it growing on me, there's a lot of great Reni moments and funny lyrics.

I have the Christmas concert but still haven't had a chance to watch it, so this is my first time hearing the solos.

Datte Aarin Nan da mon - Perfect for her. Super cute without being annoying or too over the top. I love the random scary music right before she says "Aarin." As much as she does the standard super burikko idol thing, she actually has a pretty good voice and can pull off a song like this much better than say, Sayumi could.

fall into me - AKARIII. The music for this is fantastic, it kind of surprises me it was used for an idol group. Once she starts rapping the song becomes a little bit Linkin Park (bad thing), but overall it's a perfect song for Akari and it makes me really excited to see her last performance of it. The harmonies are awesome too. *_*

Arigatou no Present - While Akari's song feels short, Momoka's song feels like it goes on forever. This is the best they could do for her? Lame! She's got a great voice with nice range, she could do so much more. The verses plod and plod. The chorus is pleasent to listen to but overall the song is a bore.

...Ai desu ka? - Shiori has the best voice in the group, but has this cute little sister image. I'm glad that instead of forcing her into a more cutesy voice that's typically associated with that character, they let her sing in a pretty, more mature sounding voice. This is a great song for her. It's sort of classic idol, something I could see early ManoEri doing.

Taiyou to Ekubo - This is a cute song, but it highlights Kanako's vocal weaknesses - she sounds strained in a lot of it and I agree, the cutesy voice doesn't fit her. This would have been better as a group song or a solo for Shiori, Reni, or even Momoka. Although she does English lines at the end really cutely in a good way.

Koi wa Abare Onidaiko - RENIII. Awesome awesome awesome song. The style fits Reni's randomness without being...totally crazy random. If that makes sense. Her voice is very pretty and works well with the style.

Overall: 5 stars, super awesome, no major disappointments.

It is really weird that Akari's name is NOWHERE to be found on the album despite the subtle references for her. She's not even listed under guest vocals or anything. It seems like they at least would have to credit her for her solo. But oh well, I kind of like that references to her are hidden for the old fans, but not too confusing for new fans.

Just got my CD in! The packaging is great, I love the glitters.

Gonna do a play by play as this is my VERY FIRST LISTEN. So whether stuff will grow on me I dunno, but these are my first impressions.

Z Densetsu ~Owarinaki Kakumei~ - mmm I love this song~

Contradiction - Very cool sound and the girls sound really cool on it. Very good contrast with Z Densetsu, while still being a bit fun. The melodic line in the verse reminds me quite a bit of Tsunku, but of course the arrangement is totally different.

Mirai Bowl - I have to agree with TnB that the rap just feels wrong here. I do appreciate that they actually went and re-recorded it, but it's definitely not an improvement.

Wani to Shampoo - oh my god so good~ YABAI! YABAI! MAJIDE YABAI! The vocoder part makes me very happy.

Pinky Jones - Pretty sure this is my least favorite MomoClo single, and that's a really good thing cause I still like it. It somehow lacks energy a bit for me.

Kimi no Ato - The prerequisite ballad isn't as bad as it could've been, though I still don't see me seeking this song out all that often. But just the fact that it's not so bad I want to skip it is pretty commendable. If the arrangement was a little bit more interesting, I think I could actually really like it. Some "unusual" instruments, like a solo cello or a shamisen, would've helped this a long way. Still not bad.

D' no Junjou - Obviously this rocks pretty damn hard.

Ame no Tajikara wo - Fun! This shows how much an interesting arrangement can do for a song, this is BARELY a song and it works purely on the strength of the unusual arrangement. Is this inspired by anything? I've never heard anything like this in the idol world and it's really cool.

Orange Note - I already liked this song, the new version is just fine in my opinion.

Ikuze! Kaito Shoujo - Yikes, they sure changed this one up! I guess it's cool that they did that, but this version sounds chaotic to me, like they turned everything up just a bit too much. Still, it's a brilliant, brilliant song, probably responsible by itself for me liking MomoClo in the first place.

Stardust Serenade - Seems like a fairly standard album filler track, but the progression and melody in the chorus is extremely satisfying for some reason, so I can't help but love this song too. The passage at around 3 minutes in is really great too.

Kono Uta - Ok this is definitely the most boring and bog-standard thing on this album aside from the ballad. I've heard that progression about 5 million times now, LET IT GO JAPAN. I would've probably cut this song if I was managing them.

MomoClo no Nippon Banzai! - Oh god, it's one of THESE Hyadain songs--so crazy they're not even catchy anymore. He's been doing this stuff for his solo career too, but I figured he was being "kept sane" by the management of MomoClo (and Ebisu, YuiKaori, etc.). I guess they just let him run rampant on this throwaway last track. Anyway it's hilarious and INCREDIBLY fun so it's all good. Great closer and a great way to wash away the blandness of Kono Uta!

Solos:

Taiyou to Ekubo - I really, really like this song, but then again I really like Kanako. Her voice sounds weak to me, sure, but it actually kinda increases the appeal of the song, it works in its favor, like old French chansons where the singer is slightly off key (or indeed Ronnie from the Ronettes in "Be My Baby").

fall into me - YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH..........!!!!!!! A KA RI! A KA RI!

...Ai desu ka? - Another really pretty song, tugs on my heartstrings a bit.

Datte Aarin Nan da mon - Haha! Kawaru wa yo~! This is really fun, I love it.

Arigatou no Present - Yeah, okay this is boring. Shame, after Aarin, Momoka is my new favorite and I wanted her to get something cool. This doesn't seem to suit her very much at all... Does she seem like a ballad person to anyone else? I don't know, not to me.

Koi wa Abare Onidaiko - Reni is almost definitely my least favorite member but holy shit this song is great. Good closer after Momoka's borefest, which I have to say I'm still a bit upset about.

Overall this is possibly my favorite album of the year (not counting Kyary's mini-album, but that's only 6 songs, and this is 19!). Fab stuff!

Maybe things really will change for you on further listens.
Kono Uta really sounds like a cute album track on par with high level H!P album stuff. I really like it!
I really like "Kono Uta" for some reason. Maybe I even had the opposite reaction as you. When I used to hear it live (like the youtube clip you first said you liked), I didn't care for it much. But the second or third time I listened through the album, I really started to enjoy the song because of the studio version. I think maybe it's the way they sing it. I really like the... earnestness and some sort of sense of need in their voices, for example, how you can hear in Kanako's voice in the opening line.

I don't know. Maybe I was just suckered in by the "Ichi ni san YAY"

Geez, consistency! Hmm yeah... I already liked it better the second/third time I played it. It doesn't sit that well in the album for some reason...

Ayaka meets Kanako from Momo Clo and finds her cute but..."also has ordinary points"

It's funny that it's those two. I've always felt they look quite similar. Kanako certainly is quite the ordinary teenage girl in her actions, especially getting excited at silly things that aren't big deals. The whole group really is pretty down-to-earth. I guess this was a meeting of the leaders. I wonder what it's for? They've had joint media appearances before. MomoClo loves S/mileage though, so I guess it's nice.
