1) Which rejected MM auditionees became pop stars on their own?

Koda Kumi is the only one I know of. Were there others?
On their own? Nobody that I can think of, but Kashiwagi Yuki joined AKB48 and became one of the more famous girls. Sato Sumire also joined AKB48. They were in Happy8 Audition.
2) What H!P performers went on to careers outside of H!P?

Maki Goto, Ai Kago. Any others?
What do you mean "careers"? I think most of them went on to careers. Some became mothers or something, but most probably had careers, like Yaguchi, etc. Or even Fukuda was working somewhere in her later life. Or do you just mean performance careers? And I mean, all the old girls left "H!P" but most stuck around UpFront.

Also, does it count if the girl who was in the Kansai H!P group left and then joined the Kansai 48 group?
3) Who auditioned for MM, didn’t get in, but was chosen to join H!P in some other capacity?

I.e., became Eggs or something. Didn't Yuu Kikkawa initially audition for MM?
Yeah, Kikkawa was one of the finalists in her audition. It also happened in the most recent audition. The two finalists who didn't make it into MM, Otsuka Aina and Mogi Minami are now Eggs.

There's probably others I'm not thinking of for all these questions.

1. There are a number of models, talents and even comediennes that auditioned for MM and failed, but still made it into show biz eventually.

2. Makes no sense. The majority of Ex-M members never left showbiz or the public eye, even before Dream MM.

3. Several. In addition to the Eggs, Miki and Mai Satoda were both in the auditions and debuted later. Mano did something similar.

4. I'm not checking numbers, but I think Risa was younger then Kago when she joined. It'd be between her, Koharu, Aika and Kanon. Kanon might be the youngest.

4) Who was the youngest member ever to join MM?

I figure it's between Asuka Fukuda, Ai Kago and Kanon Suzuki, but it comes down to how many months after their 12th birthday they joined. Has anyone ever calculated this? (I was gonna look their dates up on H!P Generasia, but the site's not working for me right now.) I'm guessing Kanon.

Thanks.
Kago still holds the crown. I went and found that list of how old they were when they joined. She beat Kanon by about two months.

All the 12 year olds:

23. Niigaki Risa at joining was 12 years, 10 months, 6 days old

24. Tsuji Nozomi at joining was 12 years, 9 months, 30 days old

25. Kusumi Koharu at joining was 12 years, 9 months, 16 days old

26. Fukuda Asuka at joining was 12 years, 8 months, 21 days old

27. Sayashi Riho at joining was 12 years, 7 months, 5 days old

28. Suzuki Kanon at joining was 12 years, 4 months, 28 days old

29. Kago Ai at joining was 12 years, 2 months, 9 days old

I'm just learning how to use my new computer. When I tried to post photos from my Flickr account here, this is the message I got:

"You are not allowed to use that image extension on this board"

I tried "grab the link," both long and short URL and the html code and none of them worked.

It works fine on my office computer.

I'm sure it's a Flickr issue. I can copy and paste a photo link from my blog, like so:

Image

...and this photo originally came from my Flickr account, but I can't seem to retrieve a useable link from Flickr.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

IIRC Flickr adds some garbage after their links to dissuade hot-linking. Just delete everything after the .jpg/.png and you should be good to go.

I'm in the process of doing a new blog entry on Buono's winter 2011 concert and I have a question.

One of the live band members plays an odd instrument that I can't identify.

Does anyone here recognize it and know what it's called?

Image

The keyboardist blows into it and plays keys on it. It sounds somewhat like an accordion.

Anyone?

Thanks.

Thank you for that. Now I have a similar question about another instrument in the same concert. In that same number the bassist plays this instrument:

What's it called?

My blog entry is up now, but I'll go back and add this info when I get it.

Thanks!

What's with the skull motif on H!P costumes recently? Is there some hidden message there? Or a secret society?

Check out these t-shirts from the Buono spring concert.

Skulls = "rock" in Japan

They are also cool. 90% of Reina's personal clothes have skulls on them.

They are pretty much the whole plot of the movie revolving around them. Someone wants to get rid of Morning Musume and the three detectives try to protect them. It's also the last you'll see of Eri, Junjun and Linlin. I kinda want to see this myself, but yeah... no subs. Image But it is in the process of being fansubbed, at least according to the comments of the torrent.

Plot from wiki

Kai (Aya Omasa), Mei (Azusa Okamoto) and Yui (Anri Okamoto) are high school students. The three girls are also detectives and they solve cases using their reasoning abilities. It's also a secret that these girls are detectives.

One day, the three high school girls receive a call from Kazuhiro Nanba of the Metropolitan Police Department Kazuhiro Nanba. A letter was received in which the writer threatened to kill the popular idol group Morning Mutsume. Kai, Mei and Yui go to the Morning Mutsume concert to guard them. After the concert, Mei is with members of Morning Mutsume on the tour bus, but Mei suddenly disappears ...

I'm a big fan of Uta Doki Pop Classics, in which H!P members sang covers of J-pop and J-rock classics. But they only released 12 DVDs of it. (I have ten of them.)

Is there another show like it? I read a reference to something else like it on one of these threads recently, and now I can't remember what it was called. "Uta no..." something. Does anyone know what I'm referring to and if it's like Uta Doki? And is it out on DVD?

Thanks.

There's a 2011 movie called OSAMA GEMU or KING'S GAME that stars every member of Berryz and C-ute, plus Yossi.

Anyone know anything about it?

It's a horror movie about a class or something like this, if I remember correctly Airi & Yurina are the main in the movie and the rest of the kids act as the rest of the class and hitomi is the teacher...

The movie hasn't even got release yet (or maybe it is and I didn't knew about it?)

The collbration between c-ute & berryz koubou is the theme song of the movie and can be heard twice in the movie...

correct me if I'm wrong...

Book Off has a DVD of a TV show from 2002 featuring then-members of Morning Musume. It's called "Shinshun! Love Stories" and is 138 min. It's out of print. Here's CDJapan's description:

“The anthology drama was aired on January 2, 2002 on TBS Network. Includes "Izu no Odoriko" starring Maki Goto, "Haikara-san ga Tooru" starring Rika Ishikawa, "Toki wo Kakeru Shojo" starring Natsumi Abe. Special Features: Previously unbroadcast footage, making-of, outtakes/bloopers”

Anyone know anything about this? Is it worth getting? It has no subs., of course. Two of the stories look like period pieces. In fact, in prepping this post, I just did some research and learned that "Izu no Odoriko" is "The Izu Dancer." I read that story earlier this year. Maki, Nono and Kei are in it. I'm assuming Nono plays the title character. The second story is based on a manga that was also animated--it's known in English as either "Smart-san" or "Here Comes Ms. Modern." And the third is based on "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time," which I've seen in both animated and live-action film versions. Well, that answers one of my questions: now, I know I've GOTTA get it.

Anyway, has anyone seen this?

Thanks.

Watched it when it aired on TV forever ago. Really no reason to bother without subtitles if you can't understand it as it is straight drama.

Doing fact-checking for a new blog entry, I was researching how often the song, “Aozora ga Itsumademo Tsuzuku You na Mirai de Are!,” has been used as the finale in a Hello! Project concert (I counted 8), and I came across two Hello! Pro Egg concerts:

2009 Hello! Project Shinjin Kouen 11gatsu ~Yokohama Fire!~

2009 Hello! Project Shinjin Kouen 4gatsu ~Yokohama HOP!~

I'd never heard of these before. Are they any good? Are they worth getting?

They are egg concerts, as far as I know egg concerts never get officially released. Not sure about fanclub though.

They were around the time S/mileage were still eggs, but also S/mileage and there were still lots of eggs before the great purge that was never talked about. Good times, GOOD TIMES! I miss all those eggs! Image

Here is HOP's setlist and Fire's Setlist. Generasia is good with finding concert setlists. Image

Here are the links:
