Re: Berryz Koubou's Dakishimete Dakishimete PV
I watched this PV a few times this morning -- and consequently had Kiiroi Osora de BOOM BOOM BOOM stuck in my head all day. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hatthe.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':sideways:' />
Not sure why - they're not all that similar - but BOOM's chorus could easily be adapted to fit with this song.
Yeah, Momoko's smile. She looks so confident and secure, like it all comes so easy for her. But she's been that way for years, a consummate pro. A super-idol.
Chinami really does look terrific, and she gets two lines! (I think.)

Not trying to go there, either.
Well, how about an Electronic Music thread in Music Chat? I wouldn't necessarily want to limit it to just dance music, more like all non-idol based electronic music.
I may start one tonight if I get a minute.
I also noticed the hair (it's everywhere) and I like it for the most part but there were a couple of 'what the hell's.
...
There's some weird lopsided hair cut action going on here, at least I think that's what's going on (I say haaaaaaaaa-aaaaa-aaaaaaaaa-ir).
I think one side is curled up and the other side is straightened. So, the hair is not cut lopsided- just styled so. But whatever, it is cute! Even wearing a leopard print fuzzy fedora, she is all sorts of cuteness!

Hooray for clubbing underaged. Set a great example, BK! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /weeeh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='-_-' />
Their hair is probably the only thing I like about this whole affair. Captain's lopsidedness just blows my mind.

Re: Berryz Koubou's Dakishimete Dakishimete PV
I like the PV, for sure... I don't know if I'd call it that complex, but it is still very captivating. The fast-paced dance, along with segments of slow-motion, and all their different costumes, etc... helped keep it interesting. Chinami looks particularly fantastic.
The song, on the other hand, takes some getting used to... I had it on repeat for a few hours, thinking I might "get used to it"... never happened... I didn't find it particularly bad, just not very memorable.
I then listened to a higher quality version of the song, at a higher volume. The beats are actually quite catchy like that... <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... joyful.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='-_-' /> I guess I should have expected that from a song for a club. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hahaha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Re: Berryz Koubou's Dakishimete Dakishimete PV
I woke up this morning to mind singing to me, "Da.ki.shimete, Dakishi.mete." I guess that, uh, says something about the song.
What's the first thing you do when you return home after a concert?
LinLin: "I stop thinking and stare into nothingness."
I love it. It's got lazer lights, chest pops, catchy music, tsunku screams (ya hoo) and synth! As a H!P fan this is the best, Risako's singing be damned.
I'm starting to wonder if the 'ya hoo' effect was just sampled once and they just randomly throw it in to songs for fun. I swear it sounds no different than other songs that I can't think of at the moment.
<img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/wub.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
Maybe Tsunku went into the studio and yelled ya hoo for every note in a scale so they can have stock ya hoos for any situation. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='-_-' />
I thought of this example, but after checking, it's slightly different than the Berryz yell.
Gyaruru (it's @ 14 seconds in)

Yeah. The PV looks very good for a H!P PV and that's always a good thing. But I didn't like the song too much, it just didn't work for me. I don't think I've felt this way about a H!P song since Maki's IN MY LIFE, and it's really a shame...

Wow, this is awesome! Am I the only person who thinks Maasa sounds good here?
I love Saki's hair. I like to see anything interesting done with her, she's so kept down. (I love all of the wilder hairstyles in here, actually. Except the curly hair. Eek.)
It's good to see a good serving of Miyabi in here; I was starting to worry they were keeping her down for good. =\

I really like this! The dance is funky and the music is awesome. I really, really like the distribution of lyrics that Berryz have been putting out lately. The front girls are still the same, but the others are getting way more than just a word in these days. I'm completely bias to Berryz so maybe thats it, but this song and PV rocks!

Re: Berryz Koubou's Dakishimete Dakishimete PV
what is Tsunku's obsession with Eurobeat? I mean, whenever H!P does techno it's *always* eurobeat. I personally think if a group like berryz went electro or hardstyle they'd do really well. I never understood why Idol pop in japan never seems to change. I know it's IDOLS. But if they at least tempted to use different genres and styles, they'd do way better.
That said, I really like the direction Berryz is going. From trying to stand out from a million different other groups, they do have a certain unique charm to them. I'm just always worried that them and C-ute will become too similar. They both really need a definitive sound to them.

Re: Berryz Koubou's Dakishimete Dakishimete PV
It's just like, two cents away from being really really really awesome... can you feel it? Like, the song had all the formula of awesome, then someone went back and said "This, this is FAR too awesome!" and dumbed it down a little bit?
There's just a few little instrumentals tucked in there that make it sound just a bit more juvenile - like the oriental-sounding thing at 00:18, and the weird run of some sort of out-of-place synth at about 0:28, and again the oriental-sounding thing that plays during the end of their solo lines.
Just, say, compare it to the Gyaruru song. That was pretty much a full-blast parapara song, no holds barred, while I feel like whoever arranged this one, thought there was just too much eurobeat and had to add in some stuff from the H!P Barrel of Stock Sounds That Are Used in Virtually Every Song. Ah, I can't quite articulate it, unfortunately..
Aside from the distracting little nit-picks and the fact that I want to push it up about 20 BPM (and probably will via Audacity, heh), I love this. It's fun, they look like they're having fun, the dance is actually interesting to watch, everyone looks good despite some odd hair choices, where is my Saki photobook, etc.
Risako.. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... wheely.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cryalot:' /> It IS like Reina, but... worse. Reina at least sounds good sometimes.. (Why do we not have an ear bleedy smiley? If we do I missed it..). And the interesting part is, you'd THINK they'd overuse Momoko and Miyabi like crazy, given the popularity of Buono!, but in a cruel twist of fate they decided to distribute lines more equally... in the direction of Risako. (Insert the ear bleedy smiley that doesn't exist here)

About the 2 cents bit, I think I can get a gist of what you're saying. Which is why I said it's really really good, but not fantastic.

Just noticed that Saki is wearing one black boot and one white boot. Awesome song, good pv. Some of the outfits could be better.

She really does, and especially since she doesn't have her usual (see: 95% of the time you see her) fake smile expression on her face, and the hair somehow works in a weird, retro way. I wish she would get more exposure, but I think she might not be too great of a singer, so they don't want to force her out to the front. I think her being freakishly tall might have something to do with that too, since putting her in front would make it even more obvious. Back in the day, she was pretty good, singing-wise (see: Aisuru hito no Namae wo), but maybe puberty screwed up her voice lately.Does anybody else think Kumai looks stunning?
I don't think puberty screwed up her voice, she still sounds better than Risako (even though I like Risako, I like them all xD), Some of the songs on their 5th album she sounds amazing. It's probably not a voice thing, but more about what you said about her being super-tall, isn't she like 178cms?

I take it you haven't been following Berryz very much? Risako has always had ridiculous amounts of lines. The distribution is getting more even in the direction of the (ex-)glorified backup dancers, who also happen to be the most entertaining girls in Berryz. Also, Risako is in no way an annoying spotlight hog and is actually an endearing character, unlike Reina. (But yeah her voice is pretty grating... Which makes you wonder why they push her to the front so much. Oh well, I learned to just roll with it.)
Oh and the song kicks so much ass, it reminds me that Tsunku is still the best pop producer in Japan. Last year was a wash as far as Tsunku-produced H!P stuff goes so let's hope this year bodes well with a start like this (and C-ute's new single as well). <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... umbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
