I'm having a BBC experience. Though not a movie, I watched the 4 part mini-series on Emma from 2009 because I'm an Jane Austin nutbar. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/wub.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I then tried to watch the old 1980 Pride and Prejudice but the guy playing Mr.Darcy was such a stone faced goober that I couldn't do it. I'll have to order the one with Colin Firth instead because Colin is love. Yes he is! I'd like to see the movie that just came out also, but that'll have to wait. :D

I then watched Young Victoria. It was a nice little period piece, but I sorta wish it delved more in the politics. That was pretty interesting.

And lastly, I saw R.E.D. Not bad, but not also something I'd see at a theater.

I'm beginning to love my Netflix. :D

I just saw Dirty Work based on a recommendation from a friend. It is very obviously a classic and it is deeply troubling to me that it isn't widely known and remembered as such.

I'm in a film class, so I've watched a good number of movies lately. Dark City (liked it! Gonna do a presentation on it), M (not bad, kind of slow), and Metropolis (the original, REALLY slow and REALLY long).

Also saw the HBO film The Sunset Limited. What a questioning movie it is. I never thought of being faithful to death and darkness. I wanna watch it again, but not fall asleep or change channels for 25 minutes in the middle of it <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

And so but then I watched Sex and the City on USA yesterday. Weirdly enough, so was my black, muscle-head jock roommate. Anyway, I kind of liked it, but I've never seen the show. I'd maybe watch the sequel?

I just saw Poltergeist for the first time. It has held up very well considering when it was made and it's probably one of the best 'haunting movies' I can think of.

We were talking about that in work today. A lady at work had to go to China to get the remains of her mother's parents because the government is taking over the land and going to build something or other. Of course Poltergeist was talked about because I'm sure they're gonna miss... a few bodies. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /ph34r.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I just saw Grownups, and got totally geeked out when they showed the shot of them in Southborough (which is the next town over from me). "OMG it's the CHURCH!!!! WE CUT THROUGHT THAT WAY ALL THE TIMEOMG!!!!!!111" Yeah kinda like that. It was a good movie also. But OMG they were there and I didn't know about it and I'm so sad. I bet the private school down the street got some good views of the going ons. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... dammit.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':dammit:' />

Colin Firth is so hot. I don't even like Jane Austen, but the 1995 adaptation is t3h sex when it comes to Mr Darcy.

I rented The A-Team weeks ago, but didn't get around to watching it until yesterday. It had some pretty ridiculous action scenes, which is always good, but I couldn't really focus on the rest because my mind was on too many other things related to my new home.

I watched movies all weekend long (mostly sunday). D: Thank you Netflix.

Vampire Girl. v Frankenstien girl - This movie sucked. I mean, yes, all corny sci-fi films suck. But this one had no humor in it and horrible blackface. And a horrible overdub. Ugh so shitty.

Mystery Team - GAH. I have trouble with secondhand embarrassment and while funny, it was so. difficult. to. watch. Stars Donald Glover from community and he's rather adept at carrying a comedy by himself.

Super Kids - some Thai action movie. This means it will have glorious ass kicking! And since it starred kids, the action sequences weren't super Tony Jaa spectacular, but holy shit those kids were amazing. The fight against the big bad was awesome! The plot, like all martial arts asskicking films is inconsequential. I will call this one "Where's the heart" after "Where's my elephant?" (so sad I ran out of time and couldn't rewatch that one. :(

The Tsunami King/Warrior/Something I forgot - I was disappointed. The synopsis promised me a fighter whose only skill is Thai boxing taking down a queen, sorcerer, and pirate band. I got...some stupid shit that kept me bored until a lackluster action scene hit. By time I was sick of it, I was too far in the movie to quit, much like VG v FG.

Cronos - Oh you thought I could do a movie thread post without mentioning my love. But you didn't and while it's not the best directorial debut, I still liked it.

Ong Bak 3 - Not enough action, too much stupid plot. Tony Jaa, I don't watch your movies for the plot. Quit trying to have one and bring back stuff like "Where's my Elephant/Idol/ect".

The Good The Bad The Weird - LOVED IT. I vastly prefer Korean films to the other Asian countries for some reason.

The Karate Kid - Just because you Will Smith's son don't mean you have the charisma of your father, and truth be told I can't stand Will Smith in movies either. Jackie Chan, I sat through this for you. 80s is superior even if this one had better fight choreo.

Astro Boy
- Eh, it was okay.

I hate Luv Stories - A bollywood film billed itself as untypical love story is the most cookie cutter you could get. The songs effing sucked and the leads effing sucked too and I only watched it because I wanted to see a romance film. Should've picked better next time. Bah. It's so hard to find good romance oriented films. Doesn't help that I have to be in a certain mood to watch either.

Kings of Pastry - I sat and drooled for over an hour and then went on a candy spree at the store. So bad, so bad.

Trick 'r Treat - It was okay.

Now watching Recién Cazado.

Watched The Happening on TV ~3 weeks ago when I was zapping through the programm.

Holy shit was it bad, worse than I've expected. The dialogues often made absolutely no sense.

And the fucking "running from the wind" was hilariously retarded.

Seems like JJ Abrams keeps on shitting out great things, Super 8 got really great reviews on RT so far. Unfortunately I have to wait 2 months for the european release...

Also want to see Source Code sometime soon (it just got released here yesterday).

I'm extremely surprised by the quite good reviews the new Fast and the Furious movie gets. I might even go see this one.

Finally got to see True Grit. Wow. It deserves all the praise it got.

I've been 100% spoiler free on Super 8 and know nothing about it besides the title and who made it, so I look forward to watching it tomorrow.

I watched X-Men Origins First Class. I enjoyed it more than any other X-Men movie I've seen. Which may or may not be a good thing, but overall I enjoyed it. Problems with some of the mutant powers and the glaring bit of racism with Darwin that pops up, almost astonishingly, aside, it was a pretty well crafted movie. Xavier and Magneto are definitely the heart of this movie, and they're what keep it solid.

I really enjoyed First Class too. I would say I enjoyed it about as much as the first, which is a big compliment.

It was kind of the perfect popcorn movie, which isn't easy to pull off. My only complaint is that I just can't take Kevin Bacon seriously at all. My friend and I hummed Footloose throughout every scene. He clearly studied the German, though, even if his accent was mighty strong.

Edit: Herpnderp, just parroted. I meant First Class, of course.

I'm pretty sure the "racism" part was on purpose. Remember, the comic was originally viewed as a commentary on racism and views on homosexuality, not to mention the actual time frame of the movie was the heart of the Civil Rights Movement. Bringing up slavery was a pretty solid play to use to recruit someone who was both black and a mutant.

Yeah but did they have to kill the only black guy in the movie? I really thought that was unnecessary, especially considering what his power even was. Let's kill the guy who can't be killed! He's black too! What made this ever seem like a good idea is beyond me.

edit: what happened to the black shaded spoiler code. :(

I saw the Dead or Alive movie last night. It was definitely a bad movie, but not as disastrous as the trailer made it look. Almost everyone was miscast, but they sort of stuck to the game's story, which I didn't expect. I'd recommend it!

I saw Green Lantern.

Honestly, I didn't like it. It was so, so poorly edited and paced. It was just a hot choppy mess. I also don't love Ryan Reynolds, so that made it sort of worse.
