S/mileage New Member Audition!

I think she said Jang was better at it than her when she first started learning Japanese.

Jang as a decent voice, but the language thing is still a problem. Perhaps more prolonged exposure to Japanese will fix that. But I don't think she should join S/mileage. She looks too mature for the rest of the group. (As well as being the second coming of Mizuki.)



Of the non-eggs, Katsuta did a pretty good job, but upon some closeup shots, she looked rather tragic. She has Reina eyes.



Miyazaki looks like a thin JunJun.

Katsuta might be able to be fixed with makeup and keeping her hair up at all times. I notice that Reina's uneven eyes are more noticeable when her hair is down. But they've gotten a bit better with age.



Jang's lack of energy is nothing new, though. I heard she didn't have any back in 09 when she auditioned either. Maybe this would change if she was in a group and felt like she had something more to work hard for.

I have a feeling that Tsunku will put Karin in the group he has the most hope for.



I suspect this will probably be S/Mileage rather than Momusu, but we'll see.



Personally, I would prefer Karin in Momusu, she would be the Riho/Reina/Ai of 10th gen.

So I watched the audtion on the tracker and here are my thoughts, mostly on singing and looks because that's all I really care about. :D



Miyazaki - She's got that cute voice but she was having problems remembering lines or singing, I like her cause she looks like a sad little junjun that needs to be fed. Close up shots, you lose the junjun appeal and she just looks a bit sad and lost. With some work she could be a good member to add. I can see her in one of the 48s if she doesn't make it here or in Morning Musume. She's got that look about it.



Kosuga - No, just no to everything. Moving On!



Yamaga - TEETH-chan! That's her nickname. She's not going to make it on the teeth alone, but then I guess some wota have a teeth fetish. But she is like Koharu and Kanon (Musume) and would need to work on learning a closed mouth smile. Her singing isn't bad, it's pretty good actually but then she begins to lose it and that's sad. But I'm sure they didn't get a lot of time to practice the song and dances.



Egg Akari - Singing isn't as good as the last time she sang. I like her but I don't think she fits S/mileage very well. She could go into Morning Musume, I would't mind her there. But everytime I see her I think she's Maasa instead of Maimi's cousin. I think it's the lips. If she turns out half as pretty as Maimi after puberty then I'd love to see her in Morning Musume. They need more pretty people.



Egg Karin - She's the Ace for sure. If she doesn't make it into S/mileage as the egg candidate then I'll be very upset at Tsunku. (Unless of course he places her in Morning Musume, Then I'll forgive him.) But I personally think she fits S/mileage more then Morning Musume. Morning Musume is more about growth of character where as S/mileage to ME seem more like Berryz and C-ute which are already trained idols. But since this audition throws a wrench into that idea. (For now)



Egg Katsuta - Reina's ugly little sister. And I'm talking about that tragic eye that's drooped. What makes up for it is that the girl can sing well. But then Reina made it so I have hopes that people will see past the eye or she'll get some work down, or start a new eyepatch trend. She could always go into voice acting.



Meimi - She was my favorite from the first audition, her voice may be high but I like it. I mean she doesn't sound like a fog horn and I can see her in S/mileage. I think this is the first time I can honestly say I WANT THIS GIRL IN H!P NOW! I think I may be very upset if she DOESN'T make it. Like I'd totally wota for her. I swear I would. I want to pinch her cheeks, put her in my pocket, carry her around like a puppy, brush and braid her hair, give her cookies, play princess and make her my little sister. I'm not ashamed of it.



Aogi - Uhm... she's good, not great, a little unmemorable for me. Just the sort Tsunku likes to pick for Morning Musume. Her voice was okay but it didn't stand out.



Nakanishi - She's from Osaka! I want me some Osaka-ben in S/mileage. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... R#>/8o.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='8o' /> To bad she sucked at singing. And then she started talking and her voice dropped about 5 octaves. Her natural voice was so nice. She seems like a lot of work, but she seems like a diamond in a rough rough shape.



Jang - If you can look past her difficulties, she has a really good voice. To bad she'd be the Mizuki of the group, unless of course her timidness and shyness is due to her language barrier and she's hiding a wild beast under all that formality. Of course I wouldn't want S/mileage to turn into a gimmick group.



Fujii - I was waiting for her to knock someone out when they were doing the dancing. She's got some pretty eyes from some of the close-up shots, but her singing is nothing special.



Oda - She looks pretty plain, but make-up can fix that no problem. I'm not partial on no-bangs girls so giving her some might make a world of difference on the looks. She sounds like Dawa, and we don't need another Dawa.



And that's my opinion!



Oh and lastly, Tsunku was watching the Nico Nico chat during the auditions. I hope he listens to what the users had to say as far as who they liked and didn't like. And I mean REALLY listen.

I don't get people saying Akari isn't S/mileage material. She's PERFECT for them. Looks, voice and personality would all mesh perfectly with the group. Should Tsunku actually do the logical thing for once, Akari would be in S/mileage and Karin in MM.

If Tsunku is going to keep S/mileage free of front girls then I'd agree with you on that. But I personally think Karin is too good to be wasted in Morning Musume. I wouldn't have said that a few years ago, but now that S/mileage is getting promotion out the wazoo, I'd like to see her in a group that wouldn't put her talents to waste. Girls' too good to be wasted.

Thoughts re: audition:



Karin's easily the best at everything.



Akari's a distant second, but she's still quite good.



I'm a big fan of Katsuta, but I have to wonder whether her uneven eyes will doom her. On the other hand, Tsunku loves flawed girls, so maybe it will be an advantage. Her face looks pretty strange in close-ups, although I love her smile. I hope she makes it somewhere.



Jang has a nice voice, but she's remarkably dull. At least LinLin and JunJun had personality.



Meimi sang pretty badly the second time around, but she's probably the most likely of the non-eggs to get in. She has the look and sound for S/Mileage.



If Tsunku turns down Miyazaki, I think PKyu is right -- one of the 48 groups will grab her. She has the kind of look they want.



I like Yamaga a lot, but I don't see her fitting into S/Mileage at all. I'm not so sure where I would put her though.



I'm fond of Fujii, who has a high-energy level. It wouldn't surprise me if she got in, or became an egg. I also like it that she's a Suzuki Kanon fan. Maybe she should join Momusu and become Kanon's sidekick.



Oda's a really good singer, but she looks pretty plain. Still, Tsunku seemed quite interested in her.



Aogi didn't really stand out, although she was cute in a Sayu kind of way, at least to me.



The other two didn't really stand out for me at all, so I just won't comment on them.



Overall, a pretty solid group. Hopefully Momusu will get an even better selection of girls for their auditions.



If both Karin and Akari go to S/Mileage instead of Momusu, I think that says where Tsunku is betting his chips.

Judging by pics I've seen and basing them solely by looks, I really like Fuji, Tamura and Miyazaki. They all look like they would be really cute once they're idol-ed up and don't look so rough.

When I found out how old Miyazaki was, I was shocked to see she even made it this far. I was sure they'd weed out all the older girls.

Eggd don't have training camps, they have regular lessons. I'm pretty sure that Dayeon is receiving her lessons in Korea.
