I just realized Berryz went to Hawaii last month, and in a couple pictures I saw on Miya's blog, it looks like they were on a beach in Waikiki (Captain confirmed going to Diamond Head on her blog, too)! So when H!P groups go to Hawaii, do they go to Oahu? Or another island? They always just say "Hawaii" <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol:' />

More of a Japanese question than an MM question, but...



How are each of the generation names read? All the varying ways to read numbers and whether or not the "generation" kanji stays "ki" or becomes "kki" always get me =/



1st gen = 1期 = いっき/ikki？

2nd gen = 2期 = にき/niki？

3rd gen = 3期 = さんき/sanki？

4th gen = 4期 = よんき/yonki？

5th gen = 5期 = ごき/goki [Already know this one]

6th gen = 6期 = ろっき/rokki [Already know this one]

7th gen = 7期 = ななき/nanaki？

8th gen = 8期 = はっき/hakki？はちき/hachiki？

9th gen = 9期 =　きゅき/kyuki? きゅうき/kyuuki?

10th gen = 10期 = じゅうき/juuki? じゅっき/jukki?　

11th gen = 11期 = じゅういっき/juuikki？

And then 12 will be:

12th gen = 12期 = じゅうにき/juunniki？

I heard recently that Eric, the guy from the Berryz visit to NJ who had Miyabi's name tattooed on his arm (pic below), is in Hawaii going to school and took a couple of buses (a three-hour trip) to get to where he thought the girls would be and immediately ran into Miyabi, who remembered him. She was busy so it was just a brief encounter. Still, what are the chances? Talk about a charmed fandom.

From a marketing POV, is double A-sides a big thing? They did it with Momusu, now Berryz and S/mileage. I know all the editions are a smart move, but double A-sides? Isn't that technically just more money since they'll be making some sort of PV for the other song?

Also, what school do the girls go to? Is it in Tokyo? Do their classmates know they are in MM? How do the older girls balance highschool and performing? Heck, I can barely do my homework and live a semi-normal life.



And which girls have continued to HS, because I know it is optional in Japan?

I only know these ones from hearing them spoken at concerts. 8th gen is hachiki, 9th is kyuuki, and 10th is juuki (might be juukki? idk).

The only one I know is Reina, who was in HS but dropped out at some point. I couldn't imagine going to school while being so famous. I would think a lot of them do home-schooling (I think I remember something about Ai T. doing that).

Their classmates know that they're in MM. All of the current members of C-ute went to high school, Momoko is already in university, though I don't know about the other Berryz members. If you looked a few pages back in this thread you'd have seen that Reina, Kei, Miki, and Maki all dropped out.

How recognizable to the average Japanese citizen is Morning Musume? I know I asked two Japanese girls last year and they had no clue until I started humming Love Machine <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ryalot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cryalot:' /> . Have they had a spike in popularity? I know it seems to me like they have been on TV more.

Celebrities usually go to the same schools as other celebrities. They would be less strict and not as rigorous. For example, Kaori went to this one where some SMAP and SPEED members went.

I wish I could explain better but in general it depends on where you live, what you like, your hobbies etc.



There are very very few things that all Japanese people know about, Arashi, Perfume, AKB, exile. These kind of groups.



It's kind of an awkward situation... Can you imagine the number one song of the week not being performed on the most popular music show in the country? Well that's what happens to MM in regards to music station.

I'm semi certain that MM isn't allowed to perform on music station because rivals are afraid of MM gaining more exposure but... I can't prove that.



I'm sure it's all inner-business politics, rival agencies etc etc

I finally watched the MV of Anata Nashi de wa Ikite Yukenai (the only other time I've heard this song is on the 11th Hello Station) and that's not a Berryz Koubou song, it's a Tsunku song featuring Berryz Koubou.  So question time, was that a one time deal or are there other songs like that?

In my Japanese studying I'm really struggling with memorizing verbs.  Are there any MM a-sides that have a ton of verbs in them?  The form doesn't matter.

Um, I feel like that should be a given. They are part of H!P so yes (most likely, and something's wrong if they don't). They'll probably do a cover song or two since they don't have a lot of their own songs.

Futsal became a pretty popular sport for girls around a decade ago, helped by GBHP. They compete against school teams, company teams, local teams, and other celebrity teams.

It was confirmed on Aina's (I think) blog, she said that JJ was doing photoshoots for the summer concert and was excited that now they were doing it as as JJ and not KSS.

Can someone explain the plot of Stacys to me?  I know the whole beautiful zombies, powder, near death happiness, blah blah, but I want to know the plot line.  I attempted watching it but I got way freaked out and may have spent the rest of the week praying no zombies would kill me in my sleep.
 
Who is the guy?  And what is this about chainsaws?

I can explain the chainsaws part:


They have to cut the Stacy's into 165 even pieces so they can be rekilled successfully. That's when the chainsaws come in.
