Unless it was a patch that downloaded in the background without a prompt, I've yet to get one for the 360 version of Dead Island.

May have been, and maybe that's why a lot of people thought the other versions didn't get one? Don't know as I don't have it yet.

I wasn't just basing it on a bunch of fanboyism, I was reading reports on sites and from friends who actually bought the PC and PS3 versions who complained that they didn't have any patch yet. Guess its gone up since then, and that's great. And I also base talk about sales numbers on, you know, real data.. And in the US, 360 versions of multi-platform games almost always perform better, as historical data shows.

VGCHARTZ REAL DATA LMAO

I'm sure it did sell more on the 360, as do most multiplat games. *shrug* I have both, so I'm not invested in one particular platform. PS3 version looks better, but 360 runs a little better. I am having a blast playing with my brother irregardless of the bull, and that's really what counts most.

LOL. I guess? Apparently market data gathered from retailers is invalid?

I didn't saying anything about it being some "magically better console" just saying that its the console of choice for the majority of American gamers, and it therefore often gets special perks (DLC, patches, etc.) and exclusive deals before other systems. And PS2 is much like the Wii, where they made so much fucking software for it that some games every once in a while had to end up good in some way, but 85-90% of the games are just shovelware horseshit. Just because it sold a lot doesn't make it a good system, of course. PS3 sold millions of units because it has a blu-ray player just like PS2 sold millions of units because it had a DVD player before its time. But I digress.

I've got both platforms but unless the PS3 is the primary dev platform I always pick up the 360 versions if it has any online components. Live is just so much better than the PSN.

Vgchartz has zero credibility.

You could say the same about any gaming system, tbh. They all have their pluses and minuses, and any preference for one is personal. Anyway, I thought the presiding joke was that PC is greatest of them all? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... deways.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':sideways:' />

edit - I've said this before too, but 90% of my gaming is done on handhelds so I can't believe I'm doing this console warz bs. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I'll agree with Al that Live is better than the PSN, mostly because you get what you pay for, but I rarely play games on consoles, let alone online so the sub isn't worth it. The PS3 at least lets me get my netflix on without an extra fee.

edit 2 - since it was lost, where is that freaking plaaaannnnneeeeeeeeeee? I hate that the map doesn't have labels for the districts/areas.

Just finished Human Revolution.

It was a pretty good game overall...

But then something after about 3/4 happened and it completely blew my mind. I am not joking, I had goosebumps.

Hopefully they'll make a sequel that will be as complex as the original Deus Ex. Now that they got the semi-casuals on board they can ramp up the challenge again and deliver an even better game. Hell, I'd even pay 100€ just for a 1:1 remake of the original DX.

And I'm fairly sure this team can pull that off.

edit - has anyone done the "find the plane in the jungle" quest? Where is that flipping plaaaannneeee! D:

Well, they've confirmed DLC which will be some sort of plot device to where you have your augmentations disabled or reset. Here's the official page. But it sounds like it takes place mid-plot, so I don't know how that will work,

I'm maybe about 3/4 of the way through? It's hard to judge with a bunch of stuff I already know and an unknown amount of unknown. UNKNOWN UNKNOWNS. I seriously bet some of these plot points would have been decently impactful, even with the unnecessary, unexplained boss fights.

I'm not sure what function that "maybe" has, since I already finished it... haha

You've either finished the game or not. =P

Yeah, the DLC will be implemented into a part of the storyline that you wouldn't notice there was something "missing".

If it's not over-priced I'll probably buy it. But until then I'll have to try get some of the remaining achievements. I got the "Foxiest of the Hounds" one on my first run, I'm such a pro !

But unfortunately I was stupid enough to kill the two very first enemies in the game (even before getting the augs), so not killing anybody afterwards didn't help me in getting the Pacifist achievement.

I'm not exactly playing an achievement-friendly version, but I've heard how kills pre-aug still count against Pacifist. It extremely tough to go through the beginning without killing people, especially that last room, I think. The one where you start off on the 2nd floor and the guards enter and you have to head down the stairs?

I know. I'm seriously impressed by the game and am truly willing to buy. But I've already bought Deus Ex twice AND I bought Invisible War recently. Like, only a year ago. I'll probably wait until a DLC-included, GOTYAY-edition pack comes out.

I was excited, since at first I though it's going to be the first HD Persona.

But then... a fighting game... ? Yeah, not my cup of tea.

EDIT:

I bought Rock of Ages, which reminds me of the simple, yet pure and extremely fun Katamari games with some Tower Defense mixed into it.

If just you could build stuff with the D-pad. That'd make things a lot easier.

@neshcom - No worries, Internet guides are not my thing. If I am playing the game for the first time, best is to test everything out myself. Thanks for the tips.

Happily announcing current game - Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Valkyrie 2 on PSP is a bitch. Gets boring during the middle of the game and only gain control of players during battles. Other than that, corny script. Gameplay was a new experience but it is almost similar with "Final Fantasy Tactics."

Let's not forget that Persona 4 was announced for Vita.
Atlus is bringing the PlayStation 2 title to PlayStation Vita as Persona 4 The Golden. This new version adds a number of new features:
  • A new character named Mary
  • 1.5 times the voice of the PS2 version
  • Wireless support for calling on others to help you when you're about to die in a dungeon.
  • Other elements that fans of the original have heavily requested
  • New opening anime with new song from Shouji Meguro
  • New animation movies
A release is set for Spring 2012.

And also, Persona 5 is still a-brewin'. I'm kind of excited for Guilty Gear Persona. I wish it had the whole P3 cast too though.

For some reason I completely missed the "discussion" above.

I'm now somewhat happy that I missed it, eventhough I would have had a few things to say about some wrong arguments.

It also looks quite a bit better. Looking at some comparison screenshots it seemed like a much sharper game. Especially since no more scanlines shit.

Ugh, I finally started Dead Island yesterday and ended up playing for 12 hours straight non-stop. I finally cleared all the side missions in the resort and wrapped up act 1. This game is a hell of a long haul, since there's 5 acts. But I'm pretty sure the last 3 acts are much, much shorter than the first 2. We need to get more people together for co-op!

You can switch mid-game ?

I was under the impression if you chose a different character you'd have to start from scratch or at least the new act.

I was going to also play the sharp-weapons girl, eventhough I usually don't play females in games (no, this is not sexist).

Yeah, I started a new game, completely because I am an "explorer" in sandbox games and my brother is "a to b" sort of guy.

Tried a few free demos on Steam recently:

Bulletstorm - fun for five minutes, but not really my thing. Too much blind shooting that gets you through with new pointless achievements popping up every 10 seconds and too much follow the arrows without any exploration involved. Basically one scripted shootout after another. 4/10

Black Ops Multiplayer - terrible run around like crazy and spray bullets at everything that moves kind of a game. Fun for ADHD affected 12 year olds maybe. I can't believe I wasted good 8GB of bandwidth downloading this, that's 80% of my monthly b/w allowance until not very long ago. 2/10

Hard Reset - not bad if you like cyberpunk (thought it was dead for at least 10 years, but apparently not), but suffers from a heavy dead city syndrome. It just feels cold and sterile somehow, but at the same time fails at being majestic and overwhelming like Blade Runner's LA. And again, too many scripted events and too little exploration. 4/10

Duke Nukem Forever - had the most fun with this one. Surprising, after all the bad press it got. I can see how it failed to meet the expectations built up over 12 years, but was overall the most tolerable of the four. Probably because it does not take itself seriously, including its own lack of seriousness, if that makes sense. 6/10

I think I'll just keep playing Doom. Or pick up another part of Stalker finally and wait for the new Metro 2033, because those two were the only FPSes in the recent years that I actually liked (excluding Fallout 3 and New Vegas which I don't classify the same as the shoot'em up FPS).

Do you like Battlefield 2 or the easier to get into Bad Company 2 ?

You should also most definitely check out DX:HR.

CoD is fun now and then, but without a doubt the game has been going downhill rapidly after CoD4.

I've been playing Disgaea 4, which is as ridiculously overwhelming as ever, but that's what makes it fun. It also makes me want to eat sardines. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... umbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I've also just ordered Xenoblade Chronicles. It will probably take a long time to get here from the UK, but it was much less expensive than I was expecting. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nceman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':danceman:' />

If anyone is still playing Dead Island... is the multiplayer thing where you're looted after death a new game plus sort of thing or are they modded? Three of the people who jumped in the game tonight looted me after death and/or tried to kill me. I booted them afterwards, of course, but only after the damage was done ya know? Ugh I'm going to have to make it private aren't I? -this is why i never play online games-
