New drama news:



Jun will be starring in an upcoming spring drama as....a half-filipino half-Japanese man. He falls in love with a mute girl, played by Aragaki Yui. The writer is the same guy who did Hana Yori Dango. I can't find any news articles that say more, but apparently Jun will have some sort of "complex" - I imagine this will have to do with his race. There's a semi-interesting post about it here by a Filipino girl (....I know I'm doing this wrong. Isn't there a different spelling for girls? I fail <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='-_-' /> ) who is worried the show will portray Filipinos in a negative light. At least I think that's what she's trying to say, the post isn't very.....articulate. My two cents are at the bottom (lj username hontowa), anyone else have thoughts?



I also predict Jun gets a tan just for this role.

So Jessi asked in the BBS Meetup thread for a report on Sho's appearance at Comic Con. Unfortunately, Corinne and I aren't part of the ~*elite*~ (or alternatively, the part of fandom that lies their way to the top), so there's not much to report. The con itself was really disorganized and totally unprepared for the crowd that was going to be there, so his appearance got scaled back to a minute of waving from a glass booth and tickets given out to the public to the premiere got mysteriously cut from 200 to 12. So we basically saw him wave from the booth and saw him ride by in the limo going <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' />



I think the reason we ended up in a few news clips is because we were really obviously white XD We got picked out of the crowd for interviews by a few TV stations, but we never saw clips surface on the internet so I'm not sure if the footage was ever aired anywhere. It was funny how News Zero basically described anyone Asian in the crowd as "Japanese fans" and Corinne and I as "New Yorkers" (neither of us are from there) XD Buut oh well. Con gave us our money back and we met some cool people and made the best of our time in NY.



In actual JE news, Sho will be making an appearance in UtaOni episode 7, and Kame's drama is taking with a force only matched by Takahashi's. Discuss.

There's no link anywhere to the original Japanese source (just some LJ that appears to be friends locked), so I don't know if "Lover" in the original was more like "Boyfriend" or "Sexual partner." Either way though, Jin - Kame - Yamapi? That is sooo 2005. The whole list is really, except Daigo and Yamada Ryousuke popping up o.O I love Daigo and all, but I'm almost as concerned with the people that voted him up there as the Yamada Ryousuke fans. Speaking of Kame's drama (Which I'm not even going to bother watching because it seems ridiculously boring) I looked up Kat-Tun's new single that is used for the drama, just for curiosity sake, and it is awful. In a way it's so bad that it's almost good. Has anyone watched it? I wish I knew what they were whispering in the beginning because it just sounds like "Dreamy...Eternally...Butt...And?" There are so many points in the song where it's just awkward. Right as the bridge is ending Jin does this weird little raising of his voice...I can't even explain it. Go check it out if you want a laugh. (Also, their dancing sucks in it.)



As far as that list goes...why is Massu so high? Is he actually popular? More popular than Jun or Sho? Jeeze this list is weird. I hope it's a bad translation. And Yamada Ryosuke is cute and all, but cute like a little boy. Dear Lord, the idea that anyone would think of him in a sexual way...Yuck. Maybe this poll was conducted by a lot of Cougars or something. Who knows.

But Kanjani8 getting a 3rd album makes me happy! It will be called Puzzle and will have 15 tracks including It's My Soul, Wahaha, and Musekinin Hero. The regular edition will come with a bonus disc with a solo song for each member. The limited will come with a DVD that will have three PVs for the "unit songs" (Subaru/Ryo/Ohkura, Yoko/Yasu, Hina/Maru) plus a making of video for the album. It's not clear if these "unit songs" are going to be on the album, or just featured as PVs. The limited also comes with a puzzle XD

I think March and April are gearing up to be busy JE months. Arashi's Believe/Kumori Nochi Kaisei has already out-performed truth/Kaze no Mukou e's first day sales - though I'm kind of confused, because Oricon has changed their ranking system and now you no longer have to do the x1.75 thing (I don't even know why you had to before). So that makes it hard to compare anything coming out from now on with previous releases. Anyway, the PV's are out for both songs. I've yet to watch the animated version of Believe, but I was thinking of making a thread for that single so I'll hold off on commenting XD



In addition to the K8 album, Pi told me last night that there is to be another Dots album! And that he may have changed his name again. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol:' /> There's also going to be yet another Odoroki no Arashi special on 3/24. Now all I need as a TOKIO single and maybe another Swing and/or Vibes-esque V6 single and these wil be two very awesome JE months XD

I am so excited about the new Dots album. It seems like he might be going by Tsuyoshi Murasaki this time? I'm not sure, I havent found any news reports on his name change this time.



But the album will be called "bi ga ku ~ my beautiful sky" and the single is slated as "Sora ~ Utsukushii ware no sora". The website says the single will be a ballad from the ~*~depths of his heart~*~ with a feeling of Japan. I look forward to this, I love his ballads.

The CD comes out on his thirtieth birthday, 4/10.

I guess it doesn't seem as bad when you take into account that it's entirely new music and no singles AND he's releasing a single at the same time....but then again he did the exact same thing when he was calling himself 244 Endli-x and had more songs. Oh well, I can't wait for that great funk run XD

Someone just post an article in the Arashi community about how on it's first day, Believe/Kumori nochi Kaisei is already the 4th best selling single for the year with 215,000 copies sold - "behind Akimoto Junko's "Ai no mama de..." (sales to date 336,000 since Jan 2008), Kat-tun's "ONE DROP" (sales to date 315,000 since Feb 2009), Shuchishin's "Yowamushi Santa" (sales to date 231,000 since Dec 2008)."



SERIOUSLY? I'm blown away that One Drop has sold that much. It's not as bad of a trainwreck as Rescue, but wow. Kat-tun fans must be really loyal, because at this point I'd be more embarassed to pick up either of those singles in a store than a single by Frances and Aiko.

I'm still in love with Tsudzuru, I pretty much loop it all day at work. I've kind of forgotten about the other songs because of it, but I do remember really liking the single. Dots's funk usually takes me a few listens before it catches on - oh excuse me, there is no funk on this album, because Tsuyoshi Murasaki is leaving funk behind. It's....experimental drug music. Which is completely different.

Taichi of TOKIO confirmed that he has a girlfriend. She's a 31 year old OL and he says she cooks him breakfast in the mornings. (sometimes) They've been dating for 10 months. His ex-girlfriend, aiko (you know, the singer) also has a new boyfriend.



Second bit. Takki's second solo single has been confirmed. It's going to be released on May 6th with the title "Sha la la". Tsubasa who?

NewS released a new single apparently. I just heard about this now, it's called "Koi no ABO." The PV is out as well and it's just straight-up ridiculous. I would expect it from Kanjani8 but the guys in newS can't pull off comedy quite as well. The hair was humorous but I don't think that was intentional. On the bright side the PV wasn't boring at least.



There's been a couple Kanjani8 Puzzle previews to surface and they have clips of a few songs. I think this is the best one I've seen in terms of being able to preview the songs. They sound boring to me. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... unsure.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':sigh:' /> Maybe I just haven't heard enough.

I went to re-watch just for Tegoshi's solo and you're totally right. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Throughout the entire thing he's just primping and trying to look sauve. I like the song as well except sometimes when they sing "ABO" I hear "ebi" and it just makes the title confusing. I still feel like this isn't a NewS song however.

Are you by chance referring to this song? Because if so, I totally agree. When they are singing "Glorious, glorious, heavenly" it just gives me flashbacks to being 10 and singing worship in church. The song is not my favorite. For one they sing it all in English, which they shouldn't because none of them are all that great at English, but it's so slow and...boring.

Yup, that's the one. If I was a cartoon, my face would just be a question mark throughout this entire PV. A question mark that just gets bigger and bigger. Why the hell is this song entirely in English. I got maybe five words out of Subaru and Ryo, and not a single word out of Tacchon. Then there's....the praise Jesus feeling. And then....it's basically an extremely cheesy Backstreet Boys song. Now I love me some cheesy on occation, but this one is just over the top. And then Subaru is making like....tabasco soup, and stepping out into the world to reveal he lives in a trailer park WHAT. If this is what K8 does when they're in control of their own album, someone put a leish on them.



This on the other hand is more along the lines of what I was expecting. More 70s porn funk. Dots would be proud. Kudos for making Hina sound way less terrible, the many many closeups of the peeing kid statue, and Maru setting off a streamer explosion from his crotch that showers Hina. Otherwise this PV should not be in slow motion and is crazy boring.



This I love though. I don't know how a song by this pairing came out this good XD

JE seems so quiet recently.. at least in the groups I follow. Kinki Kids aren't really doing much of anything since this is the season where Dots goes off and does his own thing. Maybe I'll up his recent CD into audio files so we can talk about it. KinKi is long overdue for a new CD by this point, but it'll probably be delayed for a fall release since their tours are in the winter..



Dots' CD sold fairly well for a solo release and took #1 on the singles chart for the week, while his CD took #3. The single sold about 50,000 copies with the CD selling about 44,000 so far. I project it'll hit the 100,000-150,000 range by the time it falls off of the charts, much like his last release in 2008.

Looks like Takki and Ryo are going to be in a drama next season, and it actually looks kind of interesting. The basic premise is that Takki's character is a very horrible man, basically "the devil", as it says, but strangely enough he has been given the power to heal anyone he touches. On the flip side, Ryo's character is a teacher at an all girls school and is a very kind man, but anything he touches dies. Takki's character finds out about Ryo's and decides to try and use him to his advantage.



They say they modeled it after shows like Lost or Prison Break where there is a huge element of suspense. I think the idea sounds good, but I've never seen Takki in a really serious, dark role so it worries me. Angsty-Ryo is nothing new.

I just got back from a KAT-TUN concert Hahaha, I can't call myself a big fan or anything, but I have a close friend in the fanclub, which means I think I'll probably be going every year <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/meh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';/' />

I think I liked it better than last year's! The stuff that they do is crazy - this time Nakamaru actually bungee-jumped from the Tokyo Dome ceiling <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':omgwtf:' /> He said on some show that he would try and do it at every concert (and I guess he's terrified of heights), and apparently in Friday's and Saturday's show he couldn't do it <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hahaha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':crazy:' />
