Those outfits are hideous. Please tell me there's another PV somewhere with prettier outfits? I've always liked their outfits, and these are just, fugly!

I don't like the song or the outfits so far, but maybe the rest of the PV will be better. I can hardly recognize anyone except Tomochin, it's surprising and kind of annoying. The hair pieces are really really ugly. The song is forgettable as well, but maybe with a full listen I'll grow to like it. Maybe.



I see this becoming the single that doesn't sell a million copies...if it didn't have the theme of earthquakes and stuff.

So, there is one thing about AKB that has always confused me and I figure I would rather ask you than some stuck-up AKB fan like I seem to run into.

The "janken" tournament. Do they literally do rock, paper, scissors in order to win the lead in a single or a certain set of singles? And is it all the members?

Yes.

It's only for one single though, and afterwards it goes back to regular senbatsu.

Although the KKS do a preliminary round and only 5 participate. And this year 5 members each from SKE48 and NMB48 are participating as well. They also had preliminaries to decide which 5 would participate back in July.

Last year SKE & NMB didn't participate.



Last year's Janken single was Chance no Junban.

To go more into depth about senbatsu than the link provides...



Senbatsu was at first chosen by the management, and then they had the First senbatsu election where 30 girls were elected by their fans.

1 Center 1-12 Media Senbatsu 13-16 Upper Senbatsu 17-21 Lower Senbatsu. The Top 7 and also known as Kami 7 because for the first 2 senbatsu election the Top 7 members didn't change (their rank did, but they were still in the Top 7). They sing the single A side, the main song.

And 22-30 being the Undergirls (UG) who sing the coupling song. 22 being the UG center.



In the 2nd Election the number was raised to 1-40. With 22-40 being UG. 22 still the center. The 3rd election was the same.



After the election single, senbatsu usually consists of 1-16, the management is free to pull girls out of senbatsu, so usually if a girl is losing popularity and is in the lower ranks, she will be pulled out (ex: Miyazaki Miho), or if a girl is gaining popularity and management wants to push her, then they will add her to senbatsu (ex: Yokoyama Yui). For their latest single senbtasu was upped to 18 members because management wants Yui and NMB's Yamamoto Sayaka to be pushed more.



This is why fans of, for example, Akimoto Sayaka (ranking 1st-3rd elections #12>#17>#17)and Sato Amina (#8>#18>#18), say the election single is the only time they see their oshi's in the singles. Because they are taken out of senbatsu after the elections single. And Amina is known to be the most shafted girl in AKB history. Yeah, she was shafted 100x more than JunLin or Mako, etc.



Also management might add girls who didn't rank to UG after the elections.

And of course management secretly controls most of senbatsu by pushing certain girls a lot, and ignoring others.



And you like AKB because they are awesome. Accept it :D



Oh the 2 groups who sing the coupling songs changes. Sometimes it's a CM song, sometimes a Team song, sometimes they TG (Theater Girls aka those who dont rank) sing it or Senbatsu, UG and, TG are split into groups to sing it, etc.
