Karaoke Joysound Wii

Post by Tallgeese »

http://joysound.com/ex/wii/

^^ Anyone have this game? I've read reviews on various sites and it doesn't seem too bad, especially if you're a person who loves to karaoke (yet is nowhere near a place with a decent Japanese song list).

There's a catch, though - Apparently it only works with a Japanese Wii (or one that has the Japanese OS loaded onto it) according to people who have actually imported the game, and of course, all the song menus and stuff are in Japanese. The game comes preloaded with a few songs, don't know which ones, but to access to a lot of songs (including a pretty nice selection of HP) you purchase "tickets" with Wii points, 300 yen for 1 day, 500 for 3 days, 1000 for 30 days, so you only have to pay when you're using it basically. Anyone seen or played it in real life?

I have a modded Wii and I've been eyeing this, but I guess not so much anymore if you have to pay to use most of the songs. It probably won't work with my Mario Party microphone. :<

EDIT: Actually holy shit, this has EVERYTHING. Nevermind, I would probably pay for this. I'll try to find a torrent and see if it works. Need to find out how the mic works, though. :S

Okay, it seems there is theoretically a way to get this working on an American Wii, but it needs a Wii that can use homebrew.

Basically, you'd have to delete your Wii shop channel (Thus deleting all of your VC stuff, but if you have a modded Wii you could always re-install them, I think.), use a region changer to change your Wii to Japanese, and then use a Wii Shop installer instead of updating. And apparently the you can buy Japanese Wii Points with an American credit card. It also apparently works with a Rock Band microphone.

I'll try out my luck once I can find a torrent/download of it. Hopefully my sister will let me use her debit card. :S

That sounds amazing,

It includes the most random unexpected tracks. Maki's LIKE A GAME, stuff from folks songs (for MKB)

Genki+, Joshi 1 & 3,LOVE & Peace HERO... there's even 2 medleys.

モーニング娘。メドレー1 ~モーニング光線~

モーニング娘。メドレー2 ~もー!娘。たちが大騒ぎっ!!~

Bah, why do companies region lock games? Yes, prevent people who want to buy it from giving them money! Splendid idea! :glare: I'd get this if it weren't for that.

Have you played it, Trike? If so, can you record some of the H!P songs off it? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... iggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':sideways:' />

Yeah, that's my only real gripe with the Wii. If it weren't for that, I'd be playing Taiko no Tatsujin now, damnit. And the idea of a karaoke game sounds awesome, too. It's some of these games that have me seriously considering saving up to import a Japanese Wii.

I am downloading it as we speak. I should be able to play it tomorrow maybe. I don't know. I'm going to be busy until Tuesday. Hopefully I'll be able to get my mom to buy me a month or so (OR AT LEAST A DAY) of time. Otherwise I'll be stuck with the 50 or so normal songs. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':sideways:' />

And maybe. Just maybe. It won't be from a TV tuner, but I could take a video and rip the audio or something.

This is like karaoke heaven! I wouldn't have to leave home and go to a karaoke room. I would just buy a day's worth to sing and have a party at my house.

I want this...

I'm seriously considering just buying an import Wii for this. Anyone on this board (in Japan) who's played this before?

How does the game work? Are vocals removed/quieted? Is there any sort of vocal recognition?

It's basically just karaoke software. The same you'd find in a karaoke box. There's a generic movie background AFAIK, and all of the music is in MIDI-ish form. Lyrics are on the screen, you can shift the key and I think the song tempo? There's no vocal recognition.

Also an update: The torrent I have is really slow due to the seeder:peer ratio, so I'll be able to play it sometime later this week. I AM ALSO TAKING WII POINT DONATIONS IN CASE I CAN'T GET AHOLD OF SOMEONE'S CREDIT CARD

If you search Youtube there are a load of videos of people using it. Just a couple I found:

Koharu Kusumi - Balalaika

GOOD NEWS YOU GUYS!!!

After spending days downloading the game, burning the game, changing my Wii to Japanese format, and bricking my Wii once (Fixed), I can officially say that...

The torrent I downloaded was a dud! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nfused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I'm going to have to try and find another rip or something, or else actually buying it would be my last resort.

Oookaaaay. Apparently, it wasn't a dud, but my Wii was missing some files that some certain games need in order to be played.

Alright. I can say with 100% confidence that it IS POSSIBLE TO PLAY THIS GAME AND BUY TICKETS ON AN AMERICAN/EUROPEAN WII.

HOWEVER. You have to do a looot of work on it in order to do so. I'm not going to go into specific details on how to do any of this, as I don't want people to just go out and do this by whatever rough instructions I give. If you really want to do this, PM me or something and if I like you enough, I'll hold your hand through it all.

First of all, you have to delete your Wii Shop channel in your current firmware. There is no way around this, as you will have to separately install the Wii 3.4 shop, which breaks the ability to be able to freely switch between shop regions. This will cause you to forfeit all of your downloaded games, but if you have a modded Wii, I can assume that they can be easily re-installed via other means. Don't quote me on this, though. I haven't tried.

After this, you have to change your firmware into the Japanese version using AnyRegion Changer. This is an extremely risky software, and can easily semi-brick your Wii (Causing you to be unable to access your Wii settings.), but you should be fine if you really do your research and know what you're doing.

After this, you're going to need a separate specialized backup loader that will load the game without erroring.

THEN, you will be able to run the game. If you don't plan to buy tickets, all you need is the special backup loader and changing your firmware and deleting your shop is completely unnecessary.

HOWEVER, FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO BUY TICKETS, you will need an original copy of the game. A backup copy of Joysound Wii will not recognize any tickets you buy, causing you to waste your money. I'm really glad I found this out ahead of time instead of diving into it without knowing.

I will probably not pursue getting an original copy of the game, because I do not have $70 to blow on this game as well as however much I spend on buying tickets. If I still remember the game a few months from now, have extra money, and still want to play, sure, but fucking SF4 is coming out soon and I need to save for that. >:T

So yeah, if you want to play this on an American Wii, it's going to take a looot of work, especially if said Wii isn't already modded. If you have a few hundred bucks to blow, I'd say just go and buy a Japanese Wii and play the original.

And now I'm going to bed. I spent my whole day doing this shit!

Excellent, thanks for the details. I'm not going to go through with it since I wouldn't play it much; I just wanted to check it out if it was easy enough. For now I'll keep it in mind as a reason to get a J-Wii later, which I would do if enough reasons built up.

I only recognized 4 songs on the default list, anyway, and none of them are H!P. Ah well.

Not much better on my end, I only recognized 10 (not counting songs like "(If You're Happy And You Know It) Clap Your Hands", though). But damn, the selection of songs you can sing if you buy a ticket is AMAZING. [tinytext]I was really impressed by the AKB selection, since it included not just singles but some stage songs as well.[/tinytext]

Still, between this & Taiko no Tatsujin (and some of the awesome download stuff the Japanese Wii has that the American one doesn't), I'm pretty on board with the idea of saving up to drop the money to get one. I just hope when the time comes I can find a better deal than PlayAsia.

EDIT: Actually, PlayAsia's price wasn't as bad as I remember it being.
